FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Anyone due to start cycle/have transfer in October jump on board!

Little history:

TTC our first. Trying for 4 years. Officially unexplained but I only have one ovary that responds/works. Fertilisation issues. Positive Sperm Oxidative Stress Test (likely DNA Frag). So it’s really a bit of a mix.

Dec 22/Jan 23 - First ICSI cycle. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One poor blast to transfer. Nothing to freeze. BFN.

July 23 - Second ICSI cycle. Using AOA & ZyMot chip. 8 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilised. One fresh to transfer and 2 to freeze. BFN.

Oct 23 - First FET scheduled.

Currently waiting for my period to start so that FET cycle can start. Should start beginning of Oct, so FET likely towards end of the month.

@4thcyclelucky that sounds like a good plan. It is hard for the men to be told to produce on demand (obviously they have an easier time of it overall, but I did manage to have a bit of sympathy for my husband on that point! 😂) I've saved the links you shared for future transfer, thank you ❤

SunsetsAndSandwiches · 28/10/2023 19:45

@Lauralozzle oh bless you, if anyone deserves a spot of good luck it's you ❤ Sunday lunch at your wedding venue sounds like a lovely way to celebrate. No doubt you won't be much in the mood to celebrate if you've not had good news, but I guess an anniversary is a nice day to reflect on how much nicer it is to go through the hard times with a great partner by your side.

Babyplease23 · 28/10/2023 20:48

@MoonlightDreamerI made the mistake of having a really full bladder on transfer day, before I'd even left the house to go to the clinic 30 mins away. When I arrived, they had a huge delay and I waited over an hour more for my actual transfer. I was in so much pain and transfers are really hard for me as it is (not the norm, don't worry!). I haven't made that mistake since. Now I go for a wee before I leave the house and just drink a bottle of water on the journey to the clinic/up until the point they get me in for transfer. Much more comfortable and less time trying to hold it!

@SunsetsAndSandwiches thank you for the tip regarding extra protein and salt after egg collection to help with OHSS symptoms! I've already got the other half to stock up on some lucozades for me in preparation so I'll add those to the list for him! 🤣

Thinking of you @Lauralozzle it's such a rollercoaster of emotions but stay positive. I felt exactly the same when I got my positive as when I got my two negatives, no symptoms for either so definitely don't take no symptoms to mean that it hasn't worked! I think we naturally assume the worst to protect ourselves from potential upset, but it's still early for you and every reason to believe you'll get your positive outcome ❤️

marshk · 28/10/2023 21:13

Not sure if it helps but my clinics guidance is that your bladder will be full if you drink approx 1/2 to 1 litre of water 1 hour before your transfer

4thcyclelucky · 28/10/2023 21:35

@marshk thats good to know, thanks.

I emptied my bladder twice 2 scans ago and the doctor said my bladder was full. Makes me think you don’t need to feel the urge to pee to think your bladder is full!

MoonlightDreamer · 28/10/2023 21:48

Off to bed I go. Hopefully I wake to the news that my transfer is going ahead.
I'll probably piss on the procedure table tbh as apparently we have to re do our consent forms first as we were originally down for a freeze all.
I still have an issue with not emptying my bladder properly since the retrieval as it hurts to do so. I cant hold it right at all atm. Thankfully my swollen stomach has gone down a bit.

Hi guys .. quick question as this is my first round I’m day 5 into stims today tonight will be 5th injection and noticed that clear mucas we get when ovulating does that mean meriofert is doing the job? Confused and flapping 😂😂😭 @Kitt86 your same as me have you noticed this ? Xx TIA

Lauralozzle · 29/10/2023 07:27

Morning ladies. Hope you’re all well. So perhaps unsurprisingly, it looks like my transfer has failed. I’m 6dp3dt and have woken up bleeding, bright red with clots so definitely not implantation bleeding. I’m disappointed but was expecting it tbh. Just hope we won’t have to wait too long to start a new cycle. Going to take a break from here but I will check in eventually to see how you’re all doing. Really hope you all get your BFPs. Xx

IVFKinster · 29/10/2023 08:17

Oh @GabbyGal I'm so sorry! I hope you can contact your clinic for advice as mine are quite strict about not stopping meds regardless sof what's happening until I've spoken to them. How heartbreaking. I hope you can take some time to look after yourself and go again when you're ready to.

KI19 · 29/10/2023 08:27

Really sorry to hear that @GabbyGal take care of yourself 💓

Hopingforno2in2023 · 29/10/2023 08:28

I’m so sorry @GabbyGal Flowers

marshk · 29/10/2023 08:30

Really sorry to hear that @GabbyGal - take some time and look after yourself xx

4thcyclelucky · 29/10/2023 08:30

@Millie89xx It’s proof the meds are working! - is what my doctor said 🙂

IVFKinster · 29/10/2023 08:43

@Millie89xx SO much EWCM during stims. It really is completely normal. I spent most of the time worrying about ovulating because there was so much.

