Wow,have just gone to post and it wouldn't except it! So have had to start a new thread. Hope everyone finds it ok.I feel a bit like we've all been out for the night and somehow got seperated and no one has their mobile!!Grin
Anyway, this was the question I've had to cut and paste from the old thread:...

Sorry, have had a quick look but can't see...has anyone used emirates?
I think the sky couch thing looks good, but we'd have to buy a couple and that would be pricey.
Dh reckons Emirates are fine, but I don't think he's anticipating how different it's going to be travelling that disatnce with 3 exhausted infants.
He has limited travel experience as it is and the longest he has been on a plane with them is 3 hours. He keeps saying it will be fine, they'll sleep for loads of it...somehow I'm thinking this will not happen!!

AB - DH & I had a long conversation about it once (veering into discussions of whether being called 'Paddy' was offensive)... I had to call in the backup of google & haven't forgotten it since (I may be slightly stubborn & not like losing arguments Blush)

And I'm another one who thought it was second hand pregnancy tests too Grin

The cockroach invited the ants to a party in his cupboard - I found them all this morning?

Should I contact the gp about the hep b thing or will they find me?

Good luck AB in the test result. My grandad said for bad things happening in 3 you need to break a match for the third and that's you safe.

thelittlestkiwi · 23/04/2012 11:54

I don't think we've had Hep B unless it is part of the normal schedule here so don't panic lolly. You can call the GP and ask the nurse as tehy are pretty keen here on getting kids vaccinated.

We get an ant invasion every so often. I use that liquid you can get from the supermarket or bleach spray.

The only things to really worry about are praying mantis- they are harmless, just don't handle them - and white tip spiders which do bite apparently so need getting rid of. They eat other spiders so keeping on top of insects and nests will minimise them. If your house has lots of spiders webs outside you can ask your landlord to get it washed.

WhatSheSaid · 23/04/2012 20:20

My dds were both born here and I've just checked their immunisation schedule (handily stuck to my fridge as it's in the form of a fridge magnet) and they have 3 Hep B immunisations here, at 6 weeks, 3 months and 5 months. Don't know how many you have in the UK?

I find those autocan things that let out a spray every 10 minutes or so keep the ants/roaches/spiders away, from the inside anyway. And I keep all food that could attract them (open bags of flour, sugar etc) in jars or plastic boxes. They're only really a problem in summer, once winter comes I don't refill the spray thing.

vvviola · 23/04/2012 23:19

There was a cockroach in the hood of DD's buggy this morning when I unfolded it. There may have been undignified leaping & screeching Blush.

The kindy people now think I'm totally nuts.

AngryBeaver · 23/04/2012 23:58

Lolly,I am going to buy some matches. Went to drs, they did test and there was faint line, which dr said could indicate "something amiss"...cue me bawling. Sent me to midwives, I arrived feeling very lost and spoke to a lovely lady that said hcg levels may increase. She sent me to pathlab where I had blood test, awaiting results.
If everything is ok (pleeeeeease god) we expect our baby on 21st Dec.

What are the folic acid tabs called here that I need to get?!

OP posts:
lollystix · 24/04/2012 00:08

Fingers crossed AB

WhatSheSaid · 24/04/2012 00:09

Ooh a tentative "congrats" AB. A line is a line!

You can get the folic acid on prescription from the dr - or maybe from a mw - the ones you buy over the counter are called Elevit I think but they are quite expensive, only $3 prescription charge if you get them from the dr. You may be able to phone up your drs and ask them to get you a prescription for them without having to see the dr and pay again.

Ooh congrats AB! Keeping fingers crossed for you and your lovely Christmas present Grin

AngryBeaver · 24/04/2012 03:21

I did another test at home before and there was a more definite line. I am waiting for the path lab to ring back with the hcg results and they have to be checked every 2 days to check they are going up. Don't want to get excited just yet,it hurts too much when something goes wrong. I'll wait until after the scans to be happy I think.
I have just been into to get preg vitamins. Went to countdown first, should have known they wouldn't have them! (Come back Asda, all is forgiven!) Then went to chemist where a lady picked some out.$100...for 60!!!!!!!!ferigging hell!
Just got the basic folic acid for $15...but will ask if I can have them on prescription from now on,thatnks for the tip whatshesaid.

Have put some posters up around town re houses to rent, drawn a pic of a nice house with smoky chimney and flowers in the garden underneath the WANTED ad...'tis vair artistic! Smile

WhatSheSaid · 24/04/2012 04:22

Told you the pg vitamins are a rip off expensive!

I didn't take multivits either pg, I just got the prescription folic acid and tried to eat healthily if you can call nine months of ice blocks healthy

Hopefully an early summer baby - lovely Smile

AngryBeaver · 24/04/2012 06:09

Hcg levels are at 350,having another test on thurs, if they have doubled that is a good sign. Everything crossed please ladies Smile

everything crossed for you AB!

In desperate need of supermarket shop today (working full time now means i am so far behind in all manner of housekeeping crap). Forgot that nothing here opens till after 1pm on Anzac day. Been here 6 years now but still not used to things actually closing on public holidays.

We've had the random stray roach too - but never more than one at a time. Had a fould big spider on Thursday morning though that i got DH to vacuum up (not risking it being a white tail)

Well, that's a matter of opinion Wink

What sold me on them was that they emit the same chemicals as a 10-second spray of fly spray every month. So that equates to 1 second of spray every 3 days. As dh used to go mad spraying fly spray several times a day I figured the robocans (we have the Raid one) would work out at far lower amounts of chemicals.

That's really interesting - I was put off getting one because of the dire warnings about not having them near where young children play (which is pretty much the entire house)

Oh, and I meant to ask - what's the issue with praying mantises & not touching them? (other than being scary looking things)
