Can I win a prize for the most procrastinating pils EVER?

3pm, they say "Shall we take the dcs to the park for a while?"

Me, oh, yes please

Them: we'll just check something online first

They then faff around online for half an hour. Dcs wait patiently

3.45pm, fil says: oh, might just have a lie down, feeling a bit tired

4pm, mil says, I think I'll have a rest for half an hour too

4.30pm, I feed the dcs some tea

5pm, mil gets up, says: oh, probably too late for me to take the dcs out now.

Me: errrrr, yes, I suppose so

Dd1 ( who has been waiting since 3pm):Nooo, pleeeeease can we go, please please

Mil: oh no, mummy says its too late now

Dd1: Aaaaargh etc etc

Me: maybe you could just take them for 10 minutes?

Them, ohhh, ok. Followed by much faffing over shoes etc.

5.25 they finally go

And if I had at any point offered to go to the park instead of them it would have been met by a martyred look and "Oh no! We said we'd take them!"

Oh and they can't get into their email account and apparently it's because "something is wrong with the Internet in this house" Hmm Despite the fact every other website IN THE UNIVERSE is working JUST FINE. Couldn't possibly be because they've mistyped their password or something, oh nooooo

Fil has just told me "it's a bit nippy" in NZ at the mo Confused

vvviola · 09/02/2013 07:36

A bit nippy??? As in cold?

I'm in the doghouse Hmm I somehow managed to break the screen on my brand new satnav I may have had it in my handbag without a case, as I hadn't found a case to fit it yet
The satnav was a massive bargain ($79 down from $200) and there's no way we can afford to replace it now that the sales are over. Does anyone know a place that fixes touchscreens relatively cheaply??

(Btw xMinerva, I think I forgot to say: yes, 9am sounds perfect Smile)

lollystix · 09/02/2013 07:50

Nippy - is he having a laugh? DH is currently at the 20 20 cricket still in his T Shirt.

Anyone for some house porn? I've seen a house I really like - like actually went to view. Can't do links cos laptop broke AGAIN but can do no. On real estate.co.nz. It's SH4459. In zone. In budget?mmmm - and it's only 3 beds so not the forever house (when oh when will I have a forever house). T'is V nice though - 2 beds upstairs have sliding door between so could put them all upstairs in one huge communal room with all their crap.

WhatSheSaid · 09/02/2013 07:55

My dh is at the 20/20 too getting pissed "networking". Off to look at the house.

WhatSheSaid · 09/02/2013 08:02

Nice house. Have you checked out the CV?

FanjolinaJolie · 09/02/2013 08:11

Hello ladies, may I join?

We arrived in Auckland two months ago, we are returning kiwis who have been in the UK for last 15 and 20 years (each). Still in transition and lodging with mum and dad but have bought a house in St Heliers which we will settle on at end of Feb. DH and I both have jobs and our girls (6 and 8) have happily settled into their first week in kiwi school.

Feel very happy to be home but still can't quite believe we are permanently here after years of holidays only.

Lolly I know exactly where that house is and it has been on the market for a while. Slightly overpriced i think not in a great part of the road IMO although I should imagine quiet as down ROW. Do you need in zone for SHS?

lollystix · 09/02/2013 08:14

Yep - and as predicted they want way over CV. Been on market pre Xmas - went to auction and passed in. Back on now as 'negotiable' but on schedule they have a price. They were offered $125k under that price last sat and they turned it down. We could offer a bit more but not the price they want but which is $235k over CV. And although it's beautiful it's only 3 beds and that's just CRAZY.

Have done my sums - we could do it but we couldn't have any coffees or days out (or 2020 cricket!) unless DH pulled his finger out and delivered regular commission. Sigh..

WhatSheSaid · 09/02/2013 08:16

Hi Fanjolina.

Did you buy the house lollystix was bidding on last weekend Grin?

FanjolinaJolie · 09/02/2013 08:19

Probably not, we did not buy at auction!

FanjolinaJolie · 09/02/2013 08:22

lolly are you already in the area renting? House new to the market in Waimarie Street I have just seen.

lollystix · 09/02/2013 08:23

Hey FanjoGrin - yes SHS is where one of our is. Crap part of road but down bottom of drive so quiet and not right at bottom so won't be waterlogged in winter IYKWIM - are yours going to SHS too?

Welcome by the way.

Glad u also think overpriced. But isn't everything in st heliers!?

FanjolinaJolie · 09/02/2013 08:25

Yes everything overpriced. SIGH. We have paid the beach premium I think and have a hefty mortgage and borrowed funds from parents but will have a great location, lovely house but not a lot of outside space. Our girls are at CP school just along the road.

lollystix · 09/02/2013 08:26

Whatshesaid - got totally outbid on other one - some ejot going up in tens at the end - totally showing off. Actually glad as really was not worth what they paid. This one I like has tonnes of storage and doesn't need any fixing. I'm not into 80's houses per say but my view on what's acceptable has changed somewhat since moving here. But then again you should have seen the squalor we lived in in Scotland.

Waimarie - think I've seen online. Nice street. Went to see another right at end of glendowie too today and that was just sad really. So much and well out the way of any form of shop (which makes me hyperventilate).

FanjolinaJolie · 09/02/2013 08:29

Not our forever house either but good for five years or so.

This one is a lovely spot just along from my parents which we would have seriously considered had we not already bought.

breathtaking location

FanjolinaJolie · 09/02/2013 08:32

lolly did you bid on Sierra Street? We were at that auction as spectators. I really liked that house.

lollystix · 09/02/2013 08:42

Fanjo - the one u posted - havent bothered to look as feeling it would be a $1.2m one! Was sierra the blue one. If so kicking myself as we didn't see it and it went within our budget - could have bloody had that one.

I'm opening more wine. Grin
