IVF/ICSI/ egg collection October

Hi - thought I’d start a new thread for anyone who will start an IVF/ICSI cycle in September for an egg collection in October.

Long protocol here - starting prep month in September, stims in October, with egg collection around 21 October.

Hey @AnotherLiv how is it going? Was egg collection today or will that be on Monday?

Unfortunately things haven’t been going to plan for me.

My esteogen levels were too high so had to stop stims a couple of days ago. Had a scan today and still only had a couple of follicles at the right size, and my womb lining had thinned out.

So based on all of this we’re going to abandon this cycle. Plan is now to have a follow up with the consultant and try again after Christmas.

How was your latest scan - sounds like much more positive news on your side?

Oh I'm sorry to hear that @AnotherLiv! That sounds equally frustrating and disappointing, are you doing this through the NHS?

Actually not sure things are going so much better on my side. I have had one dominant follicle all week and about 10 follicles which are growing very slowly (like 1mm over 2 days). Will stim over the weekend and see what the case is on Monday morning.

Yes all through the NHS - they seem tentatively optimistic that by altering the medication/doses we can get a better result. And by stopping before egg collection, we haven’t used up our NHS round.

Oh I’m sorry to hear that - they’re still growing though, and it seems a lot can change in only a few days! So hopefully the smaller ones will catch up 🤞

Oh glad to hear this won't affect your entitlement, but still not where you want to be.

Thank you, yes hoping a few more days at this bigger dose means they will keep growing.

Further update.. 33 eggs down to 27, down to 19, day 3 all 19. Day 5 update 1 little 4AB blastocyst the rest have arrested and we have 3 early blastocysts to be left to grow for 1 more evening. I’m not terribly hopeful and I’m lucky we have one but I’m a little heartsore still. The drop off for us is always so dramatic. MFI sucks.

I’m so sorry @Liesontoast this must be extremely painful for both you and your partner. Will keep all my fingers and toes crossed for the 4AB and the two remainders that are still trying their best ❤️

@CoolSummer89 good luck with the increased doses this weekend, my scan is similar a few dominant follicles on left but everything else growing slow, feels like they may trigger us at similar times?

Hi all,
A couple of bits of news from me, 4 of my follicles are now over 18mm so I am triggering tonight with egg collection on Wednesday.
I have had a premature progesterone rise - which apparently can happen in FSH-only stimulation - so this cycle will have to be a freeze all. Really hoping that we get some good blastocysts so that my husband and I can relax over Christmas and hopefully have a few drinks 🍸
How is everyone else doing?

Clinic decided they wanted to push me on stims for an extra day so ill be triggering tomorrow night with EC on Thursday

Hello everyone, I am hoping for egg collection next weeks, scan today still showing follicles not quite there yet

Hello! Joining late- just took my trigger shots last night -going for collection tomorrow. 9 follicles on last scan which my doctor was happy about given my age. Trying for a sibling for my DD who was also conceived from IVF. Feeling the length of the process this time around….

I was there last week @IndigoBluey i was eating so much protein over the weekend I felt like a muscle bro! Not sure if it helped but I was able to trigger on Monday. Best of luck for the next few days.

@CoolSummer89thank you. Scan earlier and there isn’t much change since earlier this week. Biggest one only 13mm. Will check out the protein and see if anything else I can do before next appt but I am thinking it’s maybe not going to work this cycle to get to egg collection.

@IndigoBluey I completely understand, I was so worried about the size too I did a whole separate post on it.
On Friday I had 1x15mm 1x14mm and the rest were all under 13mm, including some under 10mm that they didn't bother counting.
On Monday these had all grown to 12mm-22mm, and then on Wednesday they were all collected and were mature.
My DH and I have been very lucky so far, so I'm just focusing on the good news that we have and trying not to think too much about the day 5 update, it's a freeze all so they have to be good quality otherwise we are left with nothing.

Everyone is on their own journey, so this may not happen for you but I want to give some hope. If it does need to be cancelled, then your doctors have more knowledge for next time and should know what protocol works. So whatever happens you will be in a stronger position than you were.

@CoolSummer89 thanks so much, that is helpful to know, it’s nice to have a little hope. It sure is a journey! Thankfully I’m off work for the next few days which feels like a big relief as work had been hectic and was feeling overwhelmed between that and the cycle process. I’m going to take my thoughts elsewhere today and go for a browse in the shops and do some exercise to clear my head. No point stressing until Monday. Hi all, it was OTD today and it’s negative 😟 it’s the end of the journey for us unfortunately as we always said we’ll try one more round of ivf to get our little girl a sibling. We can’t conceive naturally and I’m already 40.