@MoonlightDreamer goodluck for your tranfer! I took a very cautious approach with my bladder as I know if I drink 2 glasses of water I need a wee 30 minutes later. So I drank appropriately and completely ignored the advice given about how much to drink by my clinic. My bladder was full but not uncomfortable and that was good enough. I'm sure you'll be okay, just don't push yourself to breaking point with the water.

@IVFDublin I'll be using a boots pink dye test? I'm not sure they have the best rep for early testing (even though it's a 6 days early test) because ultimately it'll only be one day early. Is 10dp5dt basically 15dpo?? That's the way I've been viewing so don't feel I need an expensive test but I might be wrong!

@Lauralozzle did you have any symptoms during your previous transfer twws? I have had non stop period cramps. I was convinced my period was starting but no spotting or anything so I'm assuming it's just normal and the progesterone but some have them have been quite shocking! I'm sure what your eating during the tww in terms of healthy or not makes little difference at this stage? (At least that's how I'm justifying all the fruit juice I've started drinking and the bacon sandwiches 😂). Loads of nutrients in cheese and potato! Glad you've come to the end of the video saga. One thing ticked off the list! How are you feeling today?

IVFDublin · 29/10/2023 08:46

Oh @GabbyGal I'm so sorry. Hope you're looking after yourself 💙

4thcyclelucky · 29/10/2023 08:49

Sending wishes @GabbyGal, keep well and try again. In the meantime, spoil yourself a little.

IVFDublin · 29/10/2023 08:54

@MoonlightDreamer think its already been said, but agree with the others - don't overdo it and I'd say a wee 30-60 mins before and then just keep drinking water until the transfer. I ended up having to partially empty TWICE and found it not only very hard to gauge how much to let out, but I was also incredibly uncomfortable as was so full! But that said.. it's all very exciting and a big day so best of luck 💪

@IVFKinster I'm the same - am getting LOTS of cramps but no other symptoms (including no spotting). And am also struggling with the eating / how to look after myself... I want to start treating my body like I'm pregnant to give it the best chance but equally I don't want to think about it all too much until I've taken my test... a very fine balance 😖 And also yes I'm thinking the same re: 10dp5dt = 15dpo... might get myself a little home test too 🙈

Getting really nervous about OTD... just conscious of how much of a sliding doors moment it's going to be!

IVFKinster · 29/10/2023 09:08

@IVFDublin it's good to know the cramps are normal/common! Actually 😣 I'm getting a few other "symptoms" but I'm genuinely worried because the norm seems to be no symptoms for most people? So they don't feel like positive things 😂 I think you can't win the mental game on either side of the symptom fence as I've read lots of stories of people gett anywhere between no symptoms and all the symptoms and there doesn't seem to be a correlation for bfp v bfn. I like thinking about it as a sliding doors moment though. It's picturesque!

Millie89xx · 29/10/2023 09:18

@Lauralozzle ooohh thanks I woke up in a panic after I went for a wee ! Feel better now at the hospital tomorrow for 6day scan see if there doing what they are meant too! X

MoonlightDreamer · 29/10/2023 09:21

@Millie89xx yes completely normal don't worry. I had it aswell and was terrified I was ovulating before retrieval

Lauralozzle · 29/10/2023 09:31

@GabbyGal I’m so sorry. I know how hard it is. Take the time you need. I found having a short break, spend some time doing things I love to do really helped me.

@IVFKinster Symptoms in previous 2WW were: breast tenderness, cramping, I had nausea for a day. Cramps ranged from period cramps to twinges. I’ve got the same, period cramps but no period yet. Boobs are sore, totally normal for me. I started spotting 7dp5dt and 8dp5dt last time which was start of my period. Not sure I’ll still spot on FET though because I haven’t ‘ovulated’ ie. Had egg collection. We’ll see. If I start spotting Monday/Tuesday I’ll assume it’s game over.

@IVFKinster I still have the bloody cold/cough. Now my ear feels blocked. Honestly, I never get ill like this, so it must sound like I’m a right drama queen but it bloody sucks! I don’t feel like death anymore though.

Im cooking a roast today so at least I’ll eat some veggies. I’m trying to eat like I’m pregnant but on the other hand I don’t really see the point at the moment.

IVFKinster · 29/10/2023 10:51

@Lauralozzle it feels so cruel that periods can start before OTD like our bodies don't want to follow any rules of fertility at all. I'll cross my fingers that you don't have any spotting this time around. Colds can really knock you on your ass so I don't think you're being a drama queen at all. I hope it's a bit more manageable going forward for you.

I think one of the cruelest things about the tww is having to act like you're pregnant knowing we might not be ☹️

Are our embryos actually more fragile than a naturally conceived pregnancy? Because I'm sure people during their twws in sex conception cycles don't worry about how fast they're walking!
