@MoonIightDreamer hopefully your fertility clinic can offer more than your GP. It really is very unfair to add additional unnecessary stress to you. Which has now added more! I think the term assholes is very appropriate 🤣

Kitt86 · 15/11/2023 18:42

@MoonIightDreamer I had this blood test issue last round. My doctor's wouldn't provide me with two to check levels going up. However this time I contacted them prior to starting IVF and asked if I could have two if I paid for them and they have agreed. Might be worth an ask xxxx

IVFKinster · 15/11/2023 19:23

I imagine there's just a lack of understanding at the GP @MoonlightDreamer which isn't right but is standard. Because the HCG test is completed usually to confirm a pregnancy and pregnancy is confirmed at something like 5-10, 475 to confirm a pregnancy would be noted as high in comparison to the clinical significance level? Rather than being high in general for the stage you're at.

@LuckyPineapple when will you get your scan date? It is constant worrying. I've been making myself so anxious I've been making myself feel sick and dizzy and I've had to take time off work!

MoonIightDreamer · 15/11/2023 19:36

@IVFKinster yes that makes sense. You'd think they just be clear and say this is your result which means your pregnant rather than worry me.

Feel better soon. I know its really hard not to he anxious. How you feeling in general? Are you experiencing any symptoms

LuckyPineapple · 15/11/2023 20:20

@IVFKinster sorry to hear you're off work but you are right to put yourself first. The anxiety can be all consuming. I tried to keep myself busy in work today and then got stressed with what I was working on. Which made me even more stressed that it wasn't good for me. I'm hoping I'll get a date for my 7 week scan in the next couple of days. They've to phone me tomorrow just with second hcg results so all being well I'll be scheduled in.

IVFKinster · 15/11/2023 21:20

It's so unhelpful @MoonlightDreamer and not what you need at all. You know how nobody understands if they haven't been through infertility/ IUI or IVF? It's unfortunately exactly the same for doctors. They absolutely can't fathom it.
I have some pregnancy symptoms but can't concentrate on them because of the spotting and panicking. Things that I didn't have until this week (so assume not progesterone meds related) include night time sweats and needing to nap for an hour in the evening.
How are you feeling now? Do you feel less stressed?

@LuckyPineapple yeah I tried the same and then ended up feeling anxious about work AND IVF stuff. I hope you get results you're happy with and a scan date! It does help to have a date to "look forward to". At least it gives a potential end date to the intensity of the anxiety.

User491 · 15/11/2023 22:07

@LuckyPineapple I literally only tested yesterday and I'm already driving myself nutty. As awful as it sounds, I'm so pleased we are all the same 🙈 the amount of things I have googled is unreal 😂
Hope you get your date soon for your scan, to ease some of the worry.

@MoonIightDreamer hopefully what the other ladies have said have helped to put your mind at ease.

@Kitt86 do you mind me asking how much you're paying please? Is that through your clinic?

@IVFKinster bless you, so sorry the spotting is making you so poorly with worry 😞Hopefully Tuesday flies in and you can get some reassurance 🤞🏻

Millie89xx · 16/11/2023 04:39

Morning girls ! Sorry for the super early post (couldn’t sleep) jumped up because I forgot to take my night time pessary literally just put one in now .. would I wait now until my night time one or try fit another one in at some point this afternoon do you think ??? 🤔

MoonIightDreamer · 16/11/2023 08:11

@Millie89xx honestly not sure as I was on the vaginal gel progesterone so might be different but I was told to space it out and took them 12 hours apart

Hopingforno2in2023 · 16/11/2023 08:20

I would check with your clinic @Millie89xx :)

I am doing well, how is everyone else? Very lucky to have got so many new books for my birthday, they are keeping me nice and distracted.

Millie89xx · 16/11/2023 09:00

@Hopingforno2in2023 I just took it at my regular time today .. says don’t double up so I’ll just carry on as normal !

Also I couldn’t help myself this morning at had a spare cheap test knocking about and because I was up so early alone and just thought oh I’ll check and it was negative I’m only 3dp5dt way to early to detect am I right ? Or should I be disappointed ☹️

Millie89xx · 16/11/2023 09:00

@MoonlightDreamer thanks anyway hun

Melisss · 16/11/2023 09:08

@Millie89xx Think you should be fine. I almost forgot too on Monday morning to take it, got distracted with work and took it 2 h late. I put an alarm on my phone now and it`s working well.
I would say that is way too early to test.

IVFKinster · 16/11/2023 09:11

@Millie89xx I'd have probably done similar I think the advice is leave a two hour gap and pick up at your next dose. 😊 bless you being up so early. 3dp5dt testing is basically smacking yourself in the face with however much the test costs! Way way too early. I think the earliest I've seen anyone get a positive was 5dp5dt and even that is a blinky 'is it a line' line. Don't be disappointed but also don't best yourself up for testing! I've decided it's basically a compulsion most of us can't control.

