August BFPs after IVF

Morning everyone, inspired by similar threads on this board, I wondered if anyone wanted to join me in the anxious wait from a BFP after IVF to first scans.

I had an FET on 22 July and have my first scan on 20 August. I hate this time of waiting for a scan and find it worse than the initial two week wait!

@EvaA17 no, it was just the one kind of gush of blood then yesterday I had some brown, like the end of a period. Then nothing. My tummy was a bit crampy yesterday and I had an awareness of a low heavy felt all day long. I also lost my nausea. Friday morning I was gagging for at least 20 mines after I ate anything... Saturday nothing, this morning nothing but this afternoon I've felt quite sicky again.

I will go to my epu tomorrow. I just need a bit more clarity.

I spoke to my clinic and they were very kind, they offered me an earlier scan. I need to go to Devon to see my poorly mum, so I asked for 27th August. I've also kept my original date of 3rd September so if all is well on 27th I'll cancel the one a week later.

You're so right, ivf is so all consuming. I miss being able to daydream rather than constantly googling or checking forums. (a real low point in my journey was researching pictures of people's miscarriages or tissues containing bleeds - now that was a rabbit hole I didn't expect to become so invested in). But I agree we are warrior women and made of very tough stuff 😘

Hi @Becky105 I hope you're feeling better today. I'm sorry you're going through that, hopefully the scan will show a healthy embryo growing in the right place 🤞 we're having the first scan on the same day now (27th)! It feels such a long time ahead !

Kp121 · 19/08/2024 10:57

Hello ladies
Im officially out the TWW and testing positive!
Just waiting to hear back from the clinic to hopefully get our scan booked! ☺️

Faith2024 · 19/08/2024 14:21

Welcome @mlruirod :-) & congratulations @Kp121 . Very exciting.

@Becky105 how did it go? I hope all is OK, thinking of you.

I have had my scan today. Measuring 6 weeks 6 days. Everything looks good and strong heartbeat, they could even count number of beats per minute. Starting to feel real. Still early days but I am allowing myself to be happy for now. I will have another scan in 2 weeks when it’s 8 weeks 6 days. I also got a schedule of when medication is being reduced and stopped. Only 3 more weeks of lubion & inhixa. The rest of the meds will be reduced up to 12 weeks with one cyclojest up to 14 weeks.

@kirstysmbc I agree, food helps with nausea but as soon as I am done eating feel disgusted with the sensation. It is what it is, and not as bad as last time so I am grateful.

I hope everyone’s upcoming scans go well & look forward to hearing good news.

Hi all.

Hope its okay to join.

I had my 2nd FET on 31st July and tested positive on 7dp5dt! First time I've ever seen a positive! Lines progressed well and I have my scan booked for next Wednesday.

I had a random day of spotting yesterday, started at 7am, heaviest at 10am but then light and sporadic through the day. I called the clinics out of hours and the Dr advised increasing my pessaries to 4x a day.
Still got very light spotting today. Called the clinic and they've said it's too early to scan but to insert the pessaries without an applicator instead.

I've noticed a few of you have had spotting too. It was reassuring to know the clinic weren't too worried but I'm a bag of nerves now!?

@Maddie23 Omg, it's my 2nd FET, I had the transfer on 31st July and also tested positive on 7dp5dt! Congratulations 🎊

Maddie23 · 19/08/2024 16:12

Omg no way @mlruirod transfer and BFP twins haha! Congratulations to you too!

Becky105 · 19/08/2024 17:33

@Faith2024 and @mlruirod thanks for thinking of me. I phoned epu and they booked me in at 3pm...they were running an hour late 😕. They went through all the details with me again but I was informed that in my panic yesterday I'd misheard my hcg result it is at 15,000 not 1,500. They did a scan and pretty much ruled out ectopic. Found the sac and pole but as yet no embryo... She said it's probably too early and to re scan in 2 weeks. She said there's still a chance that the pregnancy will not progress and that could be why I have experienced these symptoms.

I was really relieved that there is still something in there... Baby hasn't fallen out yet 🤞 and it's not stuck in my fallopian tubes 🙌. Obviously it would have been lovely to see an embryo but I'm delighted with today's outcome, I was preparing myself for a different one.

@Faith2024 so lovely to hear that you're scan went well!

Hi @Maddie23 spotting is scary but also very common.

kirstysmbc · 19/08/2024 22:13

@Kp121 @Maddie23 congrats and welcome!

@Faith2024 So pleased your scan went well and everything was on track with the little one. And must be helpful to know there's another one in the diary too. Interesting sounds your meds, I think my clinic want me to keep everything to 12 weeks but I'd happily drop some a bit earlier. My last FET I only had to do meds until 10 weeks.

@Becky105 Glad everything went ok today and I hope it's not too anxious a wait until your next scan. Hopefully you'll get to see everything right on track then.

My scan is first thing tomorrow and the scanxiety is building up now 🤦🏻‍♀️

Had my scan this morning and all is well, little bean measuring right on track and saw the heartbeat flickering away. Interestingly they gave me a different due date based on my transfer date, pushing it back to 10 April. Next scan booked in for two weeks time.

