FET February 2024

Hi, just thought I'd see if there was anyone else doing a FET cycle in February that is looking for a cycle buddy?

I'm due to start meds at the end of this month, hopefully with transfer mid Feb. This will be my first donor embryo cycle after final attempts with my own eggs failed last year.

@beachbum85 Yep, that's exactly it. I chose egg and sperm donors and they basically create embryos specifically for me. Had my day 5 update and they have frozen 4 good quality embryos. A little disappointing from 14 eggs and 8 still going on day 3, but hopefully one of them will do the trick. I guess with such young donors I was hoping for a better number, (my first own egg round I had 6 embryos from 9 eggs) but just have to hope the quality is better than my old eggs.

Good luck for the wait to scan, I found that so much harder than the initial 2ww! I hope you can distract yourself.

@kirstysmbc Ah that's where i got double embryo transfer from, my bad. The double donor I thought that was one donor donated 2 embryos for transfer. That's an amazing day 5 update!! I know it's hard not to get too optimistic, but I guess it doesn't always fit the logic - I had 18 embryos from 40 eggs, but only 5 were of a quality they could freeze, so I guess sometimes it's not always logical. I think 4 is a great number though and definitely sounds like baby #2 will be amongst them.

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 24/04/2024 08:48

@kirstysmbc glad you've managed to find a new way forward, hope those four embryos result in a beautiful little baby for you in the near future.

Well done on reaching 13 weeks @Staryskylark , sorry its been a less than smooth journey but I hope things settle for you now and you manage to enjoy your pregnancy.

@beachbum85 yay for your BFP!! Fantastic news. I hope you're feeling well, hope the scan comes round quickly for you and all goes well after too.

Hope everyone else is doing okay.

Quick q - does anyone know how long the STI results stay valid for? We had ours done on the NHS just over 6 months ago, I asked the new clinic to confirm if they're still in date but they've just said they will discuss at our next appointment- have found it very frustrating that transferring from NHS to private basically feels like starting all over again. I've already paid £600 to be told I have PCOS and they'd recommend IVF - I'm like, yes I knew that and that's why I came to you!

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday How frustrating for you! You'd have thought they would have been more accomodating as you're now paying, not being guarded with information!

So I remember them telling me when we started IVF last year that they're valid for a year. I know that if this next transfer doesn't work and we have to pay for a fresh round in June / July, we're likely expired, so that's why I remember! Hope that helps x

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 24/04/2024 19:52

Thanks @GCS34 that's helpful, next appointment is tomorrow so should get an answer from the clinic tomorrow, but yeah I just find it more comforting to be able to process possible timescales in my head without another uncertainty to add to the mix!

How are you getting on?

kirstysmbc · 25/04/2024 09:05

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday both my clinic in the UK and in Portugal want std tests to have been within the last year. Hopefully you'll get the answer from your clinic today.

I've now had confirmation that I have 3 grade A and 1 grade C embryos, so all looking very positive for the upcoming cycle. Now just have to wait for my very unpredictable period to arrive...

When is your transfer likely to be @GCS34?

OP posts:
beachbum85 · 25/04/2024 09:18

@kirstysmbc well done on getting 4 frosties... and 3 grade A! I can understand the disappointment with the drop-off, but I guess both egg and sperm donors are young and screened so, as you say, the quality should be high - I'm sure your sibling embryo is in there ❤
Here's hoping your cycle starts soon so you can get transferring!

Sending positive thoughts as you wait for your scan date @GCS34

Thank you so much @IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday
How very fraustrating to have extra costs and potential delays... I hope your appointment goes well today. I seem to remember that we had our virology tests in August and then had to repeat them in February, so I think it's 6 months at our clinic, but hopefully longer at yours 🤞🏼

Testing every couple of days and the line is visibly darker today, so hoping all is going as it should in there! I have another team meeting in the States next week so deifnitely going to be distracted as I wait for the scan...

