Hello

I have almost finished a long protocol of Meriofert 300 and Gonal F 75ui. My EC is due the week commencing 7/10/24 😅

A little background… I had a successful round of IVF on my first round in 2020. Although it was a close call. My issue is… I only manage to get ONE poor quality embryo. Since my successful round, I have since had 2 failed ones. However, it’s time to go again. Aiming to transfer mid October.

Wondering if there are any cycle buddies out there and a little back story. Good luck to all x

I'm crossing my fingers for you all! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Sadly our cycle just ended in bleeding :( (11days post transfer) so feeling pretty gutted. Due to test officially on the 20th but I’m pretty sure it’s a period.

Any tips on how to manage the disappointment? It’s our first cycle so it’s all a bit of a rollercoaster.

pumpkinspicewaffles · 17/10/2024 17:46

@He11oKitty <3 sorry to hear that! I hope whatever you decide on next works out for you.

pumpkinspicewaffles · 17/10/2024 20:36

I'm continuing to test very faintly positive with maybe the tiniest of darkening, but I tried a digital and it said negative. I'm 11dp5dt -- honestly speaking, does this sound like a chemical?

Did you have fresh embryo transfer? Could be chemical.

No, frozen.

grasyas · 17/10/2024 21:16

@pumpkinspicewaffles did you do test this evening? Try the first urine in the morning. Or digital test might be defective

Been watching this thread for a few days but had issues creating an account on here trying to use my FB app.... anyway, jumping on the band wagon if that's okay!

My wife and I are a SSC and on day 7 post fresh embryo transfer. Official test date is 21st October, but after reading about people doing early tests, we nearly did one earlier before talking ourselves out of it. My wife is the carrier, she's 29 and bloody beautiful. We've had abit of a turbulent journey so far, we're using ABC IVF in Bham and this is our first ever cycle just for context.

During her initial scan, she had around 23 follicles in one ovary and 11 in the other. We don't feel anywhere near as clued up as some of you guys are in terms of what type of protocol we are on, we literally just do what they tell us (being novices) which I am now somewhat regretting!

Anyway, I don't know the official names of things, but my wife was put on a dose of 112.5 FSH stimulation from day 2 of her AF, she was scanned 3 days later (on day 5) at which point she had one large follicle already and lots of smaller ones developing nicely. She then started the certritide 2 days later (day 7), she then had another scan on day 8, at which point she had over 30 large follicles and they were concerned about OHSS, a blood test confirmed that luckily she hadn't. Another scan on day 10 (the first one with a doctor present and not just a nurse) showed that she had loads of large follicles and he immediately told her to stop taking the FSH, and they would do another blood test, to check again for OHSS and to determine which trigger shot she should take. They gave us two trigger shots and called later that day to tell us which one to take and that egg collection would be on the Friday (day 12). Considering my wife's follicle count (even before stims) we expected a really decent egg retrieval count but were disappointed to hear they only collected 8 😩 they called the next day (the Saturday) to confirm only 5 fertilised, then called again on the Monday to say one is looking superior to the remaining 4 and they wanted to do the transfer that afternoon (it was an 8 cell 3 day embryo at this stage). Transfer all went okay, we saw it all really clearly on the ultrasound monitor and got a clear pic of the embryo sat in the lining, so that was good.

The remaining 4 embryos were left to develop for another 2 days (day 5pt), they called us on the Wednesday to say only one was looking viable, and it was eventually given a grade of 4CB (which according to Google is considered poor). This one is now in the freezer.

So now we are 10 days post transfer and stresssssssssing. If this doesn't work, the clinic want another £2.5k to try the frozen one, which has poor prospects based on the grading. My wife doesn't feel pregnant, she's had the odd twinge and tender boobs, but any symptoms she's felt can be explained away by the progesterone pessaries or could be a sign of AF. This TWW is TORTURE.

We don't mean to be ungrateful but we are disappointed with the low egg and embryo yield, especially with the quality. We kind of feel that they didn't get her meds right and rushed her through some of the stages just based on follicle count, even though bloods showed she was fine. We've read that 'empty follicles' is abit of a myth and it's far more likely that the eggs just weren't mature and so weren't released. Don't know what to think, did they tell her to take trigger shot too soon? Did they have her on too much of a low dose of FSH? Did they give her the wrong trigger shot?

