Schenk ein den Wein - as autumn comes to Germany and Austria

Der Nebel steigt, es fällt das Laub;
schenk ein den Wein, den holden!
Wir wollen uns den grauen Tag
vergolden, ja vergolden!

A thread for all those living in Germany and Austria, and anyone else who would like to chat.

Always good to have an excuse to open some Wine, and this poem seemed quite appropriate!

Austrian radio loves Christmas music today. I've already heard Do They Know It's Christmas, a Queen song about Christmas and another Christmas song I can't remember, all in the space of the last hour. It also loves Adele (or Adayla, as I heard her called earlier), especially that awful stalkerish song, which they seem to play several times an hour. They decided to translate it for their listeners one day, although I wasn't particularly impressed with their translator (if it was a real person). There was one line that started "Guess she gave you things", which they translated as "Schätzungsweise hat sie dir etwas gegeben". Hmm

Will carry on thinking about Glühwein titles, then. If only I could have some to inspire me, but I think we've finished our last bottle.

Well if there is Christmas music on the radio already then I would be totally justified in whipping out my Jive Bunny Christmas Party Mix CD!
(If I can hold out until the beginning if December it might not result in a divorce....)

Go for it, Later! Having just consulted my Ö3 app (I can't face turning the radio on again), I see that they've just played Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by the Pretenders. Right, I've just switched the radio on - and it's Wonderful Christmas Time. Has someone suddenly decided that the Christmas period starts today? I'm sure I didn't hear a single Christmas song on the radio yesterday.

DH has just informed me that George Michael is in intensive care in hospital in Vienna. And also that there's probably so much Christmas music because it's the first Advent weekend (but does Friday already count as the weekend?).

New thread here. Inspiration struck after a few sips of wine. Grin