Hope everyone else is well xxx

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 25/04/2024 15:05

That sounds really good, a distraction will be nice for you before the scan @beachbum85

@kirstysmbc four embryos, and 3 grade A, wow that's great! I so hope your period arrives soon and we hear good news from you in the not too distant future

There's actually an FET May thread which you probably meant to join. This one is from a few months ago. I'm also on that one, so will see you there!

@kirstysmbc when do you have your transfer scheduled in for? I had a scan today and they've booked me in for transfer on Tuesday! lining a little thinner than previous months, however the quality is really good and they're not starting the progesterone until Friday so gives it a few more days to thicken a little (it's at 6.5mm which is the amount they want for a FET however, I just wanted to carry on a day or two more just to push it further as I have done better before and been 7mm+), so they are scanning me Friday and then starting progesterone on Friday all being well, for transfer Tues. Hopefully be TWW buddies with you / some others here?

@beachbum85 how are you getting on? x

kirstysmbc · 08/05/2024 07:55

@GCS34 Hey, sorry I missed your message. How are you doing? Did your transfer go ahead? I'm hoping transfer will be in a couple of weeks, assuming my lining plays ball, so a little not behind you. Got everything crossed that this is your rainbow.

@beachbum85 How are you doing? Have you had your scan yet?

OP posts:
beachbum85 · 08/05/2024 10:18

Ohhhh @GCS34 I'm so sorry I totally missed your previous update as well, as I was away for work! I really hope everything has gone smoothly for you and you got to transfer yd 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@kirstysmbc how are you feeling about your upcoming transfer?

All good here thanks - nothing much to report except the nausea started over the weekend and is quite persistent. I haven't actually felt sick but it's a constant blehhh feeling. I'm really glad it started after my team meeting last week though! It was hard enough finding excuses not to drink, I'm not sure I would have managed to mask the nausea too 😅 Viability scan is tomorrow so keeping everything tightly crossed (and trying to keep the anxious thoughts at bay) until then...

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 14/05/2024 21:41

@GCS34 hope all went well with transfer and you're finding the 2WW bearable!

@beachbum85 really hope viability scan went well and your nausea isn't too awful

@kirstysmbc hope your lining is thickening nicely and transfer is all scheduled for you

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday thanks girl. 3dp5dt and already losing my mind 😂 I forgot how utterly sh*t it is. How are you getting on?

@kirstysmbc not long until transfer time! Have you had a lining scan yet? Hoping everything is going to plan. Are you doing this through a UK clinic or abroad again?

@beachbum85 so happy for you and all your exciting baby vibes. Best til last vibes this way lady - these 2 last men standing better prove the theory right.

@seekingbabyk how are you getting on? Any idea on the planned stim start? Hope you’re doing good and you’re full of allll the good supplements 🥰😘

kirstysmbc · 14/05/2024 21:57

Thanks for checking in @IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday How are you getting on?

I've got my lining scan tomorrow, so really hoping that it is all going well. Last cycle it was 10/11mm so with no change in meds, hopefully it will be thick enough. Then transfer will hopefully be next Wednesday. I'll be back in Portugal again, so mad rush for flights - which are looking crazy expensive 😞

@GCS34 Glad transfer went ok, are you going to wait until OTD to test? When is that? Got everything crossed we can be pregnancy and baby buddies too 🤞🤞

@beachbum85 How was the scan? I hope everything is going a bit more smoothly now.

@kirstysmbc oh how exciting!! Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Do you have that at an affiliate clinic over here then? Oh bless you. Will you do there and back in a weekend or using it as a bit of a holiday too?

OTD is a week Friday (24th) which is 13dpt. But Mr.GCS is away with work so we’re going to do it Wednesday - your transfer day - which is 11dpt. I’ll get an accurate result then right? And absolutely hope we are so much!! Started together, so we’ll end together 🥰😘

beachbum85 · 15/05/2024 10:01

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday thanks for checking in! How are things going with you? Were your bloods still valid, and have you been given the go ahead to proceed?