IVFKinster · 16/11/2023 09:12

New books for birthday is the best kind of gifts in my opinion! Glad they're keeping you busy @Hopingforno2in2023 😊 are you reading anything particularly that you're enjoying?

Hopingforno2in2023 · 16/11/2023 09:26

Way too early @Millie89xx! A negative at 3dp5dt means nothing! Step away from the tests 😂

I have a load of crime @IVFKinster which is my favourite genre including the new Galbraith, Val McDermid, Poirot etc. Then a few non fiction too including one about the evolution of the female body which looks v interesting.

Millie89xx · 16/11/2023 09:30

@IVFKinster I think I was in a daze I panicked about the pessary and just tested I mean it was a shitty 99p test what probably won’t show anyway but I was like wahhhhh why did I do that ! I won’t be testing again until OTD thank you for the advice ❤️

Millie89xx · 16/11/2023 09:32

@Hopingforno2in2023 I think it was a reaction I was up so early I flapped about the pessary and thought oh I’ll do it 😂😢 positive vibes today . How ya doing ?
@Melisss yeah just took it and hoped for the best I know what am I like testing early daft aren’t I

IVFKinster · 16/11/2023 10:06

@Hopingforno2in2023 they sound interesting! I'd like to read more crime books so I'll look into the names you've mentioned. I'm not sure how I'd feel about the female body book 😂 let me know if it says anywhere in there why we've evolved to either not be able to get pregnant easily or why when we are pregnant there's no internal way to know how well the baby is doing. It seems like a flaw in the evolutionary chain. I feel like I should be able to sense it in some way.

@Millie89xx honestly, the tww panic is a thing. I've never tested before my period was due in the 4+ years of TTC and yet I was testing at 6dp my transfer. At night. An hour after my previous wee. So I get the crazy. 😊 Definitely shake it off and think no more about the negative test. Lots of positive thoughts for a sticky embryo 🤞

Millie89xx · 16/11/2023 10:43

@IVFKinster thank you only good thoughts now for the rest my days waiting it out 🤞🩷💙 I’ll pretend I was imagining it cos I was up so early 😭😂😂😂😂

LuckyPineapple · 16/11/2023 13:48

@User491 I think I've literally broke Google with my searching 🙈 My partner used to tell me to stop and now he has realised it's a lost cause 🤣

Second hcg came back at 321 so it doubled which I'm happy with. Trying to feel more reassured. I think our worries just change as time goes on. Thinking Christmas decorations might be a good distraction.

@IVFKinster You're right. It's always good to have something else organised in this process. Then it feels like I'm working towards something rather than limbo.

@Millie89xx bless you. That test just got you in a tired moment of panic. Don't think anything of it. I had a couple of moments like that and then chickened out.

MoonIightDreamer · 16/11/2023 15:43

@Millie89xx I think that's way too early. After implanted into the womb, it takes 1-2 days for it to hatch and to start burrowing in. Then think you have to allow time for hcg to start being secreted and to be high enough to be detected by a test.
I tested at 7dp and it was super super faint. Even then some women don't get positives at 7dp. Thats still only 12dpo in a natural cycle. I'd probably suggest waiting until 9dp to get a clearer answer. My 9dp was still 3 days before my otd tho

MoonIightDreamer · 16/11/2023 15:49

@LuckyPineapple glad to hear your hcg has doubled.
I tested today and my hcg has definitely increased. My lines are really dark and digital has moved up to 2-3 now but weather its doubling every 48hrs is the unknown and which is the main thing.
OH wants me to book a private blood test so i can get some answers for my sanity.
I went to the toilet today and noticed some very very light bleeding. I haven't had any since and I'm just hoping it's not a bad sign. It's what I've feared the most and has just upped my anxiety. I don't think I'm going to mention it to OH as I get the feeling I'm stressing him out with all my anxiety and negative thinking

LuckyPineapple · 16/11/2023 16:00

@MoonIightDreamer glad to hear your lines are really dark.
I did a cheaper strip test this morning and don't think I saw any change from yesterday. Personally I'm not a fan of them because I did 2 with the same sample and they look different. Just trying to tell myself that it increases every 48 hrs - 72 hrs. Don't know why I do this to myself.

Maybe your OH is right in getting bloods done privately. Sometimes the peace of mind is priceless. The spotting could just be breakthrough or implantation bleeding. I've read women can get this well after implantation actually happens.

I would definitely consider the private blood test to give you peace of mind.

IVFKinster · 16/11/2023 16:02

@MoonlightDreamer the fact your lines are getting stronger and the weeks have gone up is a good indicator of your HCG moving along.

I'm sorry you've had some spotting. I could write a whole page about the various bleeding I've had. Basically more days than not since frozen transfer. Somewhere between 60-80% of IVF pregnancies have spotting in the first 12 weeks and studies show that whether people bleed or not has no correlation to a positive or negative outcome of the pregnancy. It's absolutely scary and paralysing regardless. Make sure you let your clinic know.
