FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Lauralozzle · 23/09/2023 13:09

Anyone due to start cycle/have transfer in October jump on board!

Little history:

TTC our first. Trying for 4 years. Officially unexplained but I only have one ovary that responds/works. Fertilisation issues. Positive Sperm Oxidative Stress Test (likely DNA Frag). So it’s really a bit of a mix.

Dec 22/Jan 23 - First ICSI cycle. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One poor blast to transfer. Nothing to freeze. BFN.

July 23 - Second ICSI cycle. Using AOA & ZyMot chip. 8 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilised. One fresh to transfer and 2 to freeze. BFN.

Oct 23 - First FET scheduled.

Currently waiting for my period to start so that FET cycle can start. Should start beginning of Oct, so FET likely towards end of the month.

@zoo18 i didnt know anyone who has openly shared their ivf experience in RL other than my acupuncturist and she told me the same day of her retrieval she was up running around as normal working and doing housework after work so I had the illusion retrieval is very minor yet here I am 4 days later still struggling to sit up or lie on my side 😆

Melisss · 27/10/2023 10:56

Hello everybody,

I have been lurking in the background as everyone was way ahead of me in their treatments and didn t know how to contribute.

I`m really happy for everyone that had their transfers done and hope you all give us good news soon 😀

Hope everyone is doing well on they stims and not too many unconfortable moments.

Had my baseline scan today to check the Buserelin was doing what is should so we have started stims today. Have a next scan booked for next friday. I just hope everything goes ok and that i feel decent. Have a busy work week ahead so I am a bit worried about that, how I am goign to manage it.

@NewBee21 I am also going through NHS but I trust they are doing everything they can. So far everyone has been lovely and helpful. In my head i think that the majority of people who work in these clinics understand the sensitivity of the process and want to help people fulfil their dream

Babyplease23 · 27/10/2023 12:11

@SunsetsAndSandwiches wow 10 fertilised is a great number, you must be super happy with that! I'm booked in for a fresh transfer at the moment. But if they need to do a frozen transfer I don't mind, whatever gives us the best chances under the circumstances! I'm hoping that upping my water intake and doing some steady walking at the weekend whilst I'm away will help to ease the discomfort! Luckily it's a fairly easy weekend work wise so I can take a step back a little which helps!

SunsetsAndSandwiches · 27/10/2023 16:23

@Babyplease23 yes we are delighted. I thought I had been coping quite well with all of the fertility stuff this year but I feel so much lighter today, it has obviously been weighing heavily on me subconsciously. Sounds like you have a good plan to try and ease your symptoms. I read that extra protein and salts after collection can also reduce OHSS. Fingers crossed you get your fresh transfer, but I guess at least you have made your peace with it if frozen ends up being recommended. Have a good weekend and hoping your next scan is good news 💖

IVFKinster · 27/10/2023 18:50

@Kitt86 and @Millie89xx how exciting your cycles are so in sync and you've started on your meds! Whether you do your injections yourself or get your partners involved I hope they go really smoothly and you get positive updates on your scans 😊

@Hopingforno2in2023 glad you've finally started stims and it's all a-go! Hopefully that's a relief to get started!

Well done @SunsetsAndSandwiches so glad to hear it went okay. When I was still feeling really rough after egg collection it was actual lucozade that made me feel better although I know the sports one is recommended! That's a great number fertilised!

@4thcyclelucky I wonder why they didn't do ICSI? I don't understand the decisions that are made sometimes!

Have lost track of who asked about bloatyness. Mine didn't go away until my next period started 14 days after egg collection! Lucozade made me feel less like I was dying. Lots of water, lots of protein and lots of rest also helped.

Congrats on starting stims @Melisss! Glad everything was okay at your baseline 😊

Any update @MoonlightDreamer

Ah I'm sorry for anyone I might not have even said hello to yet. I've missed like a page and a half maybe almost two pages worth of messages and have spent way too long writing this one!

3dp5dt today and.... Am going completely insane. That's about it for my update!

Kitt86 · 27/10/2023 19:10

@IVFKinster yeah I felt the same on my last round. Felt like no one warned me that I would be uncomfortable after egg collection and I didn't book any time off work and then had to at the last minute. I haven't told work this time round but feel more prepared so have booked in to work from home, which I'm super lucky to have the option to do.
However some of my IVF friends didnt feel as uncomfy as I did after mine so is probably quite an individual thing. I actually put on alot of weight (for me) during my last round /2 transfers. Put on about 12lbs,so lost a little bit prior to this round as I don't want to be caring about that stuff, since there's enough to worry about eh?!?!!
Hope everyone is good and keeping positive. It's such a hard journey and I'm thinking of you all. We got this 💪😁😘

MoonlightDreamer · 27/10/2023 19:26

@IVFKinster aha yes I bet your going crazy. How soon after transfer can you test?
Embryologist was happy and has decided to try take them onto day 5 so transfer has now been scheduled for Sunday. I'm trying to stay positive but also realistic in knowing its extremely unlikely all 3 will make it. I'll be grateful if one makes it til day 5 but it would be nice to have a spare in the freezer as I really don't want to have to go through all this again for a good few months. Thankfully they will freeze excess day5s. It was just the day 3s they wouldn't freeze

Lauralozzle · 27/10/2023 20:22

@IVFKinster 4dp5dt. I’m going insane with you! When is your test date?

