Mrsrmcc · 19/01/2024 16:59

Had my second round of iui this lunch time however this time I’ve been put on progesterone pesseries But like an idiot I forgot to ask the nurse when I’m suppose to insert my first pessary and my clinic is now closed until Monday!! Would I insert the first one tonight or start them tomrorow night? I’ve tried googling but its no help and I’m pure panicking now I’m gonna fuck it up

Yes deffo now I know everything is in place down there, I’m getting a bit of dull ache now like my period is about to start but I started downers Friday so it’s probably that. Tired and emotional but ok 👌

omg that is typical especially because it’s normally quite regular how annoying 😂 do you feel like it’s gonna start?
glad the wedding went well bet it was a nice distraction too away from all the fertility crap! Xx

I hope you're able to rest and relax plenty? Can you milk it and get looked after lots? 😂

So I've finally started spotting this evening which means my period should properly start tomorrow all being well so tomorrow should be day 1 so I think I'll start injections on Tuesday. Yeah assuming my period starts tomorrow then it'll be a day 30 cycle which is on the longer side for me, but all fine still. Just want to get started! Xx

strawberrylaces12 · 22/07/2024 06:40

Period started properly last night but not until like 10pm and they said it has to be full flow before 5pm to count as day 1, so I'm on day 1 today. Just submitted my form to let the clinic know so they should be in touch in the next day or two to book my first scan. Day 7 falls on Sunday I think so I wonder if they're open on Sunday or if it'll be on Friday or Monday. Injections start tomorrow woo, just glad to be moving forward xx

Mrsrmcc · 22/07/2024 11:43

Oh I will be milking it don’t you worry 😂 hey finally!!! Yeah I bet you can’t wait I was like that too. So on my protocol I had to be scanned day 6, so did 6 days of injections and then had a scan and started my Downers, I’ve just had my second scan today which would be day 10 of my cycle and they’re doing egg collection either Wednesday or Thursday just waiting for the doc to call and confirm so I really think it depends on your body but most clinics are open Saturdays but not Sundays. She said I have 16 possibly viable follicles to retrieve but they won’t know until they’re doing the procedure to be sure xx

They phoned me and my first scan will be on Saturday (because it should fall on Sunday but they don't scan on Sundays) so that's great and exciting that it is booked in! Oh wow it seems to be moving forward well then? I bet the decent dose is helping but also seems to be not overstimulating you which is good?

Did they say you're sort of where they'd expect you to be in terms of number of follicles and how they are developing? Xx

Mrsrmcc · 22/07/2024 16:10

Oh brill do your first injection is tomrorow then? Yeah she said everything is going exactly as it should linings nice and thick and follicles are growing well. She’s just rang to say doctor has asked for 1 more day of stims for a final push and to trigger tomorrow, theatre will be Thursday. Exciting but nerve wrecking at the same time 🤣. Feel sorry for my husband he’s a real worrier especially after the ectopic so he needs to get himself together while I’m in theatre because we need a good load of sperm 😂 but it must be awful knowing that everyone knows your in that room basically having a wank 😩😩😩😩 it’s a lot of pressure lol xx

Yeah I'll start tomorrow evening, eek!

Oh wow that's brilliant, so pleased it all seems to be going well so far. Haha definitely must be weird but I'd rather go through the male side of it than female! Thankfully we have the sperm ready on site frozen but I guess there is always a chance it may not thaw well or something.

Did they give you any advice on preparing for the egg retrieval? Like any dos/don'ts? Xx

Mrsrmcc · 23/07/2024 05:29

Ah good luck with it 🙏🏼 you’ve been through this rodeo many times now you’ve got this 🤣.
oh god yeah I’d rather be the man any day in all this! Has the sperm always been frozen with iui too? You’ve never had problems with it before have you?
not yet the nurse is gonna call me today with theatre instructions and tell me what time to trigger. I’m ready now for sure the pressure in my ovaries is getting a bit uncomfortable. It’s weird it’s like my hips and back too which are sore especially by the end of the day when I’ve been on my feet all day, I’m shitting it but I’m ready for it 😂 xxx

Thank you! I'm just hoping that I use the pen correctly and stuff as it's different to the gonal f one but I'm sure between me and my wife we can work it out. We have a video to refresh our memory if needed too!

