July IVF/ICSI/FET

I didn’t see a thread for July IVF yet. I am due to start stims around 18Jul with estrogen priming starting the week before that. Collection will be the end of July all going well.
This will be my second IVF and I will be using ICSI. I will be 40 during treatment and 41 come collection. I have a child from my first IVF 3 years ago. Since then I had a chemical pregnancy Dec 2024 with my only other embryo from my 2022 cycle and a failed IUI in Feb this year.
I found the discussion board really helpful and supportive in my first IVF round as we all understand the crazy ups and downs of this rollercoaster. Wondering if there are any others with similar timing?

Thanks for all the support ❤️ The clinic messaged me there and said they are leaving me on my current dose (387.5 Pergoveris) over the weekend and scan Monday morning. I know I probably need to rest and let my body focus on growing some follies but with two sick parents and a toddler that’s near on impossible 🤣

Good luck @DeeKel 🍀Lol - I love how doctors advise rest, apparently oblivious that toddlers don't allow us to do that. EVER!

IndigoBluey · 25/07/2025 17:28

I’ll join for interest, I’m a little early as likely an August date for me but trying to get clued up as I am a complete novice. Wishing you all well this month

IndigoBluey · 25/07/2025 17:32

Would anyone be willing to share their experience of how you found the egg retrieval procedure? I think at my consultation after initial appointment they mentioned it is done under anaesthetic but there was so much info to taken in I can’t quite remember.

Timetotryagain · 25/07/2025 18:43

@IndigoBluey egg retrieval is the best bit haha! They basically give you some sedation medication via iv, you wake up 2 seconds later and then you feel a bit giddy and relaxed and then they tell you in a bit how many eggs! I did throw up in the car home as i always do after anesthetic but then I just rested for the rest of the day. Good luck!

VioIetMoon · 25/07/2025 19:03

@IndigoBluey for me personally , I was given light sedation to relax me but I didn't sleep . I was awake and aware through the retrieval but I didn't feel anything other than the initial needle prick , although I think he inserted too soon. I think experiences vary, most people have a light sleep. Some choose to go under full anesthetic and then theres also the option of no anesthetic.

I was quite crampy afterwards, I was given paracetamol and Co codamel . It was like really bad period pain but subsided maybe 2 or 3 hours later . I had some light bleeding aswell that lasted a few hours but all in all it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be . Can't be as I'm currently doing it again

RainbowFluff · 25/07/2025 20:46

@IndigoBluey I’ve had four retrievals at two different clinics, slept through the whole thing every time. I don’t know if that’s how I react or linked to the type of sedation they use. They put an oxygen mask on you and the sedation is injected into a vein. Afterwards varies but usually I’m not too sore, with some of them I didn’t even take paracetamol afterwards whereas with others I needed painkillers for a day or two. I never feel sick but that depends on the person I think, I do find it hard to wake up and feel very groggy for a few hours after.

Miraclemuma03 · 26/07/2025 00:49

@DeeKel i really hope your cycle doesnt get cancelled and they find more follicles.. sometimes the bigger ones hide.

So update: I got 3 fertilised. Fingers are xd one of them make it for transfer.

Miraclemuma03 · 26/07/2025 01:14

Traybakelover · 25/07/2025 10:42

Hi , sorry can I ask a personal question. Those of you who had successful rounds, was your bmi under the 30?

This is my first cycle where my bmi is over 30 so I dont have any success stories as yet but there are lots of woman with bmi over 30 with great success. So far though my weight hasnt had an impact on stims or egg collection.

Yayy!! @Miraclemuma03 was it last cycle that you had total fertilsation failure?

RainbowFluff · 26/07/2025 14:38

@Miraclemuma03 congratulations! Fingers crossed for next steps.

@Traybakelover my BMI is around 25/26, I did get pregnant on my first IVF cycle (MMC at 7 weeks) but haven’t managed to get anything to transfer in subsequent cycles so not sure if it makes a difference or not.

StorkVisit · 26/07/2025 15:28

I had my egg retrieval yesterday. Out of 8 follicles, I had 5 eggs. This morning the embryologist phoned to say only one fertilised :-(
im so disappointed

Pinguino24 · 26/07/2025 18:12

@StorkVisit I am so sorry to hear that! So disappointing. Puts a lot of pressure on the next few days and you must be feeling so anxious. Fingers crossed for that little one to grow! Did you ask the lab any questions about why the lower fertilisation rate? Surely they should be able to give you some idea why they think that might be.

RainbowFluff · 26/07/2025 19:57

@StorkVisit I’m sorry, that’s a huge disappointment after everything you go through in an ivf cycle. Is it your first cycle? Sometimes there are things they can do to optimise the outcome once they know where the issues are.

ALittleExpressive · 26/07/2025 20:45

@DeeKel hey there, sounds like you've had a rough patch. I'll be thinking of you on Monday and hope that some movement and growth will improve the situ over these next couple of days.

@StorkVisit oh dear, that's really hard, I'm so sorry. How far into your IVF journey are you? I hope your consultants will provide more context shortly.

Miraclemuma03 · 26/07/2025 21:53

Hi @Timetotryagain . How are you going?

Yes last cycle was full failure of fertilisation.

StorkVisit · 26/07/2025 22:15

Pinguino24, Rainbow Fluff,
they told me, 5 eggs had been retrieved. Out of the 5, one was immature, one had too many neucleuses. We did ICSI and out of the 3 injected only 1 fertilised.

StorkVisit · 26/07/2025 22:17

I’ve asked whether we might try conventional ivf next time if needed. The clinic said if you require icsi, they wouldn’t recommend ivf.
in also asked if we could have a day 3 transfer. My clinic don’t offer that. I’m praying this one keep developing and everything goes smoothly.
its my first cycle.

StorkVisit · 26/07/2025 22:20

@IndigoBluey my egg retrieval was ok. I was so nervous before it. I thought I’d be awake. I fell asleep. Drifted off and woke up to the nurses talking. My procedure was 8:30. I was out by 11. I woke up sooner and was told to keep sleeping.
i came home and slept for 3 hours. I was really crampy. Cocodomol helped. I’m still bleeding. Did anyone else find that was the case

Bloop123 · 27/07/2025 08:27

@Miraclemuma03 congrats on the 3 that’s great.
@StorkVisit im so sorry you didn’t get good news, but hopefully your one embryo goes strong.

i had my day 3 phone call yesterday, out of my 2 embryos, 1 is out of the running. And my other only had 4 cells, so they don’t think will make it to day 5. I’m feeling heart broken already, I just don’t know why my eggs are doing this at my age :( feels so unfair

StorkVisit · 27/07/2025 09:27

I’m so sorry. The waiting is awful. I hope you get some good news and you have one strong blast ready to attach on Monday.
my clinic don’t do a day 3 call so I’m waiting until Wednesday anxiously for good news.

RainbowFluff · 27/07/2025 10:08

@StorkVisit Is it a private clinic? We’ve had something called AOA with the recent cycle which is supposed to improve fertilisation rates although this wasn’t a problem for us so I couldn’t say if it works! Hopefully your embryo will be fine and you’ll never need to think about it x

@Bloop123 I’m thinking of you today, that’s such hard news to hear.
