Wow,have just gone to post and it wouldn't except it! So have had to start a new thread. Hope everyone finds it ok.I feel a bit like we've all been out for the night and somehow got seperated and no one has their mobile!!Grin
Anyway, this was the question I've had to cut and paste from the old thread:...

Sorry, have had a quick look but can't see...has anyone used emirates?
I think the sky couch thing looks good, but we'd have to buy a couple and that would be pricey.
Dh reckons Emirates are fine, but I don't think he's anticipating how different it's going to be travelling that disatnce with 3 exhausted infants.
He has limited travel experience as it is and the longest he has been on a plane with them is 3 hours. He keeps saying it will be fine, they'll sleep for loads of it...somehow I'm thinking this will not happen!!

Oh and Bobbish. I'll contact you of DP gets allocated Wellington. Grin

AngryBeaver · 28/04/2012 11:11

Hi excited...you will love it,and you can pick all our brains. Although,I won't be much good on either Aukland or Welly! The flight will be ok,I was expecting hell, but it wasn't half as bad as I thought.

I found out my lovely Gran passed away last night.Sad

I was thinking about some of the Scottish songs she used to sing me.You might know some of them lolly?! Shoo shaggy, hallaky dallaky, hey joch mi cuddy,?! She loved teaching them to me.
I bet you know this one...
Just a wee deoch an doris, just a wee drop, that's all.
Just a wee deoch an doris afore ye gang awa.
There's a wee wifie waitin' in a wee but an ben.
If you can say, "It's a braw bricht moonlicht nicht",
Then yer a'richt, ye ken.

Ladies, next time you raise a glass say cheers to my Gran, she was wonderful x

So sorry to hear about your gran AB. I will certainly raise a glass to her tomorrow evening. Did she like whisky? We've got a good collection of single malts (dh is a Glaswegian)

Did she sing 'ally Bally b' to you? That is dh's favorite for singing to the girls. Always brings a lump to his throat cos his granda used to sing it to him.

AngryBeaver · 28/04/2012 20:11

Thanks,Bobbish. She certainly did enjoy a whisky...the care home used to ring us when she had run out! She wouldn't get to bed without a wee dram!
Ally bally doesn't sound familiar...maybe if I heard it. How lovely that these songs get passed down through the generations and a little bit of our Grandparents lives on...

Sorry to hear the news AB.

AnxiouslyExcited · 29/04/2012 09:17

So sorry to hear about your Gran AB. She sounds like a wonderful woman. Take care of yourself.

AngryBeaver · 29/04/2012 09:31

Thanks everyone. It was an end no one would wish for. So at least she is not suffering anymore. Still hard to think that she's not here anymore. The funeral is on Friday, I can't believe I won't be there.

lollystix · 29/04/2012 10:42

Sad AB.

thelittlestkiwi · 29/04/2012 10:45

Can you take some time on Friday to remember your Gran AB? Go somewhere beautiful and talk to your OH and kids about her.

lollystix · 29/04/2012 10:49

Feijoa chocolate is minging. It may sound like an interesting idea but it's just like eating washing powder. Approach with caution when entering Nosh. In fact approach Nosh with caution or you may lose $100 infront of your very eyes.

Went to Justabout's Ds1's party today -boys loved it - thanks for the invite - impressive baking btw. Sorry about the party bag outrage from DS1 - we're working on him. 2 hours on my own shopping in Newmarket this pm - I'm feeling more cheered about the shoe potential of this country.

PS update on my mum - she is currently in the country but leaves tomorrow (she's been with me this week). This is her personal best I believe - emigration and repatriation within 4 weeks (for the 4th time in 2.5 years). Thankfully cat and furniture still safely housed in the UK. And she cleaned my house whilst I was out which was lovely of her.

thelittlestkiwi · 29/04/2012 22:28

Feijoa anything is minging in IMHO! Nosh can be expensive. I treat it like M and S food: be very selective and only pick up a basket. The cafe is good though.

My OH has returned with lots of presents for DD from my MIL. Enough clarkes shoes to last a year. I'm very jealous. I just can't bring myself to spend $200 on shoes. I keep asking him if he felt like moving back and he just keeps saying 'Edinburgh was baltic'.

vvviola · 29/04/2012 22:30

AB - so sorry to hear about your Gran. It's so hard when you are so far away Sad

We're big feijoa fans here (or rather DH & DD are) and we've discovered that feijoa and apple crumble is delicious. Although with the amount we're getting from the tree in our garden we'll be eating it for months and months!

Oh yes, they're delicious. But make sure they're soft before you cut into them (but not gone black) - bit how a good avocado would feel. And then scoop out middle with spoon. Yum.

But that might be useful! Shattered mums need support. Smile

WhatSheSaid · 30/04/2012 00:53

Feijoas are yum. I love autumn because it means feijoas. Yes, they should be soft when you squeeze them - when they are ripe the insides look sort of clear - if the insides are still hard and yellow-ish in colour they are not ripe (and therefore sour).

I have just come back with a bag of about 50 of them from playgroup as someone brought in a box of them from their garden for everyone to help themselves to. My dds will go through about 20 between them in an afternoon sometimes.

I heard that K-Mart shoes last better than Warehouse, for similar price. I have had sandals from there that have lasted for 2 children, no problem. They do sell Clarks here in Hannahs don't they? Though probably at vast expense.

I really need to learn the lesson about warehouse shoes. I've been a sucker for the price so many times and every bloody time they fall apart within months. Sometimes weeks. Why do I do it????

You have such a great sounding support worker Justa. I'm very pleased for you.