Yeah it's always been frozen before with the IUI. I'm just hoping that the transport of it between clinics didn't cause any issues. Hopefully it'll all be okay. I think I'm just nervous so over thinking everything 😅

Ooh exciting! Sounds weird but can you like feel anything protruding in your pelvis area? Or is it mainly lots of bloating. Sometimes when I'm lying down in bed I feel like I can feel my fibroid slightly (as it's like above my uterus rather than in it, thankfully doesn't need removing) and the consultant said it's possible that I could feel it as I'm quite slim. Weird how our body works isn't it! Xx

Mrsrmcc · 23/07/2024 20:17

How did it go?! The pens super easy to use just make sure you prime it every time. It’s the downers in the syringe that did me 🤢 I had to get my father in law to do it 🤣. Yes manifest it will be fine 🙏🏼 there’s never been a problem before so why now.

no I wouldn’t say I can feel anything protruding but like you I’m slim so where I’m bloating I can really see it swollen over my reproductive area if that makes sense 😂 but yeah that is bonkers that you can feel it!! I wonder if you’ll be able to feel your swollen ovaries.
im triggering at 9pm tonight getting very real now I’m starting to shit it a bit about retrieval 😂😩 xxx

Not long done the first injection and it was all fine. I really don't mind needles thankfully and seem to have the knack with injecting from when I did the ones for IUI. I was most worried about not getting the pen with the cartridge set up correctly but I followed the video and my wife sat with me whilst I did it all, so all good! Are the downer injection needles thicker then? I'm just hoping that because I've given blood (a much thicker needle) and been fine with that, that I'll be okay 🤞

Ah yeah that makes sense, fingers crossed you won't be bloated for too much longer! Oh I can imagine that you're nervous but remember that it's a relatively minor procedure and they do it all of the time. I'm telling myself that anyway. Also did you have the HSG/had your tubes checked that they're open? Because for me that hurt so so much that I fainted so I'm like well I got through that with no pain relief yet the egg collection at least they use sedation. What time is your egg collection on Thursday? Xx

Mrsrmcc · 23/07/2024 20:44

oh brilliant! Good to be starting I bet 🤞🏻🤞🏻 No it’s not necessarily thicker it just feels different I dunno if it’s because it’s a syringe instead of a button like on the pen but the needle looks the same to me. I normally stim in my legs but they wanted downers in my belly which I think is partly why I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I will say it stings and itches like a bee sting when you first do it which is nasty but it goes within 10 mins. I know I did the stupidest thing reading horror stories on here of people awake now I’m like omg 😳. Wish I never googled it 🤦🏻‍♀️. And I’m stressing about ohss I really don’t want that 😩. Yes I had HSG and was totally fine with it, stung a little bit when the dye went in but other than that I was fine just a bit crampy! Although I’ve always used coils as contraception so I’m no stranger to vaginal procedures 😂. How did you find the iui did that hurt you? I wonder why HSG was so painful that would frighten me to death if it hurt you’re brave going through iui after that I’d have crapped my pants with nerves that first one xx

Yeah really glad! Ahh okay that makes sense. I tried injecting in my thigh during the IUI medicated cycles but it hurt more so I do them in my stomach.

It's so tricky isn't it. I'm glad I didn't read the horror stories online about the HSG beforehand as it did hurt a lot for me, but equally for some people like you it didn't really hurt. I think maybe my reproductive system is really sensitive or something. Apparently it's more likely to hurt if the tubes are blocked but mine weren't and it still hurt. But still glad I had it done, didn't hurt once it was finished.

