IVF / ICSI January 2024

Hi, is anyone due to start IVF / ICSI in January? We're going to do a 3 cycle package. I was hoping to start in December but hadn't realised Christmas closing would be so early! My clinic won't start fresh cycles after 30 November - my af is due any day now.

Got my protocol consultation next week, we've been doing lots of tests and my baseline scan. My husband was very sick earlier the year and we've now got MFI (low motility) and borderline sperm dna fragmentation. I've had recurrent miscarriages, combination of natural and ivf pregnancies, low amh, fibroids, adenomyosis... I've got immune issues so will be on extensive meds when we get to transfer. Trying to bank some embryos as this is our last go 🙏

Trying to see the wait as a positive to give us time to get the supplements in our system and eat well.

@VenusStarr it's awful the wait on updates, mine were all over the place. It just adds to the stress. Hopefully they are just really busy with it being Friday 🤞 For a good D3 update

I have a grade 4bc and a 2bb that they are implanting early Feb. Start medication next week.

I know overseas doubles are the norm just scary that both could be lost, both could implant or both could split.

Can you phone the clinic, @VenusStarr ?

I had 12 eggs retrieved on Wednesday and by Thu we were down to four. Proof that quantity means nothing!

I was in lots of pain on the morning of retrieval and none of the nurses seemed bothered/ concerned (I was crying and clutching my side). They sort of looked at me blankly and carried on about their day. Afterwards the doctor said she could see that I had a big haemorrhage in my ovary, follicles had ruptured. And that’s why I had been so sore. I felt vindicated and also pissed off nobody believed me or paid attention to the pain I was in.

Waiting game now. I know that if they phone today it’ll be bad news and we’ll have nothing to show for all of this. Hoping so much for at least one to make it to day five.

Had my update and its not great news. My clinic policy is to freeze a day 3 and they're watching the other 2 but the embryologist was realistic and said she didn't expect them to develop.
Had a good cry and going to try and focus ahead. We have 2 more cycles to try and get at least 1 blastocyst. If not, we'll defrost this day 3 and put it back on day 3.

@VenusStarr Im so sorry, I know how crushing these updates can be. Take it easy this weekend and look after yourself. Better days are coming!
@camelinastorm I’ve had sign off for a double transfer this time. Considering I only had one blastocyst last time, thinking I’ll have two to transfer is prob quite ambitious but if I do, they’ll both be transferred.

Sorry to hear that @VenusStarr it is so cruel after going through the pain of a cycle 😞 hope the next 2 cycles will bring you what you hope for. Didn't you say you were recommended to do estrogen priming next time? Looks like they will adapt according to what happened this time. Take care of yourself to be in a good place to start cycle 2 💛

@VenusStarr bless sending positive growth for the other 2. As you say at least you have 2 more collections, to enable a few more and it only takes one.
I find it so strange how so many clinics have different rules and regulations makes it a minefield.

@Blossomofhope oh at least they are doing the paperwork for if there are 2 that's good prepping.

Day 3 of Stims and I’m so, so fatigued. My brain feels like mush when I’m on Gonal-F!

Does anyone else get exhausted from it?

@VenusStarr just a bump in the road! I believe you will get your healthy baby soon 🤞 ivf is a nerve racking time! I havnt caught up on this tread in a few weeks been enjoy my Christmas eating and drinking, my ivf is been pushed back to February 8th! Day after my birthday, reading this thread is very helpful! Sending positive vibes I hope 2024 brings everyone here joy 🌟

@Copenhagener I hear you! Im on 300iu of gonal-f and I fall asleep sitting in the sofa at 9pm 😆

Thinking of you @VenusStarr! I know I’m personally seeing this first cycle as a bit of trial and error, good to know you have another 2 cycles ahead where meds can be adjusted and more tests can be carried out

Nothing to report here, just waiting for 22nd Jan.