Anyway, sorry for the essay, like I say I've been reading this thread for days and built up all this info in my head to share until now. We're 4 days off our OTD and trying not to cave beforehand. It's been great to read about all your experiences whilst we wait.

@Hummingbird36 not clued up enough here to help. I also just did what I was told. Fingers crossed for test day!
Our collection was back in 2022 and we are currently doing an FET.
trigger was last night, pessaries start tomorrow and transfer booked for Tuesday

Hopingforno2in2024 · 18/10/2024 06:53

I hope you get a clear line this morning @pumpkinspicewaffles.

Welcome @Hummingbird36. It is often said that the first IVF cycle is a bit of a test as the clinic don't know how someone will respond and it is on the second one that they can work out exactly the right combination of drugs etc. I realise that isn't very comforting however when each cycle costs so much and is so physically and emotionally draining. If this transfer doesn't work ask to have a review appointment with your clinic and go through everything. Fingers crossed the transfer has worked however!

My heart rate has gone up again this morning so now at 61bpm. I felt quite nauseous last night but of course that could be anything and I feel fine this morning. The feeling of my period coming as gone at least. The aim for today is to get through without bleeding and order the pregnancy tests. Very nervous as this is the exact day it all went wrong with my failed transfer.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 18/10/2024 06:54

So sorry to hear about your bleeding @He11oKitty! When I had my failed transfer I gave myself a few days of doing the things you shouldn't do during IVF (drank caffeine etc). I just was really kind to myself and treated myself.

Wonderwall1988 · 18/10/2024 08:05

@He11oKitty @pumpkinspicewaffles @Sineadttc sending lots of love to you all❤️
I still haven’t tested yet, but don’t really have any symptoms so I’m not feeling too hopeful at the moment. Otd is tomorrow so will know for sure then 😬
I hope everyone else is coping ok in the 2ww!
xxx

Yeah that actually sounds really logical, thanks for the advice!!

Good luck everyone approaching OTD, ours is Monday, but my wife wants to test a day early on Sunday to give us an extra day to process before going back to work on the Tues. she still has no symptoms so we aren't hopeful still. Xx

Hopingforno2in2024 · 18/10/2024 10:55

Just ordered my tests ready for Sunday :)

Hummingbird36 · 18/10/2024 11:25

My wife just messaged me whilst at work, she is 11 days post 3 day embryo fresh transfer and has just had some very light pink spotting and some tummy twinges. Do we think this is too late for implantation and a sign of her period? X

Hopingforno2in2024 · 18/10/2024 12:02

It's impossible to say @Hummingbird36, some people have bleeding and get a BFP, for others it means it hasn't worked. The only thing that will tell you is a pregnancy test unfortunately. The TWW is so horrible and stressful ❤️

Hummingbird36 · 18/10/2024 12:25

@Hopingforno2in2024 I know you're absolutely right but it's so hard not to speculate. We don't want to test early as have seen others do that and it's complicated things or caused undue stress. Arghhh roll on Monday x

Hopingforno2in2024 · 18/10/2024 12:31

I'm the same with the testing early @Hummingbird36 and the last couple of days are always the worst

pumpkinspicewaffles · 18/10/2024 13:27

@Hummingbird36 i had a massive bleed just after my positive with my daughter and all was fine, but it can be the sign of it not working so as Hoping said you only know from the test and then scan 😕 the waiting is the worst! Hope it works out 🙏🏻

Hopingforno2in2024 · 19/10/2024 06:18

24 hours until I test. Heart rate has gone down to 60bpm today which I know isn't a real dip but it has upset me. I hate this wait!

Wonderwall1988 · 19/10/2024 06:27

@Hopingforno2in2024
good luck for tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞

pumpkinspicewaffles · 19/10/2024 08:03

Welll today is my official test day and after a bit of a rollercoaster (what I get for testing early) I think for now I can say I’m positive 🥹 I know it’s no guarantee at this stage but I’m going to let myself be excited for today at least.

I hope everyone else gets their positive asap, even if it wasn’t this round ♥️
