December 2025 FET

Is anyone going to have a FET in December?

I was expecting to have one in January but when I went to the clinic yesterday they are going to try and squeeze a natural FET cycle in before the Christmas break!

I am 36, had my first egg collection last month but wasn't suitable for a fresh transfer. If my cycle plays ball my transfer will be 15th-17th December.

Hopeful for a lovely Christmas present but also being realistic given age and first transfer etc.

I'm so so sorry @BellaTink647 and @AnonTTC.
That must be so hard to go through.
I hope you are managing to look after yourselves ❤️ xx

Aw @AnxiousHopeful you aren't taking away from anything. This journey is tough and we all have anxieties and questions about what's next and it is scary!

Not sure if this helps, but we also used our 'best' embryo first (it was 5AA). Before all of this stuff happened I'd read loads about grading and as @CoolSummer89 has alluded to, the majority of what I read was that grading doesn't really correlate to success. Yes, it gives a good indication of initial cell division and what stage the embryo is at (hatching, expanded etc) but it really can't predict genetics, and I'm clearly quite a good example of this as our 5AA stuck, but stopped growing at 5 weeks (which I'm assuming/hoping was a chromosomal issue because if not there's another problem we don't know about!).

Bottom line is that I've heard plenty of stories of people having successful pregnancies with their 'lower grade' embryos so I definitely wouldn't worry. And on the flip side, if you'd used a different one this time round and had a negative result you'd probably be wishing they'd used the best one so it's really tricky to know what's best without having a crystal ball!

I just had to come and say @BellaTink647 and @AnonTTC I'm so sorry 💔 What horrible news to have after positive tests, and the wait for the scan is so long and anxious. I know for both of you it's the first transfer so really hoping you have success on the next one, and @AnonTTC I think you're absolutely right, take the time to grieve but there is no reason that future transfers should end the same way. You will be able to go on and have a viable pregnancy.

Thinking of you, hope you can both take some time to process and grieve 💚

whysohardtogetusername · 05/01/2026 17:45

Also @AnxiousHopeful I really do think that doesn't mean that was necessarily. your 'best' embryo. It's also about the embryologist and that can be subjective. Before we went for transfer I remember talking to our embryologist and they said they would look at 3 of our embryos to see which one they thought looked best. The grading varied from good to average/fair. They eventually put the one which was second best graded back in. I didn't ask why but trusted their judgement. So you may have a better chance with your next embryo. Also I said this before but my best friend had success with her embryo which was something like a 3BB or 3BC, it was right at the bottom of the grading, the doctor even said not a great chance. She now has a lovely, healthy little boy. There's no reason this won't be the case for you too. I know this is so hard, but I just wanted to say it is possible and not to worry too much about grading 💚.

@BellaTink647 @AnonTTC im so sorry!! When you go through ivf a miscarriage is jusf so cruel! I’m so sorry and sending so much love to you all! It’s particularly tough at the start of a new year as well, so sorry for you both! Hope you’re able to give yourselves time and find something that brings you a little bit of joy in the near future but sending lots of love ❤️

zirafica · 05/01/2026 18:57

From someone who did do pgta testing, our best embryo (a 5AB) turned out to be an aneuploid (genetically abnormal)! So we transferred the only euploid we had from the top 7 which was a 5BB

BellaTink647 · 05/01/2026 19:35

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Really grateful to have this thread ♡

@zirafica yes of course I had the cramping and bleeding 2 weeks ago so I did have in my mind this may well be the result. But that was so brief, and didn't amount to much at all, and my clinic didnt seem concerned so I've spent a lot of the last 2 weeks trying not to worry and keep positive which obviously now I feel was a waste of energy and I should have given up all hope 2 weeks ago. But it's an impossible situation isn't it... really can't win!

@AnonTTC so so sorry to hear you have experienced similar ♡ it does seem extra cruel after seeing a positive test. We are also keen to try with our 1 remaining embryo as soon as possible. I have an appt at the EPU tomorrow so they can definitely rule out ectopic then I can stop the meds and wait for bleed. My clinic like to wait for first real period before booking in the next round though so I know it'll be a bit of a wait. Will try and plan some fun stuff for the next couple of months to have some things to look forward to. Sending you lots of love and positivity too.

AnonTTC · 06/01/2026 10:03

Thank you @BellaTink647 - hope you're doing okay? ❤️ hope your appt goes okay today with the EPU, it's really rubbish having to have additional scans etc when we know the outcome. I had my bloods done yesterday which has confirmed they've plummeted back down to around where they were when we first found out, so we know for sure now (but I already knew deep down).

I'm definitely flitting between focusing on the next one and moving on and then feeling so sad and angry about the whole situation because we wouldn't have needed to think about this if everything had gone to plan. I totally understand it is unfortunately a natural part of early pregnancy (IVF or not) but feel like one of the unlucky ones tbh (if I didn't already!!). Naturally I now have nerves of this happening again due to some sort of issue we're not aware of, but from a positive POV I have read that the likelihood of it happening again are small, and apparently people who have been pregnant via IVF and had early loss have a great chance of going on to be successful from subsequent rounds, so I need to try and focus on that rather than the what ifs.

