Appointment cockup sounds a total pain, especially with that length of trip.
Hope everything goes well with the treatment plan for your DH.

Hi Five, hope you don't mind me posting. I know you don't know me from Adam, but I have seen you on the Candy's Hugs thread - I didn't want to post there because I didn't want to bring stuff from this thread onto that one as that may not have been what you wanted. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you.

I really feel for you about the appointment mix-up, I bet the trip and anticipation was stressful enough without adding that into the mix. I'm glad you have a plan in place and hope that your DH responds positively to the treatment.

Your brother sounds wonderful, btw. Flowers

Lovely to hear from you malcolm, I don't post about this on the woolly hug thread as that is all about positive thoughts and knitting/crocheting and Candy and I don't want to detract from that and this is my moaning thread and that one is my moaning I can't crochet thread!

OP posts:
MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 19/02/2017 12:22

That's what I thought, Five.

Feel free to moan away! Was it your friend who was given a Candy's Hug? Apologies if I've misremembered. If it was, then I hope she's doing okay and she's been in my thoughts.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 19/02/2017 12:22

Yes it was and she loves it

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 19/02/2017 12:25

PS I love Dorset, btw. Not sure if that's where you are now, or where you originally came from, but my grandparents lived in Childe Oakford and then in Blandford when I was little. Lots of wonderful memories around those parts!

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 19/02/2017 12:45

Than plan sounds pretty good. When are they going to block the blood flow?

🍺 for your brother x

I'd still talk to the Council again though. Most have hardship exclusions that are significant, not 'a drop in the ocean'. Many will (quietly) give 100% discounts in situations like yours. It's worth asking again, but make sure you speak to someone high enough up.

Malcolm

FiveGoMadInDorset · 19/02/2017 18:38

I love dorset, born and bred, tried a few places around the globe and the country and still come back here, we live South of blandford by the coast

So we have a date for the plug to be inserted into DH's liver which is next Wednesday and then the routine continues with 5 rounds of chemo left, I think we have managed a small holiday in the May half term before the last che,mo and then a summer of operations and recovery.

I had a wobble last week but have settled again and made the decision to drop another day of work, so three days but be on call to help out in the fourth day of needed. I do suffer from depression and I think I need this for my mental health and to get everyone thorough this, I am working for my mother who was widowed just over a year ago and is struggling as well

Oh so sorry to read all this, bloody cancer

Chasingsquirrels · 09/03/2017 22:09

Lots of fingers crossed for your DH five and look after yourself as well.
Glad you've managed to fit in some family time.

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 10/03/2017 09:29

Glad you've got a date for the plug, Five, hope all goes well with the op.

Sounds like a good idea to drop a day's work. Depression is a bugger and the thing is, it's so easy to try to keep going, to put everything else before yourself, which then just makes things even worse in the long run. So well done (and I hope that doesn't sound patronising).

Thinking of your mum too, life is just so crap sometimes.

Am here if you ever want to chat! Flowers for you too!

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 10/03/2017 09:32

Oh and we used to go for 'pootles' in the car with my grandparents. We'd take a picnic and go all over. We went to Badbury Rings and flew our kites, to Purbecks Sands and played on the beach (I loved a hidden away bit where the sand was red!) and to a model village that I can't remember the name of. Further afield, we also used to go to Cricket St Thomas. It's a gorgeous part of the world!

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 14/03/2017 22:54

Hi Five, just wanted to say I'll be thinking of you and your DH tomorrow. I hope all goes well and that he is comfortable afterwards and back home with you soon (not sure how long he needs to stay in for).

Best of luck Flowers

Chasingsquirrels · 15/03/2017 07:45

Another one hoping today goes well for your DH @Five.

Jetcatblackcat · 15/03/2017 07:48

Sending positive vibes Five Flowers

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 21/03/2017 21:15

I keep losing your thread 🙁 I think it's getting buried under WoollyHugs!

How did the plug fitting go? How is he doing with the Chemo.

Dropping another day at work sounds good, you must be run ragged.

The holiday in May is something nice to look forward to 😊

Chasingsquirrels · 22/03/2017 16:45

I'm wishing you and your DH all the luck in the world Five.
Fucking fucking cancer.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 22/03/2017 16:50

Holiday in May has had to be postponed they are looking at operating in May, they can't do the lover and bowel in one op as it is just to big for DH to cope with, will find out more details after they have had their meeting on 6th April and DH has had a scan on 3rd.

Thank you for all your positive vibes and chasing thank you for thinking of us on such a difficult day, you and your family have been in my thoughts everyday

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 23/03/2017 21:43

Hope everything goes well with the scan then the consultant meeting Five, early Apr must seem like an age away atm when you just want things to happen. But it really isn't very long and will be here before you know it.
Hope you manage to rearrange your holiday once you have some dates in place.
One thing to keep in mind with chemo is that although you start out with a schedule of dates this can often change depending on how well the patient is at the time. DH had one postponed due to blood count levels so the whole schedule went back a week for all the rest - meaning plans we'd made based on the initial schedule went out of the window.
Hugs

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 23/03/2017 23:24

FiveGMID. That's crap about the holiday 🙁 If it were me, if we got a suitable gap to go between ops etc, I'd take the kids out of school to go. Let them whinge.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the best possible news on the 6th. It'll make knitting & crocheting difficult, but no slower than I normally am 😉

Big hugs my lovely xx

Chasing. It's funny I should come here and find you'd said Fucking fucking cancer because I just wrote something similar on your thread, with a bit of a rant about how fucking nasty it is & how unfair, then deleted it in case I upset you.

Chasingsquirrels · 28/03/2017 08:47

Hope everything is going okay Five, won't be long until next week is here for the scan and then follow up.
