Had my second round of iui this lunch time however this time I’ve been put on progesterone pesseries But like an idiot I forgot to ask the nurse when I’m suppose to insert my first pessary and my clinic is now closed until Monday!! Would I insert the first one tonight or start them tomrorow night? I’ve tried googling but its no help and I’m pure panicking now I’m gonna fuck it up

Yeah I’m like that I’ll deal with it but rather not 😂. I think because you anticipate symptoms everything’s heightened too so even if it’s like a bit of trapped wind Or something automatically you’re like 👀 it’s my ovary 😂 just keep in mind that it’s still early days so either way they can adjust your dose to either speed up or slow down growth and if doesn’t necessarily matter as much how many there are in there like it does with iui. I remember on one of my iui cycles mine were growing quite a lot they tweaked the dose lower so the ones I did have grew but no more new ones got mature so it wasn’t a cancelled cycle. It’s horrible though every stage is just a waiting game you have to have the patience of a saint don’t you 😩.
So 6 of them successfully fertilised the rest didn’t catch now they’ll start growing over the weekend and hopefully make it to blastocyst on Monday where they’ll be graded on quality. Only 30-50% will make it xx

Yeah so true. I'll have the odd twinge and I'm like ooh is that my ovaries working over time or just wind 😂

Very true. I'm so paranoid at ovulating really early or something. Think I'm due to start injections to prevent ovulation on Sunday but I'll double check with them at my scan tomorrow morning.

Ooh that's great that 6 have fertilised, fingers crossed you get some nice blasts from that! How is your partner feeling about it all? Is he chill or also nervous at the wait? I feel like my wife is more chill than me but obviously really invested in it all xx

Mrsrmcc · 26/07/2024 19:47

yeah I bet you’ll start after you’ve been scanned, I was. I’m excited to see how you’re getting on 🤣.
Well I thought he was very chill but he’s come home this evening stressing his tits off thinking they aren’t gonna make it!! Said things aren’t looking very postive with only 6. Now he’s got me stressing about it I can’t get it out my mind. Every time my phone rings I’m on tender hooks waiting for them to say unfortunately non of them made it! Usually I’m living for the weekend but I just wanna sleep it all away and see how they are Monday 😩
do you think your wife would want to try a round of her own after yours? A couple I know are going for shared motherhood which I think is a gorgeous idea, one grows the eggs the other carry’s and grows the baby 🥺 xx

Yeah you had quite a lot of follicles by your first scan didn't you! Although you were on a much higher dose than me. I'm so intrigued to see how I'll respond as my AMH and AFC is pretty high.

Aww bless him. Well if you think about it, people with much lower ovarian reserve and older go through IVF and manage to get pregnant. They may only have had a few eggs collected and managed to have a blastocyst from that. I'm routing for you!

I meant to ask, did you know it was always going to be ICSI that you had? Our clinic said it depends on how our donor sample thaws as to whether it'll be IVF or ICSI but of course we'll be happy with either. They said that the risk of egg damage from ICSI is actually quite low. There is just nearly always quite a natural drop off at how many eggs actually fertilise.

My wife isn't particularly keen on carrying unlike me. Like, she would if needed to (e.g. if it turns out I have an issue where I can't carry) but she doesn't feel that desire to be pregnant - if anything she'd rather not 😂 Unfortunately our NHS funding doesn't cover reciprocal IVF so we've not gone down that route currently. Also my wife has more medical issues on her side of the family so she's not too bothered about the genetic link. She's very happy with being their legal parent still, just not fussed about genetics. I'm not toooo fussed about genetics but would really like to carry if I can xx

Mrsrmcc · 26/07/2024 21:30

Yeah 24 by day 6 but I think my cycle has been short considering I only started stimming 11 days before retrieval. I still have loads of drugs left!! I only had 2 scans too which is wild I was scanned everyday with iui but I suppose you’re under a more controlled environment.
ah it’s just so up in the air isn’t it 😩 I hate it.
yeah so when we had our original consultation he suggested we had that due to motility on one of my husbands analysis but it would all depend on the sample on the day. His motility was actually decent but something else was low I can’t remember what she said because I was away with the fairies 😂 but she said they’d do ICSI. But it was included in our funding so assume it will be yours too.
fair enough I’ve never even considered genetics like you I’m just desperate to carry 😅. Do you think you’ll self fund another ivf round if this one doesn’t go to plan? I know you’ve already put so much money in to it already, for us it’s a no brainer but everything’s been funded up to this point Xx

Scan this morning went well. Weirdly I also have 24 follicles growing, but on the smaller side currently (between 4 and 11mm) thankfully so not going to suddenly ovulate like I was worrying. Can you remember how big your follicles were on your day 6 scan? Also my lining is already 6.5mm which is good, thankfully I've never had an issue with my lining but good to know it's thickening.

I'm so relieved I barely slept last night worrying about if I was going to ovulate early or something 😅

Yeah we'd definitely keep going for as much as we could/needed. We are lucky that financially we could afford it but it's so expensive I'd rather use that money on bringing up any children we have. Are you in a similar position where you'd be able to fund more? Xx

strawberrylaces12 · 27/07/2024 12:58

Heard back from the clinic and I'm staying on the same dose, starting the injection to prevent ovulation tomorrow, and got my next scan on Tuesday 😊 feel quite relieved now I know the plan xx

Mrsrmcc · 27/07/2024 13:55

Ah amazing!! I think I had only 3 that were leading at that point which were 18 and above the rest were small at 11 then over the weekend they seemed to have a massive growth spurt and 24 made it up to size. You’re at risk of ohss though aren’t you so probably best that they’re taking it slow and steady, as soon as you’re on that downer you can carry on stimming for a while longer. Think my lining was 8 on my first scan but I feel like everything went super quick from my first scan to egg retrieval which I’m not complaining about 😂 I felt like shit on those last few days. How you feeling?

yeah same we’re in quite a good position too but likewise I’d rather not have to keep throwing money at it I’d rather it just work 😩 or work this first time and have the cash to have a second or third child in a few years.
deffo a relief you can relax a bit now and know everything is going to plan 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 xxx

Ahh good to know. I guess also you were on like the 300 dose weren't you and I'm on 112.5. Yeah I'd rather it take a bit longer if I'm then less likely to develop OHSS as yes with my higher amh and afc I'm at a higher risk. I'm okay thanks, maybe a tad bloated but nothing too bad. I'm just trying to take it easy and relax as much as I can.

