Btowngirl · 09/02/2024 12:07

Hello, new here! Hope no one minds me jumping on.
Just had fresh transfer on Wed after short protocol. Previously had 2 unsuccessful IUI’s so moved to IVF. Just wondering if anyone’s ahead of me?

If anyone’s interested below are my numbers:

  • AMH 12
  • Initial scan after starting ovaleap 300IU daily showed 21 follicles
  • second scan showed 21 still but the doctor narrowed it down to collecting 17 on the day based on sizes
  • 15 collected on the day. Sedation was great (lol).
  • 13 were good, of the 13, 11 fertilised on day 1
  • day 3 had 7 looking good, 1 looking average and 3 looking poor

Transfer day (day 5):

  • 1 grade A transferred
  • was told we had 1 grade B and 4 grade C’s to freeze
  • got a call yesterday to say we have 1 more grade A to freeze which just needed to be left until day 6

On the day, the doctor told me that to quantify the grades, a grade A has around 56% chance of working and grade C has around 50% chance of working so there’s not a huge amount in it. Obviously everything counts but I found it reassuring!

let me know if anyone has any questions 😊

Also I saw someone saying they’re late onto their usually regular period, I was exactly the same and it made no difference. I just started the medication on day 2 as I had been instructed to do so shouldn’t be anything to worry about!

@Btowngirl congratulations on your egg collection that was good numbers fingers crossed 🤞 you will find out it will stick... when did they say you can test

Thank you! They’ve told us 12 days which seems wild because with the IUI it was 14, however I am sure it’s still going to drag. I guess it’s to do with the trigger injection timing being different 🤔 Trying to enjoy chilling over the weekend then work will keep me busy next week!

Cat191 · 09/02/2024 12:45

@Btowngirl the wait is probably the worst lol how did you find egg collection I've heard it's sore afterwards... I've asked the nurse all the questions lol and she told me 18days after egg collection because the hormones might be still in your body from the trigger.. what trigger did you go with they prescribed suprefact and gonasi 10000 for me but they will let me know after my scan which one to take

It’s such a range of emotions, one minute I’m like yeah this is chill and the next I’m like ‘I felt a twinge what does that mean’ l! 18 days seems quite a long time, that will be tough. I’ve not heard of your triggers, I had ovitrelle which is what I had previously for the IUI too. Have you had any scans yet since starting your stims?

Egg collection was honestly so fine. I felt anxious on the day and I’m a bit of a control freak so didn’t love the idea of being sedated and not knowing if I was talking rubbish or something lol. But actually I let it just take me and shut my eyes and found the whole thing surprisingly relaxing. That evening I did get a little abdo pain which was kinda sharp if I tensed by laughing/coughing but nothing to write home about! Loafed around on the sofa all day, then sat/sun resumed normal activity just took it a bit easier and was fine for work Monday with some really minor lingering abdo pain that coincidentally subsided the day before transfer! Have you got a provisional date for yours yet?

Cat191 · 09/02/2024 13:00

@Btowngirl it's all new to is lol so it's nice to chat to someone that's going thru the same thing... she said 18 days from egg collection test so I'm going for 5 day transfer like you so it would be about 12 days from transfer lol I've a scan on the 14th and egg collection on the 19th if everything is going well but she did say there might be a possibility that I might need a second scan on the 16th so I won't really know that until the 14th... I think its best to try keep busy and not think about it

Hey everyone, been watching the thread for a few days, wondering if to join or not, I don't want to cause any distress, so feel free to let me know if this isn't the right thread for me.

Started IVF 2021, 1st EC and transfer fail, 2nd double transfer twin loss, 3rd transfer fail. 4th EC and transfer fail, 5th transfer got us our son :)

Our boy is 9.5 months, and we are now trying for a sibling- I do NOT want to sound ungrateful, our boy is our pride and joy, but being an only child myself I am determined that I would like him to have a sibling (this is why I don't want to cause any upset, before him I would read posts and think people should be grateful for any baby- which I 100% am, but now in the other side of a successful pregnancy I still see how hard it is wanting to expand a family via IVF).

Anyway, I'm now on gonal, with EC provisionally booked for 19th Feb.... if I can help any new IVFers please feel free to reach out, I'm no expert but I've done it enough times to hopefully offer some support x

Hi @Cloclo93 im turning 34 on the 11th and my partner on the 14th 🤣 first cycle no children previously. I start injections on the 15th and scan on 23rd then provisional EC booked for 26. Kind of feel nervous thinking about it now. I go from being chilled to freaking out.

