IVF/ICSI April 2024

Hopefully find others in a similar boat 🙏

Just made my ‘Day One’ call to the clinic this week to set the ball rolling this will be my second cycle, first one failed on 12th Feb 2024.

Bit of background to how we got here, I have had 4 ectopics since Nov 2020 2 resulting in emergency surgery and losing both my tubes. No reason why our first cycle failed, we will be doing IVF/ICSI this time round.

Anyone joining me in the April emotional rollercoaster? X

Aw I think all the hormones ans the stress of it all is probably sending everyone's hormones everywhere!

For some reason I have also became very hungry !

2tuxedocats · 23/04/2024 15:27

Oh the hormones are no joke. I cried at a kitten video on Instagram last week 😂

My period has still not arrived and that’s made me quite hormonal and angry today. I just want to start!

HopefulllHolly · 23/04/2024 15:58

@Kp1210 arent we just!

Question - is everyone doing PGTA testing? We have said no for our first round as I know we won’t get many eggs to test anyway, but now I’m second guessing whether we should or not. I don’t want to throw any away that could have a chance even if small and I’ve heard that they sometimes get rid of mosaic ones which can correct themselves. But equally I don’t have time to waste going through transfers that won’t work. Really yo-yoing around on this today!

Becky105 · 23/04/2024 18:25

Kp1210 · 23/04/2024 13:38

@Becky105 does that mean you’re getting married?

It does indeed!!! 💍We're finally getting hitched, but the wedding is planned for July 2025 so I'm hoping to have birthed a child before then... No pressure. We discussed the logistics and at this stage we want to get going and keep going with ivf even if it means I'm a pregnant bride. I'll happily waddle down the aisle

Kp1210 · 23/04/2024 18:39

@Becky105 aw that’s lovely. What a busy year you have ahead of you!
waddle down the aisle 😂

Sierra26 · 23/04/2024 19:20

@lemonyfox @Kp1210 think all three of us are in for EC tomorrow then!

How are you feeling? Things are quite painful now and it’s very uncomfortable to move around as any motion seems to make my ovaries knock against other organs 😂😭 having to walk very slowly

Kp1210 · 23/04/2024 19:35

@Sierra26 didnt realise you were with us. Are you nervous or doing ok?
im super uncomfortable today. Came home from work and im sat on the sofa like a beached whale

Sierra26 · 23/04/2024 20:10

@Kp1210 it all happened very quickly, they brought my collection forward as I was ‘ready’ at my scan on Monday. Started stims the prior Mon.

Well done going in to work! I’m fortunate I could work from home. Would have struggled going anywhere today - I too am a beached whale! Worried I’m going to blow (ovulate) before the appt!!

Kp1210 · 23/04/2024 20:16

wow that is quick @Sierra26

gosh don’t say that. I’m worried about that too.
can’t wait until this time tomo when we are all home. We know that it worked and hopefully we have some good numbers of eggs

lemonyfox · 23/04/2024 20:26

@Sierra26 ah are you tomorrow too, how exciting!

I don't feel as uncomfortable today as I have done the previous two days, not sure if that's good or bad. I have however for the last 2 days been bloated and have awful heartburn which I've just read is an OHSS sign which I'm a bit worried about now.

Anyone know? Should I tell the hospital this tomorrow at EC? I don't want them to cancel the collection or Anthony if I've got signs of OHSS (or am I being dramatic?)

Lucylaughing · 23/04/2024 22:52

@lemonyfox I'd tell them to be on the safe side. I find it unlikely they'll cancel your collection. If you've already done your trigger then they can't stop OHSS now as it's the HCG that causes it. Just keep them in the loop, they will be on the ball with it. My "mild" (late onset) OHSS has been an absolute bitch, I have been really poorly over a week, so you should definitely let them know any symptoms. They may have to avoid a fresh transfer though - which is a bitch, but honestly, trust me you don't want late onset OHSS. If you have a viable pregnancy then symptoms can last up to 12 weeks.

Luck to all with ECs tomorrow x

HopefulllHolly · 24/04/2024 07:02

Good luck today @lemonyfox @Kp1210 @Sierra26 hope you all come away happy 😊

Hopingtobe4 · 24/04/2024 07:07

Good luck everyone going for egg collections today, everyone was lovely and the anaesthist makes sure you aren't in pain during the procedure - it's over and done with before you know it and you are in recovery with a bottle of water tea and toast.

Good luck @Lp96 on transfer, you have great embryos you've got this 💪

lemonyfox · 24/04/2024 07:23

Thanks everyone! 😊

@Lucylaughing ah I'm sorry, what was it like? I'm having a freeze all anyway so I always knew it, sad but just the way it is

HopefulllHolly · 24/04/2024 07:28

Good luck @Lp96 on your transfer!

Lp96 · 24/04/2024 07:35

Thanks everyone! Hope your ECs go well today! I was really nervous but I actually can’t even remember a thing when I think about it now!

I still feel bloated and abit sore I don’t know if this is normal?? Or if it’s cause of progesterone definitely easing up from Friday but still there! I don’t want anything to go wrong today!!

@Hopingtobe4 hope yours does too! I’ve woken up a mix of emotions today scared and nervous the time has finally come I just can’t believe it.

HopefulllHolly · 24/04/2024 07:38

Eeek sorry @Hopingtobe4 i can’t keep up with everyone’s appointments! There’s a lot today! Good luck today!

Hopingtobe4 · 24/04/2024 08:42

Thanks @Lp96 I woke up very excited,I actually can't believe it's the day.

We had a bit of a stressful morning with our toddlsr my partner has just taken him.to creche now and I'm getting ready to go for reflexology to try and destress before the transfer!

I'm a bit bloated and crampy too and had nowhere near the amount of eggs you had so I'm thinking it's the progesterone.

Aw don't worry @HopefulllHolly it's so hard to keep up with everyone !

Aw that’s sound very relaxing!! We are just having a lazy morning! What time is your transfer?
yeah I’m hoping it is… I just don’t want anything to go wrong when we get there and say no you can’t have transfer 🤣 i know I’m probs been silly!
Let me know how you get on!! GOOD LUCK!! 🍀🍀

2tuxedocats · 24/04/2024 10:09

Good luck everyone - there’s a lot of appointments!! Sending positive vibes ❤️

My period arrived last night so waiting back from the clinic to get the go ahead to start stims!

It was just what I needed to be honest. I actually said to.her I was worried about going and no embryo being there, she said they would ring and not to worry.

She also advised something warm and spicy for lunch/dinner (and the obligatory McDonald's chips)

lemonyfox · 24/04/2024 12:30

Hi everyone 😊 how did we all get on @Sierra26 @Kp1210?

We got 24 eggs collected which I'm so relieved with!

Sierra26 · 24/04/2024 12:56

Thanks everyone for your well wishes, we got 19 eggs :)

But had to switch to freeze all as my follicle count was over their threshold for OHSS risk. Is that happening with you @lemonyfox ? I’m a bit disappointed so might quiz them again later to see if it’s totally necessary

Kp1210 · 24/04/2024 12:57

I don’t want to be insensitive to people who got less eggs than they had hoped, so I’ll just say that we got high numbers and are very pleased 😌

24 eggs is fab!

@Sierra26 hope youre getting on ok

thinking of the people who had their transfers today too!

Kp1210 · 24/04/2024 13:00

@Sierra26 19 is great. Have you shown any signs of OHSS?
