Wow,have just gone to post and it wouldn't except it! So have had to start a new thread. Hope everyone finds it ok.I feel a bit like we've all been out for the night and somehow got seperated and no one has their mobile!!Grin
Anyway, this was the question I've had to cut and paste from the old thread:...

Sorry, have had a quick look but can't see...has anyone used emirates?
I think the sky couch thing looks good, but we'd have to buy a couple and that would be pricey.
Dh reckons Emirates are fine, but I don't think he's anticipating how different it's going to be travelling that disatnce with 3 exhausted infants.
He has limited travel experience as it is and the longest he has been on a plane with them is 3 hours. He keeps saying it will be fine, they'll sleep for loads of it...somehow I'm thinking this will not happen!!

The praying mantises aren't dangerous - just a bit feisty. Have you seen these photo's?

praying mantises

I'm now on day 20 of my solo stint and so over it. I hope OH's plane is not delayed or I'll be ringing nursery to beg for an extra day on Friday. Stoopid bank holidays and a hospital appointment have mean't I'm not getting a break this week.

AngryBeaver · 25/04/2012 21:00

I love the praying mantis!!I always put them out as I don't want them to get morteined! My 3 year old loves them and walks round with them on his hand. I think they can scratch and bite, but it's more likely to be the bigger ones in other countries. They are beautiful!

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 25/04/2012 23:05

I think they're beautiful too.

When is your OH due back littlest? 20 days is a long time on your own with a dc.

Sibble · 25/04/2012 23:42

thelittlestkiwi I sometimes dream about dh going away for 20 days but in reality know it would be hard (maybe Grin).

Well we are in the new house and internet is finally up and running. Not a smooth move but at least we are now unpacked. Just the 'project'. It has dawned on me what a big job we have taken on. Dh is very excited about ripping things out etc...I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all. Won't go into details but suffice to say I can see why moving is rated up there for stress - nearly divorced dh on several occasions over past few weeks.

Anyway, am about to take ds2 to school - had an acute case of new schoolitis this morning. Miraculous recovery from sore throat, head and tummy about 5 mins after school bell would have rung, when he flitted between computer games, tv and trampoline. Relapse when school was mentioned but I am meant to be at work so at least will be able to get in for my meeting if I drop him shortly!

thelittlestkiwi · 26/04/2012 00:43

He's back tomorrow morning. Luckily the hospital was on time today so I'm getting a few hours off today. Which may make up for a very early start this morning. My mood has not been helped by seeing him in my favourite pub with all our old pals. Grrr.

Sibble- moving is shite. We may end up staying in NZ cos I can't face it again! I guess you just have to tackle one job at a time. We have an ever increasing list for our house and it wasn't a project!

lollystix · 26/04/2012 04:23

Moving is shite I agree. I see our place as very temporary so that will be 3 houses in 3 years for some of my boys- not very stable.

Apparently my stuff is in Columbia of all places so chances of May 10th as promised sound a bit slim to me

I agree, moving is totally poo. We aer still searching for a new rental. Not going well. We are considering auctioning our UK house just to get the cash to buy here,so we can feel settled.
Good news is, the hcg levels have doubled since tue...so ovre the 1st hurdle

OP posts:
Bobbish · 26/04/2012 10:16

Columbia! I didn't even think that had a coast line (off to check on google now)

oh - and yay for the HCG rising!

oh yes - it sure does. Is the stuff on the pacific or the atlantic side of the panama canal though . . .

thelittlestkiwi · 26/04/2012 10:56

Yah AB! That's great news.

Lolly- we've managed five in three years! Two were pre DD so less stressful. But that does not include the 3 different hotels/baches we stayed in during our homeless phase when DD was 10 months old.

I may never move again.

And Columbia?

12 hours and counting on thelittlest clock of solo parenting. I've even been OUT tonight.

lollystix · 26/04/2012 11:55

Turns out it was Columbo which is India somewhere - I was a bit confused why it was going round south America.

Official congrats ABGrin

thelittlestkiwi · 26/04/2012 11:59

Phew. Is that Columbo in Sri Lanka?

lollystix · 26/04/2012 16:40

Must be - I didn't do my geography GCSE so it's not my forte. Still think 10th May sounds optimistic.

Well although within 5 minutes they asked how many kids I had and I thought I was buggered as their jaws dropped and lots of OMG noises. But not so apparently as they want to see me again and I have got psychometric testing Monday and presentation Tuesday - all happening bit fast. I loved Britomart - they have beanbags on grass and no one steals them - wouldn't last 5 minutes in Glasgow.

thelittlestkiwi · 27/04/2012 10:10

Well done lolly. Would the job be at Britomart? I often drive to Mission Bay and park before hopping on a bus. It's faster cos there are more buses to Mission Bay than St H.

lollystix · 27/04/2012 10:22

Job 2 ft from britomart. Remember my stressing in UK about commutes. Bus goes from my road and 30 mins later I'm there. They're testing me though as presentation at 3pm when ds1 at school and ds2 at kindy and both need pick up. Have nanny in wings who I meet Monday - she has chiwawa (or however spelt) puppy which is a bit Hmm but she comes recommended.

lollystix · 27/04/2012 10:23

Is chiwawa puppy as big as a hamster I wonder?

shelscrape · 27/04/2012 10:51

lolly your stuff will probably turn up on time. Our container seemed to loiter in one place for ages and ages - DH was getting very stressed and worried pirates had got it. Turns out if you are following a ship online, they are sometimes out of range so their position does not update as often as you would like. Good luck on the job front ... what type of work is it?

AB hope all is still well with you. A right bugger about the house though

Well, my parents came after all. Another week and they go home, much shorted visit than planned due to nan's stroke. Going OK on the whole, but very tense times as they are staying with us and want a bedroom each!

AnxiouslyExcited · 27/04/2012 16:09

Hi everyone.

Hope I'm ok to join the party. ;)

Dp has just been offered in job in New Zealand and so naturally the first thing I did was search on here.

I'll be reading through this thread once the children are in bed, if someone can link to the first thread i'd be very grateful.

I will probably have LOTS of questions over the coming weeks and I hope some of you will be able to answer them for me.

Until then i'm just trying to contain my excitment. It's hard. Grin

I think I need a checklist of things that I need to be sorting out. Thank-fully I like writing lists.

AnxiouslyExcited · 27/04/2012 16:12

Just realised that everyone is probably asleep. Blush