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 I think whether trying for your 1st 2nd or 3rd it doesn't really matter, well speaking for myself, because its still TTC and then moving onto IVF. So many go from natural to secondary infertility and some have success with ivf and try for a sibling. It is what it is and we're all on our own journey and these forums are for all of us to have support or someone to chat to throughout it all. Congratulations on your son ❤

Thank you @Sherr33 I'm finding this round just as challenging, in fact possibly more so, as I now have a lot less time on my hand for the self care I managed previously haha x

Sherr33 · 09/02/2024 13:34

@Btowngirl ahhh you've had your transfer eeeek. How have you found it all so far and did you make any changes throughout your cycle on lifestyle/work etc congratulations on your frozen embryos and fingers crossed this one sticks :) im terrible I google every symptom and I'm not even at the ec/et stage yet!

@Lasagne30 hope your feeling better! I think my EC is going to be end of next week poss Friday so hopefully I'll have the weekend to recover!

@Sherr33 happy last pill day!!

Hope everyone else is ok!

I've been for my scan this morning, all looks okay, follicles are growing which is a relief they have just been a little slow! They did find a small cyst on my left ovary but didn't seemed concerned about it! Back Monday for another scan! Nice chilled weekend for me!

Sherr33 · 09/02/2024 13:45

@waitingforourmiracle haha thank youuu!!!! I'm glad the follicles are growing well :) definitely should be a relax weekend for all

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 I am
also trying for a second child. I had my first scan of cycle 2 today. All seems Ok. Going back on Monday for another scan and I ll know more then. I know what you mean about the self-care with a toddler. Not easiest but trying!

@Lasagne30 hopefully it will ease up. I was fine immediately but slightly more cramping around day 3&4, painkillers helped but overall it wasn’t too bad. I plan to take a few days off for this round too.

Oh haha sorry I totally misunderstood! That makes sense then, mad how 12 days flies usually but takes ages when waiting to test isn’t it. We did test early with the first IUI but it was so stressful watching the line fade I wouldn’t want to do that again. Second IUI I knew it was neg I cold just tell from my body! Yes defo good to keep busy for sure! And that would be mad if you only needed 1 scan in the end. I’m terrible for finding significance in dates so I feel good about your cycle since your first scan is on valentines haha.

@Sherr33 thank you! Tbh I am fairly fit and healthy anyway but if anything I have gone the opposite way. Not sure if anyone can relate but the meds made me so exhausted! I commute 3 hours a day too but work have been good about working from home when necessary although I think I put the pressure on myself. It’s so hard not to be on Google constantly isn’t it!!

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 kudos to you managing IVF with a 9m old!

Eljane34 · 09/02/2024 17:39

Hey everyone, so just an update... I had my 3rd scan today, this was the determining one as to whether the round is cancelled! We have 2 good sized follicles at 22mm, 1 at 6mm and 1 at 7mm, also 1 monster at 25mm. The big and the smalls are not being counted as they won't have produced a quality egg, so all hopes are pinned on my 2 follicles. Egg collection booked for Monday!! taking a trigger on 1000 Gonasi at 10.30pm tomorrow nightm then a meds free day on Sunday.

All are hopes are pinned on these two follicle and hopefully against all odds we get at least 1 egg and pray its a golden one.

I have a couple of questions, which I wonder if anyone can help me with., or has opinions on...?

1 - what are your thoughts on using an Egg Donor? My partner is a hard no, and I am not sure.

2 - When you ovulate each month and confirm it with a temp rise, does this mean an egg has been released from the follicle? What happens to your cycle if you don't release an egg?

I ask because I'm trying to figure out how likely it is that my 2 follicles will actually have eggs inside. Every month I ovulate normally, and have had 1 miscarriage and 2 chemicals in the past 7 months. Does this mean that I am likely to have eggs in there?!

Hope everyone else is doing ok, there's alot of us on here now, its great to know we're all in this together xxx

TT82 · 09/02/2024 21:33

@Eljane34 hi, I'm researching DE route.. We have two kids, already mixed family (DH is not genetic dad), so yes a bit strange or griddy some might say.. We want 3 kids but now age is the biggest problem..
I have a rollercoaster, from yes, to no as what if our parents will say something or won't understand, then researching anonymous vs non-anonymous, when to say the kid, which country.. My husband is for it if it will give us a child to raise in love..
Have a look at donnor conception section here, also DCN website (donor conception network), they have really useful information on everything.
But lets hope our research will stop here and this cycle will be a successful for us xx

Hi everyone how is everyone keeping today

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 10/02/2024 17:15

@Cat191 feeling abit shocked that it's all crept up on me so quickly, 3 scans next week then collection the following Monday, it's all come round so quickly, the pull bit feels like forever, then the rest goes so quickly- abit overwhelmed today. How about you? X

TT82 · 10/02/2024 17:28

Hi all, not a lot to update from my side, I am on a downregg pill, apart from bad sleep so far it is manageable this time.. 😅
I have a dr appointment and scan on Tuesday and then will know a plan

Sherr33 · 10/02/2024 17:37

Hi all, my first day pill free 🙌
Bloated and gassy as usual and for some reason my moods are all over the place.
I start my injections on Thurs, providing AF arrives between now and then. Hope everyone else is keeping well x