My clinic have said they don’t transfer 2 blastocysts, they only transfer 2 if it is day 3. I am glad tbh as don’t want twins.

Bit worried that I started stims today, I would have been due on my period tomorrow and I feel like it’s coming! I have the usual chocolate cravings and heavy feeling in my uterus and ovary twinges🙄

@VenusStarr sorry to hear it. Everything I have read states for most people chances go up with each cycle. Have a rest then focus on next one. Will you do back to back or take a break? I am thinking to carry on depending on how I feel after EC, IF I get to that stage.

So I had a scan on Wednesday to hopefully get things started as it looked like my period was coming in. Not only did my consultant say my lining was intact but he found a polyp (possible cause of the bleeding). No IVF for us until it is removed. I am absolutely gutted, how many more obstacles do we have to overcome? Lord knows how long we will have to wait now. Wishing you all luck for your treatment, this was not to be our month after all.

@VenusStarr sorry to hear that the clinic aren’t very hopeful. It’s such a gruelling process and the waits after egg collections are such an emotional rollercoaster. Hopefully the other 2 develop and if not, you have 2 other cycles 🤞🏻

@potatosconelover hope you receive good news over the next few days. Will you transferring on day 5?

@Copenhagener @Loute02 stims are exhausting! Try to rest lots and stay really well hydrated (that seemed to help a bit for me- I drank coconut water for electrolytes).

I’m still in a waiting game 5 days post transfer. Not feeling very hopeful and each day just go so slowly during this time 😩

@VenusStarr so sorry to hear your update, I really hope those embryos hold in there 💪 it horrible waiting to hear outcomes. Would they change anything in the next cycle at all?

@camelinastorm we are hoping to have double transfer this time round we have requested it (aware there are slightly higher risks associated if both implant). I’m counting down the days and depending on if my lining plays ball we are provisionally getting a transfer on the 26th 🤞 do you know yet when you will transfer? Is it FET?

@IVF23 sending all the positive vibes for that embryo to stick!!! It’s such a rollarcoaster everyday isn’t it. I found initially I was like yeh I’m totally in control and then going into the second week wait I struggled!

After a week of limbo finally got the call that I’ll be taking the trigger shot tonight & going for egg collection for Monday. We are hoping for quality over quantity given the number of follicles. Hoping for the best for this first cycle.

Really interesting to observe the two embryos transfer policies in different clinics. Technically if someone is over 40 I understand most clinics will do it but I heard statistically the outcomes for 1 transfer and 2 are the same which is why single transfers are still pushed by most clinics. Fingers crossed for those of you going for two!

Our 2 didn't make it 😕 they're watching them til tomorrow but he said they'd not developed much from Friday. He did say he thought our day 3 is good quality - I said I was given the impression that it was no good but he's reassured me.

I'm seeing my consultant on Tuesday to review my protocol. I feel really sad that we didn't have a better outcome.

I’m sorry @VenusStarr - although it sounds like the third one is holding on. Hopefully they can adjust your protocol for better results next time. It’s tough.

@IVF23 how are you holding up with the two week wait? Can you test at home when the time comes, or do you have to go into your clinic? I vaguely remember one of the doctors at our clinic saying we would have to go in for a blood test at that point, as the trigger injection could mean a false positive. Hope you’re not climbing the walls, but fully understand if you are!!

Embryo transfer tomorrow for me. Momentous! Excited and nervous.

Hello all I had my egg collection Saturday morning( yesterday ) all went well they collected 19 eggs in total day of collection was a breeze didn't have any discomfort or anything on the evening either.
Today is abit different feeling slightly bloated abit of discomfort no pain.
I had an update from the clinic

19 collected
13 mature
8 fertalized

Hoping to do transfer if all is well on Tuesday or Thursday. X

@IVF23 how many days past your transfer are you and how was you feeling after egg collection? Are you testing out the trigger shot !

I have already started testing it out so I know what to expect with these HCG cheapies X