OP posts:
Kp121 · 20/08/2024 12:31

That’s exciting @kirstysmbc ! Forgive me for being silly but how can they move your due date? Surely they know based on when you had your transfer?

GingerTea333 · 20/08/2024 13:26

Hi all, joining in if that’s ok! Currently 5w3 and also keep having spotting / bleeding and going out of my mind! This was our first successful FET after 3 failed so I am constantly terrified. So helpful to see other people are going through the same and that I’m not alone in being a nervous wreck!

Becky105 · 20/08/2024 13:38

@kirstysmbc that's great news! So delighted for you. @Kp121 speaking of due dates, it was funny because at my early scan, the consultant was struggling to calculate my due date. I said I'd used an online calculator and she said so had she but with different results 🤔

@GingerTea333 loving your username, my lemon and ginger teas are the only thing helping with my increasing nausea. You're in the same boat as me, first BFP ever after 3 previous failed transfers. The bleeding and spotting has given me so much stress. But only time will tell.

Kp121 · 20/08/2024 13:41

How strange @Becky105 i used an online calculator as well. So hoping it’s right 😂

Maddie23 · 20/08/2024 14:55

Just thought I'd update! I passed a small clot yesterday so was really freaked.
Went in for an emergency early scan today and all looks fine with the gestational sac. Nurse was happy with the size for this stage. No heartbeat yet but as we're only 5w4 they weren't expecting it anyway.
Looks like it might just be old blood but she did say it may happen again but its very common apparently!
I've been given Lubion too for good measure.

Welcome @GingerTea333 we seem to only be a day apart!
Congratulations @kirstysmbc must have been so lovely to see the heartbeat!!

GingerTea333 · 20/08/2024 15:48

Thanks @Maddie23 and @Becky105! Passing a clot sounds terrifying, glad everything looks good!

After more spotting today my clinic has moved forward my early scan from 7 weeks to 6, so having it next week which will hopefully be reassuring! I’m also going in for more beta tests tomorrow and Friday to keep an eye on the levels. Feel like I’m constantly having to hide how crazy I feel inside!

Faith2024 · 20/08/2024 20:35

@kirstysmbc congratulations excellent news, happy for you. My ‘due date’ is a day earlier, I was counting Monday to be 6wks5 days but measured 6wks6 days, so that would be 8 April.

@Kp121 they calculate things based on how embryo is measuring I think? Maybe two embryos transferred on the same day can implant on different day? Who knows. i don’t think any of this is super accurate at this stage.

kirstysmbc · 20/08/2024 21:13

Thanks ladies, always nice to see things are looking ok for a while before the anxiety sets back in!

@Kp121 The sonographer used a calculator to determine my due date based on transfer date, it just gave a different date to the one that the online calculator I used gave. Officially due date isn't confirmed until the 12 week scam by the NHS.

@Faith2024 At this stage I think the measurements are so tiny that it's hard to be exact, which is why they wait for 12 weeks, so I wouldn't base due date on one measurement. With my previous IVF pregnancy they ignored the 12 week scan date and based it purely on transfer date which was deemed to be more accurate.

Faith2024 · 20/08/2024 21:29

@kirstysmbc good to know. I hope things progress well and I can get more accurate due date next month.

Mfiwife · 21/08/2024 11:14

Hi all congratulations on everyone who has seen heartbeats, I had my scan this morning & saw a heartbeat too 🥹 couldn’t stop crying. I’ve been staying off my phone as much as possible because I was so anxious! Hope those with spotting are doing ok. It’s such a scary time but hopefully you all see heartbeats soon too! Sending everyone lots of love x

Toon49 · 21/08/2024 17:00

Had a panic this morning as woke up to some bleeding. Rang the clinic and they brought me straight in for a scan and thankfully everything looks fine heartbeat and expected size! Massive relief who knows what the bleeding was but it's stopped now and everything looks fine which is all that matters.

GingerTea333 · 21/08/2024 20:46

Amazing news for everyone seeing heartbeats 💓😍 can’t even imagine how that feels, so pleased for you all

Becky105 · 26/08/2024 18:53

I'm booked in for my scan tomorrow, really hoping everything is as it should be. Would love to see a heartbeat ❤️

How is everyone getting on?

EvaA17 · 27/08/2024 12:08

@Becky105 good luck for the scan today. I hope it goes well xx

I am doing okay. Have had some spotting and brown discharge over the weekend which seems to have stopped now. I have another scan at my clinic on Friday, so hopefully everything is as it should be.

Hope everyone else is doing okay and enjoyed the BH weekend xx

Mfiwife · 27/08/2024 18:47

How did your scan go @Becky105 hope all went well ❤️

brown spotting is quite normal & old blood so try not to worry @EvaA17

I’m feeling quite sick now & so so grateful but also finding it hard not feeling myself. Really just want the first trimester to be over & everything be ok!

how’s everyone else doing? X
