August BFPs after IVF

Morning everyone, inspired by similar threads on this board, I wondered if anyone wanted to join me in the anxious wait from a BFP after IVF to first scans.

I had an FET on 22 July and have my first scan on 20 August. I hate this time of waiting for a scan and find it worse than the initial two week wait!

Congratulations @Mfiwife, a little girl is such a blessing.

@Toon49 and @GingerTea333 it’s hard not be anxious but most scans will go well more likely than not at this stage. I can relate though!

@kirstysmbc hope all is well at your end!

All went well at my 20 week scan! Feel so relieved. Although I've now found something else to worry about (obviously!) I have back pain and feel like a heaviness in my pelvis - I know these are very normal symptoms but it's sent me into panic that I'll go into labour before baby is old enough to be ok. Is anyone else experiencing back pain, round ligament pain, heaviness in pelvis? I thought it might be too early but according to google it's quite normal. Not having any contraction like pains or bleeding, loss of fluid etc. so maternity unit have told me everything is completely normal and not to worry but I can't help it!

Hi @Mfiwife . Glad your appointment went well, can’t wait for mine on Wednesday.

I have been having back pain on and off most of my pregnancy. Not even related to baby weight as I would expect this in 3rd trimester. Once it was so bad it woke me up from sleep. I have been referred for physio and my first session is later this week. It may just be a case of strengthening/supporting back until baby gets here so I am not uncomfortable for next 4 and a bit months.

Keep an eye on it and see if you can get support if it is ongoing. It can be very normal at this stage.

Hi ladies, sorry for the delayed response, I've just been in Lanzarote for a week enjoying some winter sunshine with my mum and daughter. Glad to hear everyone is getting along nicely, and @Mfiwife congrats on the scan today. Could the pain be pelvic girdle pain? Not a risk to baby, but can be pretty painful from what friends have said.

I'm doing ok, have my 20 week scan on Thursday. I've had quite a few scans already for various reasons and I've got an anterior, low lying placenta, which will hopefully move up, but does mean I'm not yet really feeling any movement. And I've also got a short cervix after my difficult birth last time, so that will be scanned again this week and a decision made on whether I need any treatment for that. The big risk it can cause is significantly early delivery, so need to watch that. Baby seems to be all ok though, so that's good.

Good luck to others with scans coming up soon

Yes think I will mention it to my midwife and see if I can get a referral, I do worry that if it's bad now, how much worse it will get the further along I am! I also have two dogs that need walking daily so really need my back in working order! Bet you can't wait for Wednesday @Faith2024 I really enjoyed the scan, was so nice going through everything and them being so thorough.

Glad everything is going well with you @kirstysmbc I did read about PGP and my hips are also hurting especially in bed so perhaps that's what it is. I also had a scan at 15 weeks for a short cervix, instigated by me because my transfers were always so complex but it measured at 39mm which I think is normal? I do worry though that this could shorten at any time. I wish I had another scan for it but not sure they will scan me again. How have yours gone so far?

Hey everybody, I've just really enjoyed reading all your news and catching up with your updates. Hearing about your 20 week scans had made me excited for mine on the 28th. We also caved and had a gender scan when we visited my parents in Devon... We're having a boy!!! I'm currently 19 weeks tomorrow and also have an anterior placenta so, not really felt any movement yet. I can't wait for that as I think it'll give me more reassurance.

Faith2024 · 20/11/2024 17:34

Great to hear all is well @kirstysmbc.

Congrats @Becky105 , a little boy!

I had my 20 weeks scan today and while 90% of stuff looked fine they couldn’t see all they needed to measure. Went for a walk &
jumped around but baby refused go move from upside down fetal position. I am going back for a rescan in 2 weeks but not too worried.

They also said I had a low lying placenta and booked me for additional scan at 32 weeks but 8/10 times it moves up so we will see.