The IUIs were a bit uncomfortable (no where near the HSG pain), mostly with them having to find my cervix that likes to hide 😂 but once the speculum was in place, the catheter part wasn't too bad. Realistically none of this process is partly comfortable, but I believe we can get through it 💪 hopefully short term pain for long term of having a child. Like, if we're lucky enough to get pregnant then there's child birth to have to go through too 😅 again, short (ish) term pain for being able to have a child xx

Mrsrmcc · 24/07/2024 11:32

It’s weird isn’t it. Most people prefer the tummy but it just makes me cringe 🤢.
Yeah it is really odd I’ve heard other women say it’s cruel you aren’t under sedation but like you say others it doesn’t bother them at all! Only thing I really remember about it is sitting up and crying my eyes out I dunno if it was relief it was over or because we were finally getting somewhere in our fertility journey I dunno but that’s the only thing I really can remember of it! Feels a lifetime ago after going through all this 🤣.
yeah I found iui slightly uncomfortable but it’s the same procedure as an iud fitting except it’s sperm not a coil so for me it was a breeze. Exactly that’s what I keep saying to myself it will be worth it and I’ll forever be grateful we actually have this kind of technology now days 🙏🏼 it’s amazing really.
Feeling absolutely shite today from trigger very bloated and my hips are killing me. How’s you any symptoms yet? It’s still early days xxx

Yeah tbf my needle this evening didn't go in quite as smoothly and did bleed very slightly so I clearly just hit a small capillary or something, it's so random depending on where it goes in. But all sorted, 2 down.

I'd have loved to have been sedated for the HSG but at least I know now that mentally I can actually take quite a lot of pain, even if my body decides to make me pass out 😅

Not long left now! Is it egg collection tomorrow morning? How are you feeling? Best of luck with it all and let me know how it goes! 🤞 I don't know if I've got any symptoms or if it's psychological but maybe slight bloating/twinges in my ovaries but honestly yesterday before my first injection I had a bit of that anyway, so could just be wind or something knowing me 😂 xx

Mrsrmcc · 25/07/2024 06:34

Ooh I’ll bet you’ll have a little bruise. You’re so like me 😂😂 I was exactly the same every little thing I was like 👀 it’s a symptom!!! I think I started to feel headachy and queasy after around 3 days.

yes 9am today been up since bloody 5 I can’t tell you how many nervy craps I’ve been for 🫢 I’m dreading it but ohss is playing on my mind even more I’ll be gutted if I get that 😩. I’ve got a shit load of coconut water and lucozades in to try and hydrate after apparently that’s suppose to ward it off somewhat but who knows. I will, I’ll message later if I remember how it went. Fingers and toes crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻xxx

Ooh good luck!! Remember it feels like such a big deal to us but it's a procedure they do so often. Fingers crossed for a good number of eggs. Also fingers crossed for no ohss. Rest plenty too. Keep me updated if you can xx

Mrsrmcc · 25/07/2024 13:46

All done been home a few hours and had a little nap 😴. It wasn’t even that bad!!! The build up and anxiety beforehand is way worse than the actual procedure. I woke up and said to them oh no I’m still awake you need to put more in and he said no no we’re all finished now 🤣 literally felt like 5 minutes. 16 eggs collected 🙌🏽 although not all of them will survive so here comes the nail biting part.
a little crampy after but they gave me a couple of heat pads to take home and said use a hot water bottle if needed. I’m struggling to wee a little bit but I dunno if that’s because subconsciously I don’t want to push and strain but it’s winding me up a bit. It’s just trickling out 🤦🏻‍♀️ Xx

Aww I'm so glad it went well. I was thinking of you this morning!! Really good to hear it wasn't that bad. And yay for 16 eggs! By not all will survive do you mean not all will fertilise or will some just not survive in general?

