verycrossandembarrassed · 10/11/2015 12:47

is this okay for the school Headmistress to do this to me? they say i parked illegally this morning, took a photo of my car and have now emailed every single parent at my DS's school with all the information. nothing has been proved! i know i've probably annoyed a neighbour but is this fair how the Headmistress has acted? Surely I must have some rights too? It's just sooo embarrassing as I count lots of the mummies as my good friends. I don't think she should have been able to do this and would like to know my legal rights and complain about this treatment. Really awful for my DS too.

I read a thread on here years ago where a poster's school (or a school she knew) were threatening to bar children of twattish parkers from taking part in the nativity play.

I think a few people claimed they school wouldn't (or shouldn't) be allowed to do that, but that is the sort of action that would actually stop being be such entitled knobs who think it is beneath them to gasp walk anywhere...

whooshbangprettycolours · 10/11/2015 16:19

Oh, so now everyone agrees it's fine (even the lawyer ^^) you're moaning.

Re read your post, you had a choice, you chose to break the law.

I live in a street with a school and the ignorant twats that double park, block people in, park on the corners, park on double yellow lines ALL contributed to the child that got run over here. The rules are there for a reason. Safety.

Fortunately the child lived. It takes less than a second to cause a serious accident. 'Not long' doesn't cut it.

sparechange · 10/11/2015 16:20

Ah, the sisterhood
I obviously missed the memo where I am automatically supposed to support someone being an arse if they have a vagina

whooshbangprettycolours · 10/11/2015 16:20

The sisterhood? Grin

SoupDragon · 10/11/2015 16:22

My parking was not dangerous. It was highly likely not illegal.

You were parked over a dropped kerb. You were parked the long enough for the neighbour to complain and for the head teacher to take a photo of you parked like a twat.

I am fairly confident you were in the wrong if the neighbour was unable to get out.

verycrossandembarrassed · 10/11/2015 16:27

who said the Headmistress took the photo? Where in my original post does it say I broke the law? I do hope none of you are on jury service anytime soon. Or ever. Yes there are times people do something wrong (and drawing parallels with dangerous driving and run down children is a bit much when the facts don't support it). But you're right. I'm a monster and shall now just shoot myself. You must all lead utterly blameless lives. (So long as we ignore the vilifying you do online.)

OP posts:
LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 10/11/2015 16:28

I (stupidly I now see) asked what I had intended to be a legal question on a legal thread.

But the very fact that you wanted to ask a 'legal question' instead of saying "hands up, I was a twat and I won't do it again" is why you've had the response you have.

And FYI, sisterhood is not about supporting and validating someone's poor choices.

NerrSnerr · 10/11/2015 16:28

The problem is OP, this is a problem in most schools because selfish and lazy people choose to park illegally, pissing off the residents, parking dangerously and generally parking badly. That's why threads like this kick off. Is there a real reason why you couldn't park further away and walk? People often park across my dive and it's fucking annoying, that is why I never ever do it to anyone else.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 10/11/2015 16:29

So how did you park OP. Want to explain it to us?

How can one park that a school would consider a photo evidence of illegal parking, and you yourself would construe as inconsiderate ?

verycrossandembarrassed · 10/11/2015 16:29

Libraries - quite, I see that now. I shan't ever wish to put my head up again! And FYI my comment on sisterhood was how everyone seems to like to jump in on a bashing session. And it was ironic.

OP posts:
NoSquirrels · 10/11/2015 16:29

The neighbour's upset yes of course (and I'm quite able to deal with that separately without having to post questions about it on here for advice) and all the other issues. My parking was not dangerous. It was highly likely not illegal.

At least two people (the HT and the neighbour) agreed that you were parked so inconsiderately as to warrant taking a photo and alerting their community to it. So whether it was illegal parking, or just cuntish parking, is sort of neither here nor there.

Hope you get it your attitude sorted, OP. Guess the HT is not part of the sisterhood either.

NerrSnerr · 10/11/2015 16:31

People have posted negatively because of the information you've given. You might get a different response if you answer the following

How exactly did you park? Blocking a drive? Over a dropped kerb?
Why did you park there? Was there a genuine reason you couldn't park further away and walk?

Topseyt · 10/11/2015 16:31

Sisterhood!!

Actually, anyone who truly knew me could possibly take a guess at who I am from my username, but they would really have to know me very well.

Legal question? You know the Highway Code. You don't park obstructing peoples' driveways or access roads.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/11/2015 16:32

i believe SoupDragon is right, and if you have parked over someone's drive, blocking them in, that IS illegal, verycross. If you hadn't blocked them in, it was 'merely' rude and inconsiderate.

Either way, it was NOT illegal for the HT to publish the photo of your inconsiderate parking.

Shutthatdoor · 10/11/2015 16:33

My parking was not dangerous.

Doesn't matter. If accross a driveway it is an obstruction.

It was highly likely not illegal.

If it was a droppwd curb then it could have been dealt with by the police. I'may sure they would have loved to have heard your excuses.

But boy don't most of you jump down someone's throat. Nothing like sisterhood, eh?

Sorry but because posters are female it doesn't mean they have to be automatically supported just because of their gender.

I suggest you brush up on your Highway code.

Posters including a lawyer have said the HT has done nothing wrong unlike you

namechangedtoday15 · 10/11/2015 16:34

OP are you going to explain exactly what you did and why you had no alternatives?

Sirzy · 10/11/2015 16:34

So how had you parked?

I am on the good on th head side, I never fail to be amazed by the stupid, dangerous and illegal parking I witness when taking Ds to school. It's like they leave all common sense at home!

AutumnLeavesArePretty · 10/11/2015 16:34

I'd love to know that head, good on her.

The amount of people who can't park a minute or so away and walk is astounding, it's easier to block access or park dangerously so little Tarquinius doesn't hurt his legs walking or get wet.

NoSquirrels · 10/11/2015 16:36

Btw, plenty of posters DID answer your "legal" query, which was that you have no rights as the HT's treatment of you did not break any laws.

As you haven't really offered any of the "other issues" and you have been very defensive in tone in your responses, that's why the thread has gone the way it has. Nothing to do with "keyboard warriors", just a lot of people who spend a lot of time dealing with this sort of issue, I guess - other people parking badly round schools is pretty much something that will affect everyone with primary-aged DC in one way or another.

P1nkP0ppy · 10/11/2015 16:36

Why don't you just put your hands up, admit you were in the wrong and say it won't happen again OP?

You clearly posted expecting everyone to support you.....bad decision, all you've shown is that you don't like the responses Grin

whooshbangprettycolours · 10/11/2015 16:38

Bad parking causes frustration and for other people to drive as they might not do otherwise. It is therefore dangerous and lead to an therefore cause an accident. OP you don't like it because it doesn't suit your view of the world.

whooshbangprettycolours · 10/11/2015 16:38

If I could write it would help.... but I doubt you'll pay any attention anyway, so who cares.

MrsBertMacklin · 10/11/2015 16:41

School haven't done anything wrong - you were parked in public, number plates are fixed to cars to help identify them, no breach of privacy / the data protection act has occurred.

Source: I do this all the time for work and have received legal advice on the above before publishing photographs.

IoraRua · 10/11/2015 16:41

I love these threads.
OP: Am I in the wrong?
MN: Yes
OP: Fuck you all.

Am really loling at the reaction from you, OP. I dont support women just because they've a vagina - too many preshus snoflaykes out there who are just, eh, wrong!

MrsBertMacklin · 10/11/2015 16:42

Ps - the 'only for a minute' excuse is bullshit. The rules about parking aren't qualified with 'but they don't apply if you only need to park for a minute'. Suck it up.