Yeah and for me it's not just the money but waiting even longer and the unknown. If I could pay like 5k and know that I'd get pregnant on the first transfer honestly I think I would 😅

How are you feeling about the wait to hear the outcome? Doing anything to keep distracted that's helping? Xx

Mrsrmcc · 29/07/2024 05:22

Yeah, what drug have you got for trigger? I had ovitrelle but I read if you’re at risk of ohss they put you on a different one as ovitrelle can trigger it or make it worse. I dunno if I have a bit of mild ohss you know, since my retrieval I’ve been a bit bloated and a bit sore like where my ovaries are? Kinda like over my whole pubic hair area. My husband said I’m being paranoid because it’s not crippling pain and it’s probably from the retrieval/progesteone but they drill it so much into you to watch out for it that you can’t help it!! We find out today how many made it to blastocyst so I think I’ll mention it.

honestly it’s been one of the worst weekends of my life 🤦🏻‍♀️ all I keep imagining is them ringing today and saying non made it I’ll be absolutely gutted, all that hard work for nothing 😩. We’re renovating so been busy with buying sofas etc this weekend and I did treat myself to a new Hoover so that was a distraction for a while 😂 but it’s so hard to escape it. It’s constantly on your mind. I wish they’d give a day 3 update just to say like nothings changed or this has happened whatever xxx

Yeah I've got Ovitrelle so I might ask them if I need a different one. It's so tricky because I found sometimes taking the progesterone pessaries gave me cramps and made me feel bloated. But worth mentioning it, I'd imagine they might scan first before a transfer but I'm not sure!

Keeping everything crossed for you, let me know when you hear🤞🙏 this whole process is just awful isn't it. Yesterday I started with ewcm and panicked that I was going to ovulate early. Did a clearblue ovulation test and everything which thankfully was negative. Then read that it's really normal with ivf due to increased oestrogen levels from lots of follicles growing, did you have ewcm during stimming? Also did my first Ovamex injection last night to prevent early ovulation. It did sting as I was warned but not too bad but it bled slightly and then my leg went all red and raised skin but it went down after about an hour or so. Wife and I initially panicked a bit 😅 xx

Ooh sorry clearly had opened this thread and then didn't send my message for a bit so I didn't see this. But yayyy!! How are you feeling? Xx

strawberrylaces12 · 29/07/2024 10:21

Also looks like we're both with tfp Nurture, imagine if it was the same one after all of this 😂😂

Mrsrmcc · 29/07/2024 11:28

Yeah progesterone always bloats me up especially being on it twice a day! I’ve gone up my bum this time around instead of my vag because I’m up so early I haven’t got time to lay down for half an hour in the morning but you know what I think I’d do it up there again!! No mess at all!
yeah I did, a lot more than around ovulation too in fact I took a picture to send to my mum (gross) because I couldn’t believe the stuff that was coming out it was in a massive clump at one point I was mortified.
😂 I’d shit myself too but glad it went ok. that is where I started to get sore and uncomfortable after probs 2 days of ovamex. How did you find the actual injection?
im praying to god they make it overnight 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 but I’m so pleased all 6 made it this far just need a little push now eggies!!
no way!! In Nottingham?! Xx

Yeah they advised me that is the better route too when we had the nurse appointment so I may have to try that instead.

Oh thank god that's reassuring 😂 I've already had more than I would in a normal cycle.

The actual injection was better than I had imagined, stung a bit but was fine. It was just the skin reaction to it I was a bit worried about but was all fine.

Really hoping they do because imagine have 1 transfered and then another 4 in the freezer that would be amazing. Especially since they seem to be good quality!

Omg no way. What a small world!! I know there are a lot of tfp clinics and a few Nurture ones but that's mad. Also mad that we'll both be there tomorrow morning although mines an earlier morning appointment. I can't believe that 😂 especially since we've been talking on here for so many months. If you were happy to, you're more than welcome to PM me your phone number. I realise now we probably could have been PMing but equally maybe this thread is helpful for some people to read since we've both been through quite a lot already haven't we!! Xx

Mrsrmcc · 29/07/2024 15:48

Yeah deffo the better way 🤣.
I know that’s what I’m prayyyyying for 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 but who knows what will happen over night it’s been the worst honestly 😂 I’d rather do all the injecting and retrieval again than have to wait like this it’s killing me. Then you think it’s all over you’ve got 2 week wait, then first scan then 12 weeks you’re out the woods it’s gonna be rough 🤦🏻‍♀️😂.
its bonkers what are the odds of that!! Especially because our cycles have been quite in sync it’s wild. We’ve probably walked past eachother in clinic non the wiser! Hopefully one day we’ll be trading pics of our babies safe and soundly delivered 🥺 2 weeks apart 🤣🤣. Yes deffo I’ll pm you now. And true I think it’s helpful especially when your mind runs away with you it’s helpful to read someone else’s worries and concerns and ramblings 😂 xx