I'm sure the next few weeks/months will have some tough moments for us both but keeping everything crossed we will have a more positive outcome in the near future x

Hi Ladies,

@AnonTTC I'm so so sorry to read your news. Devastating after the rollercoaster of emotions you've had. I'm glad you're planning some self care things to enjoy to let your brain and heart rest & recover.

@BellaTink647 I'm also sorry to read your news. Such a tough time between test & scan. I hope you're doing okay.

@AnxiousHopeful thinking of you too.

@Peonies94 have you had your appointment yet?

Our forum seems to have done a bit of a 180 after so many initial positives. I hope everyone is managing as best they can and has some opportunity for self care.

My blood tests went went & have a viability scan on Thursday.

OneQuirkyPanda · 06/01/2026 12:24

@BellaTink647 and @AnonTTC so sorry, this journey is really hard isn’t it, I had a chemical with my first transfer, it did help me to focus on next steps and know that most women who have a loss go onto have healthy pregnancies, sending you both my love ❤️

zirafica · 06/01/2026 13:20

Hi all,

to throw some good news in, just had our viability scan and we’re tracking to exact transfer date and have a strong heartbeat.

good luck to all those waiting for their scans in the next couple of weeks ♥️

Peonies94 · 06/01/2026 13:32

@zirafica congrstulations great news.

Had our scan today and unfortunately although baby was measuring 8+2 so exactly where it should be, there was no heartbeat! We’re devestated and now have a hospital appointment for medical management this week!

wishing everyone the best of luck and sending love to those who things aren’t so happy for ❤️

That’s amazing news! How far along are you? My clinic won’t scan me until I’m 8 weeks so I’ve booked a private scan at 7 weeks as feel like if there’s no heartbeat then it’s definitely over.

zirafica · 06/01/2026 14:05

@Peonies94 oh i'm so sorry! god after all the positives it has genuinely been an onslaught of bad news. how is the baby still growing without a heartbeat, i can't believe how many things can go wrong. i'm so sorry!
@OneQuirkyPanda i'm 7w5d!

Peonies94 · 06/01/2026 14:16

@zirafica om guessing it must have stopped beating in the last 24 hours! I know, so much bad news! Wishing you the best of luck!

AnonTTC · 06/01/2026 14:17

Hi all,

@zirafica - really pleased for you that your scan went well and it was good news, particularly as I seem to remember reading you have had a previous early loss? Apologies if I am remembering that incorrectly ❤️

@Peonies94 - my heart is breaking for you. I'm so, so sorry. Early loss is heart-breaking enough, never mind with the added news that your baby had grown in line with your dates 😔 As others have said, I hope you are being kind to yourself and know that this is nothing you have done. Sending so much love and hope ❤️ x

zirafica · 06/01/2026 14:22

@Peonies94 this whole process is such shit, i'm sorry
@AnonTTC thank you. this was my first egg collection and first FET, no previous miscarriages. however it was a tested euploid so we had a head start on any genetic issues.

BellaTink647 · 06/01/2026 16:46

@AnonTTC thank you, really appreciate your positive words. I feel less sad today than u did yesterday, but as you say I'm sure that will come in waves! Hope you are doing ok.

EPU appt wasn't quite as quick as I expected. No different news, but I thought they'd just confirm no viable pregnancy and let us move on. Instead they spent ages scanning and then took some bloods. Should get the update on those tonight which I really hope say that hcg levels are already low so we can just move on and start looking ahead to a new transfer. Otherwise they will probably get me back for more bloods in a couple of days and maybe even another scan which I feel is just unnecessary!

@zirafica pleased for you! We definitely need some positive stories here after this wave of bad news!

Thinking of everyone else and send all the best wishes for more positive news for us all soon x

whysohardtogetusername · 06/01/2026 20:34

@Peonies94 I'm so, so sorry. That's such a horrible shock after it seemed like everything was going as expected💔. What an awful rollercoaster.

whysohardtogetusername · 06/01/2026 20:53

I didn't post yesterday as I felt that the thread was in a different space, but we had our 7 week scan on Monday and everything was fine. There was a strong heartbeat and measuring dead on. We've now been discharged from our IVF clinic. Taken off pessaries too. I think the next scan is at 12 weeks, which feels like a long time to wait.

BellaTink647 · 06/01/2026 22:01

Pleased for you @whysohardtogetusername! Hope all continues to go well for you.

Bees28 · 07/01/2026 00:44

My levels went up to 940, so now I’m just waiting until the first scan to see how things look in about a week!

Im so sorry to all that have had bad news. My heart goes out to you! I can say I’ve been there and don’t give up!

AnonTTC · 07/01/2026 08:28

That’s brilliant news @whysohardtogetusername - really pleased for you! & it’s nice to see some positive news from a few of us, particularly for those who are waiting for their first scans (I started to feel really guilty that we were potentially making people much more anxious ahead of their first scans but I guess it is just the harsh reality).

Thanks for your kind and reassuring words @CollsR - really glad things are looking positive for you this time around.

CoolSummer89 · 07/01/2026 08:40

oh @Peonies94 that is so devastating I am so sorry, you have been through so much already. Really hope you get to meet your rainbow baby soon. 🌈
