IVF/ICSI May or late April

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

I am on day 3 of meriofert now but I'm not really feeling anything from it, when did you all start to feel something or did you not at all? I am probably way overthinking it but I was expecting some sort of hormonal crazy lady by now 😅😂
I add in Ganirelix on Friday as well so maybe that's when I will notice a difference.

That's great news!!! My next scan is on Friday too, I should be doing my trigger shot on Saturday and EC Monday! So we are on a similar timescale for our next steps! Can't believe it's happening so fast!!! Definitely feeling less stressed will make the world of difference!

I feel the same.. I thought I was going to this over emotional/over sensitive/crazy women! Hormonally I honestly feel pretty much the same.. however the past 2/3 days I have really started to feel a heaviness/uncomfortable sensation in my ovaries and headaches/tired😮‍💨😮‍💨! I started Ganirelix on Sunday and still seem to be feeling ok emotionally! Hopefully those follicles are growing and that all that matters 😍

@Gnatalie16 I didn’t really feel anything until day 10 of stims when my ovaries hurt especially when sat down. Other than that I felt really happy, but got really emotional over really random things like animals, soppy stuff on tv, all sorts! That was my only symptom before that - not usually a crier!

Ah okay I will hold out then and see what happens. I am already a crier at the most random stuff so maybe that’s why I haven’t noticed any difference 😂

I mean I have been getting twinges but nothing major and just thought it was the injection site more than anything

@Gnatalie16 I'm on day 8 now and it was only really day 6 I started to feel something "more" but I'll take anything as long as it means it's working haha

Haha @Gnatalie16 well then! I actually asked the nurse at my scan whether I should have side effects and she said it was more normal to not feel any different at the start than to feel something, and usually people who do feel things early on are those susceptible to OHSS.

@Gnatalie16 I asked the nurse yesterday about not really feeling anything and she said not to worry and that some people don’t get the side effects. Maybe when you add in the next medication that heaviness feeling will be there, but if it isn’t don’t stress!

Good luck today @wishfulbean! I’ve done all my checks now and just waiting to go in. Nurses are absolutely lovely so that’s helped me feel slightly less nervous.

Just sat waiting in a nearby coffee shop (and feeling very hungry and thirsty) as we arrived nice and early to the clinic. Feeling quite anxious... but mostly hungry 😂

@wishfulbean on my first cycle, I specifically asked my clinic to give me the first slot as I can't cope without breakfast, lol! I had a Gails pastry in my bag ready for when I came round. Hope you have a great breakfast afterwards x

@wishfulbean all done! Had a lovely chat with the doctors and everyone about air fryers 😂then I don’t remember anything! Was a lovely sleep. I got 3 eggs. Good luck with yours!

@HopefulllHolly Amazing! 🤗3 eggs is great! I am so glad it all went well for you! Did you get put to sleep for your collection or sedated? I will be getting sedated which i have never experienced before, so feeling a little nervous for that on Monday!!

@Gnatalie16 I had fentanyl and then sedation. Was bloody great! I was in the room, they put the cannula in, chatted to me about air fryers, put my legs in the stirrups and then I can’t remember anything whatsoever. Was totally fine! Actually wish I could do it on a nightly basis it was so pleasant. 🤣🤣🤣

Definitely don’t be nervous about the sedation, was the best bit!! I could have it every day. Was out like a light with no memory of the procedure at all, don’t even remember the speculum going in. Then woke up 30 mins later in the room feeling lovely. Bleeding quite a bit after but I’m planning a snooze this afternoon xx

I did my egg retrieval yesterday, ten mature eggs and five embryos today so feeling pleased but also who knows what will happen!

they said that there is no-one to update me on how they are doing until Monday, which is also my transfer day - is this normal?? Feels like a long time. It’s an nhs cycle so I guess that’s why.

Also does anyone know if a 50% fertilisation rate is good or could it indicate issues?

Hi @CreamLampshade congratulations on your 5 embryos, did you do icis or ivf?

We did 50/50 - so 5 with icsi and 5 with ivf, both of them had 3 embryos each but one wasn’t genetically normal so we now have 5.

I’ve just been reading and the average fertilisation rate is 80%, whereas ours is 60%. Terrified this means one of us has poor quality sperm / eggs!

I agree, sedation is really fun! Very relaxing. I had a different drug as I have a morphine allergy and fentanyl is in the same family of drugs (opioids) but was still good. Plus I got three packets of biscuits after!!
