FET February 2024

kirstysmbc · 23/01/2024 22:20

Hi, just thought I'd see if there was anyone else doing a FET cycle in February that is looking for a cycle buddy?

I'm due to start meds at the end of this month, hopefully with transfer mid Feb. This will be my first donor embryo cycle after final attempts with my own eggs failed last year.

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday i feel immensely grateful and reassured by the numbers. I think i just have a hard time and am easily affected with the sort of casual and brief bedside manner of the nurses when they phone- i know they're such amazing, under appreciated people, but sometimes the way news is dealt out, or what information is chosen to be given i find very confusing in this super personal and emotional process. The one nurse who called when it was 96 was over the moon, and i feared the number was on the low side, and the other nurse who called with the 353 update was nonplussed so then my inner reaction was a bit like - oh is that low? haha i just am so anxious and sensitive to everything these days. ..oh, and starting to feel mildly nauseated with strong smells.

seekingbabyk · 04/03/2024 19:54

Oh @GCS34 that's so frustrating! But ultimately I guess it could be no problem at all and be gone next time so let's keep everything crossed. If the clinic thought it would be an issue they would already have cancelled. Hope you're ok and staying off of google!

@beachbum85 have an amazing trip - very jealous over here!

@kaydevo7777 that's amazing news on your numbers. My clinic doesn't freely give out numbers either for some reason they're always a bit quiet about it, probably to stop us googling it all! Have they booked you a scan in now?

biscuitsndtea · 04/03/2024 20:28

I tested today since my beta was booked this afternoon.I got a positive(not very dark) today at 11dpt.

I had my beta testing at my clinic the levels came back at 157 which seems to be low. They booked in again to see if it's doubling.

Not sure if I should feel happy or if I should stay cautious. Is this level ok or low ? Just wanted to prepare myself mentally 😥

biscuitsndtea · 04/03/2024 20:28

Sorry I am 12dpt today

kaydevo7777 · 04/03/2024 21:12

@seekingbabyk yes i'm feeling more reassured to have the two tests done, and the scan isn't until march 19th. hopefully i can find a way to not fall too behind in work and keep calm until then. <3
@biscuitsndtea my first beta on 9dp5d7 was 96 and my 11dp5dt was 353. from all the obsessive googling i did after getting the first result: do. not. worry. I saw many accounts of women with lower numbers all who went on to healthy pregnancies and live births. (and the opposite) It's all about how it progresses. sending you calming thoughts

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 04/03/2024 23:33

@kaydevo7777 I can definitely relate to finding it hard to deal with the manner information is given. My message back from the nurse when I said I'd had a negative pregnancy test started off saying they were sorry to hear that, but then moved on to say I'd now finished my NHS funded treatment and they wished me all the best for the future. It felt so uncaring! I guess everyone who deals with sensitive stuff for a job can't get too personally invested in outcomes, but on the receiving end its very hard to feel like the most significant and personal events of your life are so insignicant to other people

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 04/03/2024 23:35

@biscuitsndtea congratulations on the BPF! Although I'm really sorry you're also anxious about your numbers, I hope the next test shows a good increase for you and hopefully little embryo is firmly in place for the next 9 months!

@seekingbabyk Thank you darling - yes I hope so too. I don't know what it was, it came on fast so from what I've researched, Fibroids don't just crop up out of nowhere, they generally build and are only noticed on a infrequent scan, not in the case of 2 weeks! So I am more leaning towards it being either a cyst, a bit of fluid, or I don't know. I guess we'll find out next week like you say though, if they thought it was a major issue they wouldn't have had me start the drugs. And I can't say I'm off google however I have said I won't use it now as it's certainly not helping the anxiety.

How are you getting on? Are you enjoying the headspace away from the mental load of it all?

@kaydevo7777 that sounds amazingly reassuring! Roll on the 19th for your scan. And I agree - no one prepares you for the three week wait after the TWW do they? That was the hardest part for me!

@biscuitsndtea congratulations!! That's great news and my clinic told me that the number itself doesn't matter, it is how it is doubling that does. And the 'initial' number can range from 5 - 2,000 so it's so variable. I Think one thing I am trying really hard after my major wobble the past few days is to try not to compare as I think it can literally drive us insane. When are your next bloods? x

seekingbabyk · 06/03/2024 10:28

@biscuitsndtea congratulations! Amazing news ❤️

@GCS34 I'm feeling the best I have felt in ages away from hormones and pills tbh. Just restarted supplements today and really making a conscious effort with my diet so hopefully by the time our next round comes around we'll be in a good position. No idea when that will be as need to save some cash for it but hopefully around may/June time. I had a big cyst when I had my ectopic which I knew nothing about but it just went away. Fingers crossed it'll be gone at your next scan!

biscuitsndtea · 06/03/2024 17:39

Thanks everyone for your wishes ❤

Sadly the HCG dropped from the earlier levels. So they have asked to stopped the medications.

