meerkate no problem, if you want any specific information just shout. I'm just rushing out the door, I'm working at North Shore this morning and Auckland City this afternoon. Middlemore, Auckland City next week.

Might be able to find out some insider information on the job if your dh wants Wink

Meercat - my oh used to work at counties. He mainly enjoyed it but his team had a huge staff turnover which was quite stressful. My advice would be to live centrally if you can as that will give your oh options if he decides to move. We lived in Parnell and now St heliers. It was a 30-40 min commute door to door and presumably oh will be starting at stupid o'clock and miss the traffic?

We are in the far north which has the most amazing beaches. And our bach is lovely apart from the neighbour who threatened to whack my fucking head off and trash our car.. ..

Oh not so friendly littlest! Are you getting good weather. Auckland been off the boil today

Report
thelittlestkiwi · 15/02/2013 08:25

It's been lovely. We've had sun everyday.

Is off the boil hot or cold? Will my garden be fried?

Yikes, littlest! Sounds a charmer, alright! It is actually sunny here - again. I make that TWO days in a row. I can't explain what that feels like!! Littlest, I agree that living centrally would be a good plan. What if I can't find work anywhere other than North Shore, for instance? I don't want our lives to be dominated by some sort of traffic-snarled commute-hell...

lollystix · 15/02/2013 09:43

Not fried at all. Watered a bit.

It also took me 45 mins door to door yesterday to North Shore Hospital and 25-30 mins back from Auckland City. Off peak traffic is a doddle. Dh is working on the North Shore at the moment, leaves at 6.30am and 4pm and does it in the same time.

Peak traffic is of course a different story but that does without saying.

Welcome frik :)

Sibble whats the state of play with work for your dh now? Did he get the position in Auckland?

Wonder how AB got on in Waiheke yesterday.

I went down to the outdoor cinema at the waterfront again last night, which was good, despite a tiny bit of rain.

Re DH: he has been doing some consultancy for somebody this week. Hopefully it's 1 months work which has been a Godsend. Been a bit mad as we've had to buy a cheap car, he's 'borrowed' ds1s phone and my laptop. He also heard yesterday he's through the second round of the job he's chasing so 3rd interview on 21st and if he gets through that final interview on the following Monday!!

He's had a few others but they are Canada and Adelaide so I'm hoping the Auckland one will come off [fingers crossed emotion]

I however, am working as many hours as I can which is a bit of a shock to the system. I'm off to Wellington Monday/Tuesday early flight out and late flight back and straight back into it Wednesday. Only light on the horizon I have a fully paid work lunch at a nice restaurant Friday - hurray!!! Keep thinking money, money Grin

Outdoor cinema is at Silo Park, it's been running since Nov. Think it goes till March? There are markets, music events and kids activities at the waterfront too. Web page is here www.silopark.co.nz/Silo-Park/About.aspx but the Facebook page is sometimes more informative, search for Silo Park.

We saw Priscilla Queen of the Desert last night and they had a countdown to lighting up the Skytower and Museum in rainbow colours to celebrate the Pride festival, it was cool.

It's free :). The film is projected onto the side of one of the old silos, it's not a massive screen or anything.

And when I open the door I shall say "nomaste, justa, please, enter and let me help you find oneness" ;)

It is very different there. I don't want to say "hippy", but, erm, bohemian definitely, and laidback (which, I am not, I am quite uptight, so this may be a good thing for me!"

Yes, different. The principle hugged my Mum after the tour! Her face was a picture! I quickly proffered my hand and said "Well, thank you very much for your time"
