FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Anyone due to start cycle/have transfer in October jump on board!

Little history:

TTC our first. Trying for 4 years. Officially unexplained but I only have one ovary that responds/works. Fertilisation issues. Positive Sperm Oxidative Stress Test (likely DNA Frag). So it’s really a bit of a mix.

Dec 22/Jan 23 - First ICSI cycle. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One poor blast to transfer. Nothing to freeze. BFN.

July 23 - Second ICSI cycle. Using AOA & ZyMot chip. 8 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilised. One fresh to transfer and 2 to freeze. BFN.

Oct 23 - First FET scheduled.

Currently waiting for my period to start so that FET cycle can start. Should start beginning of Oct, so FET likely towards end of the month.

@Rosesinbloom19 making a note of extra greens in case there is a next time (I hope not but prepare for the worst and all that!). Really glad the acupuncture helped you though.

I've seen a few posters mentioning acupuncture. I think my fear of needles would somewhat defeat the object of it relaxing me...but has anyone tried acupressure as an alternative? Maybe I should give the acupuncture a go now before we're ready for transfer and maybe it won't be as bad as I think!

MoonlightDreamer · 31/10/2023 19:35

@SunsetsAndSandwiches I did acupuncture and honestly those little pricks of needles are nothing compared to the stim needles. The acupuncture needles are really fine.
I did fertility reflexology and found that alot more relaxing tho

LF82 · 31/10/2023 20:15

@SunsetsAndSandwiches I had reflexology before my transfer & it really helped relax me. In hindsight wish I had done it more/earlier x

Melisss · 31/10/2023 21:18

thanks for the tips everyone 😀 will continue chugging water then and some salty food. I feel like my appetite just went down the drain. Nothing sounds appealing to me.

I have seen accupuncture being mentioned in loads of places so I think it's worth a shot. My needle phobia could not handle it 😅

Hey guys,
Sorry it's a random message, it's been a hectic week, and I cannot keep up with the chat 🙈😅 hope you are all ok ❤️

Good luck to everyone in the tww, due transfers and collections! 🤞🏻

I have my collection tomorrow, it's been brought forward a day and it's looking very much like my first round, fingers crossed for at least 6 egg's tomorrow 🤞🏻
Feel so relaxed and calm about it all after a reiki app 🥰

Lauralozzle · 01/11/2023 06:34

User491 · 01/11/2023 06:47

@marshk thank you. Flicking through the thread while in the car. Congrats on those results, great to have so many in the freezer too! Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

Lauralozzle · 01/11/2023 07:09

Tested this morning. Another BFN.

I knew this morning, my boobs had completely deflated. Not even a hint of a line again.

I think I’m in that group of people where it just won’t work for us.

I was hopeful because I’ve not had any spotting but I guess with a FET I wouldn’t have had any.

I have another in the freezer. I’m guessing it’s extra tests now. 9dp5dt is 14dpo so it’s likely a very reliable result.

IVFDublin · 01/11/2023 07:16

@Lauralozzle oh I’m so sorry. I hope you’re ok and can look after yourself today.

I was actually coming on to post the same - BFN for me. I’ve only got one in the freezer but it’s pretty low quality so feeling a bit overwhelmed with the idea of having to go through a FET that will likely fail and then start from scratch.

Anyway I might take a little break from Mumsnet in the meantime - best of luck to you all 🍀

marshk · 01/11/2023 07:17

Oh I'm really so sorry to hear that @IVFDublin and @Lauralozzle - look after yourselves ❤️

User491 · 01/11/2023 07:24

@Lauralozzle @IVFDublin
Absolutely devastated for you both 😢
Take the time you both need to come to terms with this. Thinking of you ❤️

Lauralozzle · 01/11/2023 07:25

@IVFDublin I totally get staying away for a bit. I’m sorry, this is beyond shit.

IVFKinster · 01/11/2023 07:26

This process is so brutal and unfair. I'm so sorry @Lauralozzle @IVFDublin I hope you've got good support in your partners and feel able to give yourselves an emotional break. Lots of self care x

IVFKinster · 01/11/2023 07:29

@Lauralozzle are you still going to test on OTD?

I can't believe with all the money and all the science they haven't found a way to make IVF a guaranteed thing.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 01/11/2023 07:34

I am so sorry @Lauralozzle & @IVFDublin, take care of yourselves x

Lauralozzle · 01/11/2023 07:39

@IVFKinster Yes, because then the clinic will accept the result. So I’m back in the part of the 2WW where you know it hasn’t worked but still taking meds.

I’ll prepare my OH over the weekend I think. He keeps asking me if I feel different. This will shatter him.

I have one day 6 in the freezer and another round left. I think if this next FET doesn’t work and the next round of egg collection/any FETS from it don’t work I’ll call it a day cause I can’t keep doing this. X2 egg collections and x3 transfers in a year for me is enough. I’ll not look to transfer again this year.

LF82 · 01/11/2023 07:44

@Lauralozzle @IVFDublin I am
so sorry that it’s not worked. Ivf is the hardest thing to go through. I hope you are able to be kind to yourselves and take all the time you need to rest & recover over the coming days and weeks. Sending love

IVFKinster · 01/11/2023 07:48

@Lauralozzle what a horrible limbo period to have to be in. Have you paid for a multicycle? I think we've got the same package if I remember. No refunds. Just two cycles including all associated FETs? I think not doing another transfer this year is a reasonable decision. It's a lot to put yourself through on a rinse and repeat cycle.

Lauralozzle · 01/11/2023 08:21

@IVFKinster You have a good memory! Yes, we paid for a multicycle so one FET left and another fresh round.

I think I’ll definitely do the EMMA/ERA/ALICE. But it’s £1.7k without meds so it’ll take at least 4 months to save up for it. Luckily I think I have enough meds left over from this FET. There’s the care unity test for blood clotting which is much cheaper, so I think we’ll ask for that too.