Wondering what could be the reason for ir

I’m so very sorry @biscuitsndtea sending love. Hope you’re okay. X

kirstysmbc · 06/03/2024 21:33

@biscuitsndtea I'm so sorry that this cycle didn't work out for you. I think it is much harder to get a bfp and then for it not to work out, so sending much love and strength your way x

Oh I'm so sorry @biscuitsndtea I can't imagine getting a positive and then this. Take care of yourself and sending you big hugs xx

kaydevo7777 · 08/03/2024 00:44

@biscuitsndtea i'm so sorry to read this. I hope you're doing ok and taking care of yourself - I'm sure you've been on an emotional rollercoaster. Did you get more information from your clinic?

muddlingthrou · 08/03/2024 06:51

I'm so sorry @biscuitsndtea, that is heartbreaking 💔 sending you lots of love xx

kaydevo7777 · 09/03/2024 19:52

how's everybody doing? i know we're all sprawling out to different stages in our journey, but I just thought i'd check in to see how you all are. <3

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 11/03/2024 22:22

Hi @kaydevo7777 , I'm busy trying to avoid all UPF (wow its been an education! I thought we ate reasonably well to be honest, I had no idea just how many nasties are in so many foods!) We have an open day at the clinic we're hoping to go to for the next round (previous one was NHS) at the weekend so that will feel like a good step forward I think.

How are you? Your scan is next week, right? Hope the anxiety has settled a little for you

kaydevo7777 · 12/03/2024 17:27

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday i haven't dove too much into that myself! do you have a good resource of lesser evident UPF foods? NHS means it was government funded? So is this next one done differently? If I understand correctly you can start your first steps for the next round this coming weekend? If so - that's super exciting - sending you good vibes

I'm doing ok, feeling super tired these days and quite unfocused - which is bad as i'm self employed haha. Yes, my scan is next week ( a week from today) - I'm unavoidably super anxious to have the scan, but trying to just accept those feelings. It's ok to be relaxed, it's ok to be anxious, it's all super normal. As it's my first time having a bfp, all the feelings in my body are just so new to me and I don't know what is what - so weird sharp, but dull, twinges in my lower right abdomen send my head spinning.

seekingbabyk · 13/03/2024 15:01

@kaydevo7777 that's exciting to have your scan next week! I'm sure those feelings are really normal and the anxiety too!

I'm ok just had a follow up with our consultant and he was kind of saying "I'm not going to tell you to stop just yet" which has really hurt - I didn't even realise this was an option I just assumed as long as we were paying they'd be happy to treat us! We are going for another round in 3 months time or so as we thought.

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday that also means lifestyle changes for us so am really interested in hearing what they are suggesting for you. We generally eat quite well but my understanding is a whole food, low carb Mediterranean diet is best - is that right?

seekingbabyk · 13/03/2024 15:01

@GCS34 - how are you my lovely? When is your next lining scan?

GCS34 · 13/03/2024 15:20

seekingbabyk · 13/03/2024 15:01

@GCS34 - how are you my lovely? When is your next lining scan?

@seekingbabyk Hey you. I've just realised I didn't reply to your last message! I'm so thrilled you're feeling the best you've felt in a long time. Just shows you what our bodies are going through and what we're putting in it when you take away the meds doesn't it? Are you still feeling good? Is your meeting next week?, or have I made that up? 😅

I have a scan tomorrow, weirdly (are you stalking me?!) but I did have one on Friday as I was getting some bad cramping and it worried me, so they scanned me and the cyst was there, but it wasn't anywhere near the cavity, and was just in outer wall bit near my cervix end. It was a triple layer and 5mm at day 8, so fingers crossed we still have good quality and it's thickened a bit tomorrow. She said it was the best quality she'd seen since my first transfer 3 cycles ago, so I'm hoping that's a lucky omen xx

seekingbabyk · 13/03/2024 17:35

Awww that's amazing @GCS34 I'm glad it looks positive for you now! No complete coincidence I asked that today! Very strange!

I had my follow up today. He upset me a bit yesterday actually suggesting it might be worth looking at other options like embryo donation but we are going to do one more round. I just assumed as long as we were paying they would let us do more but maybe not. BUT I said to my OH that if we decided to keep going after this next one there are lots of other clinics it's just starting over with everything. So now need to just put down the mini eggs and crack on with this new whole foods, low carb Mediterranean diet 🙈

kaydevo7777 · 14/03/2024 22:49

@seekingbabyk I'm sorry to hear about the abrupt discussion with the consultant... that would have ruffled me as well. Happy to hear you're going for another round in 3 months. <3

@kaydevo7777
Re UPF - I've just been reading the ingredients list on everything we buy! And mostly just cooking things from scratch to avoid all the preservatives etc.

Yes NHS is govt funded, in the area I live we only got one cycle of IVF so now we will have to pay ourselves. Is/was any of your treatment government funded? Or does insurance cover it? We do actually have private medical insurance from my husband's employer but fertility isn't covered sadly.

I'm sorry you're feeling so anxious, but I think you're right to remind yourself that all feelings are okay. Thinking of you and hoping you have great news to share next week and that you feel a little lighter afterwards. Tiredness and twinges must be hard, I found it frustrating in the TWW that all the niggly little symptoms mean you can't just put it out of your mind for a while, it's very hard.