@kirstysmbc good luck with your lining scan today! Let us know how it goes! I can just imagine the prices of those flights for next week... I hope you find a decent option! Will your mum come with you and your daughter again?

@GCS34 best till last vibes right back at you! so you did go ahead with a double transfer in the end?! doubly exciting!! Sounds like a good plan to wait till 11dpt and test together - I'll be thinking of you in the run up (the wait is just so awful! but stay strong!) but especially on Wed!

Thank you all so much for checking in! The viability scan went well, we saw the little heartbeat and everything was measuring perfectly at exactly 7w 😍Such a relief! I really got quite emotional leaving the clinic, knowing that we have no frosties left there and, regardless of how this turns out, we're unlikely to go back there.
I have really been struggling with the nausea though, and I'm going to have to tell my boss at our next 1:1 (wasn't planning to just yet) because it's affecting my ability to work at times.

muddlingthrou · 15/05/2024 15:16

Congratulations @beachbum85! And to @kirstysmbc and @GCS34 - wishing you both lots of luck.

I am 15 weeks now and finally leaving the horrible nausea behind... I have started having pounding headaches though, so it's still not fun and games, but I am grateful to have got to this point.

kirstysmbc · 15/05/2024 16:05

Thanks @beachbum85 my lining was only 7.8mm so not sure if my clinic will want me to try and get a thicker lining before I proceed.

So glad your scan went well and hopefully the nausea will subside a bit soon. Hopefully it won't take until 15 weeks like @muddlingthrou !!

@kirstysmbc Oh god don't say only 7.8mm, that's a dream for me 😂Does your clinic have a minimum then? Mine doesn't have a minimum providing the quality is top / triple layered. Would you proceed as you are if they're happy? I've read loads on it being quality over quantity with both eggs and linings, hopefully they'll proceed and you can do the transfer Weds! When will you find out?

kirstysmbc · 15/05/2024 18:01

@GCS34 I don't know what my clinic has as a minimum but I think my U.K. clinic was 8mm. My last cycle was nearly 11 on the same protocol so just seems quite low to me. They've not responded to my email yet...

Congratulations @beachbum85 hope your nausea stops soon for you.. and congratulations @muddlingthrou.

Fingers crossed for your OTD @GCS34 .. sending lots of positive thoughts your way..

Hope your lining scan goes well @kirstysmbc thinking of you..

We are now 16 weeks + 3 and after all the ups and downs I heard their little heartbeat at my midwife appointment today..

kirstysmbc · 16/05/2024 17:44

All good to go for transfer next Wednesday so obviously no issue with lining. Now to sort out flights and somewhere to stay...!

How are you getting on @GCS34 ?

@kirstysmbc hurrah!! Great news you're going ahead on Weds! Have you figured your travel plans yet? Are you going to do a few days there or stay longer? Hopefully this is the last time you need to fly out 🤗

Yeah all good, trying not to symptom spot.... PAH who am I kidding, I've googled some fucked up shit this week, I won't lie 😂But aside from that, I'm finding this TWW 1000000000 times worse than others. Not sure why. Maybe because it's a DET? Who knows! I've had some cramping on 4dpt, but nothing since, so goodness only knows. Only 5 days to go.... 😫How are you feeling for Weds?

@Staryskylark congratulations!! So exciting. How are you feeling on the whole? Remind me - it's twins right!?

kirstysmbc · 17/05/2024 15:54

@GCS34 Got all the travel sorted, for some reason the flights this time round are super expensive, so I'm about £450 down for flights, hotel and transfers. But yes, fingers crossed I won't need to go back. I'm literally doing an overnight stay and flying back after transfer. My mum is having my daughter for me.

The tww is a nightmare every time! I don't think I had any symptoms at all with my daughter and was convinced it hadn't worked. And my most symptoms were on my only bfn, so think it's all complete chance! Well done for holding out to test though - I'll be starting on Sunday / Monday!!