Bet you're so glad that's over. Really hope the wait to hear the outcome isn't too hard. Try to do lots of lovely things to distract yourself if you can xx

Mrsrmcc · 25/07/2024 20:03

Aw thank you 🤗 yeah so she just said don’t obsess on the 16 because some of them won’t survive being injected with sperm, some won’t be viable and some won’t make it through days 1-5 I think it’s 30-50% will survive. but I’ll be happy with 7!
yeah I know I can’t wait 😩 they’re gonna call tomorrow between 8-12 to let us know how many fertilised then again on day 2,3 or 4 to let us know how many have formed embryos and give transfer instructions for day 5 🫢. Starting progesterone on Saturday. How you feeling xx

Ah yeah, definitely the number will reduce from the eggs retrieved to how many blastocysts they get to implant/freeze. But fingers crossed it'll be a good number still 🤞
Hopefully the next few days will fly by and it'll be full of good news. Did the clinic say things are looking good for a fresh transfer? I.e. no signs currently of OHSS?

How are you feeling after the egg collection? Sounds weird but could you feel any of it during the procedure, like the needle going in or anything?

I'm doing okay thanks, 3 injections down now so still early days. I've had a bit of a headache this evening but that could be a coincidence. I've tried to drink plenty of water and it seems like it's starting to ease. Got my first scan on Saturday so just hoping I get a good medium of the meds working but not tooo much 😅 xx

Mrsrmcc · 26/07/2024 09:07

🙏🏼🤞🏻.
she said there was 24 follicles up for grabs in there but they only took 16 to avoid OHSS because the closer you are to 30 the more likely you are to get it. Every symptom has near on gone, the pressure in my back and hips and the twinges so I’m taking this as a good sign 😂. I’m slightly bloated but no where near what id expect if it was ohss and I’m still weeing like normal. Slight bit of cramping this morning but that’s expected isn’t it someone’s poked around up there 🤣
honestly nothing!! Last thing I remember is adjusting my oxygen mask to fit properly then I was gone, woke up 30 mins later in recovery don’t remember a damn thing. It felt like I’d closed my eyes for 2 minutes. I didn’t even feel sore up my vag after which I thought I might cos obviously they’ve been up there. They give you an option to have a painkiller up your ass too (when you’re asleep) I would highly recommend having it I think I would’ve been cramping bad if I’d not had it and it doesn’t even make you feel any sort of way like morphine etc does if that makes sense?
yeah my biggest thing was the headache 🤢 glad you aren’t feeling too shitty though. Praying for some good follicles up there 🙏🏼 have you had any twinges yet? Any bloating or anything? Xx

Ahh that makes sense! Really glad you seem to be symptom free so far woo, fingers crossed for you that it stays that way.

Aww that's so good to hear. Really hope that's the same for me too. Like I will cope with pain but I'd rather not 😂I'll definitely take up any pain relief that they offer!

No significant symptoms yet thankfully. Slightly headachy and maybe a bit lightheaded but that could be anything. Maybe a bit bloated but not too bad. I wonder if because I'm on quite a low dose that my side effects may be less obvious. Just really anxious yet really excited for the scan tomorrow. Half of me is worrying I won't have responded enough and half of me is worried that I'll have responded too much. I didn't sleep as well last night and I probably won't this evening knowing me 😅

Ooh yay that you've heard back. Does that mean that 6 have fertilised? Or does it mean that they are still waiting to see which fertilise but 6 have survived? Best of luck for Monday!! Xx

Mrsrmcc · 26/07/2024 11:03

Yeah I’m like that I’ll deal with it but rather not 😂. I think because you anticipate symptoms everything’s heightened too so even if it’s like a bit of trapped wind Or something automatically you’re like 👀 it’s my ovary 😂 just keep in mind that it’s still early days so either way they can adjust your dose to either speed up or slow down growth and if doesn’t necessarily matter as much how many there are in there like it does with iui. I remember on one of my iui cycles mine were growing quite a lot they tweaked the dose lower so the ones I did have grew but no more new ones got mature so it wasn’t a cancelled cycle. It’s horrible though every stage is just a waiting game you have to have the patience of a saint don’t you 😩.
So 6 of them successfully fertilised the rest didn’t catch now they’ll start growing over the weekend and hopefully make it to blastocyst on Monday where they’ll be graded on quality. Only 30-50% will make it xx