@MoonlightDreamer Thats good to hear! day 5 transfer coming soon!

I’m still full of cold. Had a bit of acid reflux after having soup but can’t really put it down to anything apart from maybe eating too quickly!

IVFKinster · 27/10/2023 20:55

Oh gosh yeah I absolutely made that mistake @Kitt86 ! Told work I'd just need the day after off and ended up with a whole week off sick and then couldn't manage the 10 minute walk from the car park to the office so had to WFH! But I think the standard is to be sprightly within a couple days! I hope you have a quicker recovery this time. I cannot even talk about the weight gain 😂 absolute bloody nightmare!

@MoonlightDreamer it's 11 days past transfer that I've been advised to test! Ages away. Realistically I think the result would be pretty accurate at 9dpt but my husband is against breaking the rules 🤨. It's a positive sign for the quality of the embryos that they're going to take them to day 5. I feel like they'd be really unlikely to do that if they had concerns. A tense couple of days ahead for you but fingers tightly crossed 🤞🤞 I hope you get at least one for the freezer.

@Lauralozzle 4th Nov is our test day. Weirdly the day before yours even though I'm one day behind you! I could do a whole threads worth of symptom spotting honestly. I wasn't having any physical progesterone symptoms prior to transfer. But everything tells me (i.e. Dr Google) that everything could still be progesterone. I just don't get why I wouldn't have had them before transfer ☹️ yesterday I ate soft cheese because I forgot I couldn't. I hope your acid reflux is a good sign 🤞 🤞 today whilst talking about IVF, I saw a rainbow through the window! So I'm taking that as a more serious sign than the things going on in my body.

marshk · 27/10/2023 21:01

Omg these cyclogest pessaries are no joke - so messy!!

IVFKinster · 27/10/2023 21:07

@marshk I can't help thinking they must have been designed and invented by a man!

marshk · 27/10/2023 21:19

IVFKinster · 27/10/2023 21:07

@marshk I can't help thinking they must have been designed and invented by a man!

The only explanation! I've been doing them front way but I don't think I can hack the mess and the laying down anymore... think back way has to be the way to go

IVFKinster · 27/10/2023 21:24

@marshk I honestly think the back way is so much easier! No mess, no being still for a bit. It's not painful or difficult to put in. Just pop it in and carry on with the day.

MoonlightDreamer · 27/10/2023 21:35

@marshk I'm on the progesterone gel. You just insert the applicator and squeeze it out. Thankfully it's mess free

Lauralozzle · 27/10/2023 21:51

@marshk Back end is so much easier. Slips in very easily with a bit of ky jelly!

I’ve had no mess. TMI I know but progesterone gives me constipation and the wax and lubricant has helped that massively! Unexpected bonus!

Funny to think a few weeks ago I had the exact opposite issue! Seems like it was ages ago!

OP posts:
Kitt86 · 27/10/2023 21:53

@marshk definitely do them up the bum...lol. way less mess!! I feel like if it stays in there better then it must have a more steady effect 😉😃

marshk · 27/10/2023 22:34

Thanks all - up the back end it is! My boobs also feel so bloody 'full' and uncomfortable - cyclogest = not a fan 😂

KI19 · 27/10/2023 22:44

@IVFKinster@Lauralozzle my test day is 4th November, even though I'm only 1dpt5dt ! My clinic says to test after 9 days, though I think I'm going to do after 6dpt to see it I get another Chemical. My brain has gone into overdrive today and the progesterone gives me the worst upset stomach so feeling rather glum.

@Lauralozzle you going to test early? @IVFKinster well done for holding out! Love the rainbow sign 😍

Hope everyone has some good distracting weekend plans? I feel at a bit if a loss...! Also everyone recovering from egg collection I really think the lucozade sport helped, hope your not feeling too rough.

IVFDublin · 27/10/2023 22:45

@marshk i too switched to the bum bullet strategy - has to be done!! Couldn’t hack the disgusting-ness of the normal way 😵‍💫

@IVFKinster my OTD is the 3rd! Weird given we were the same transfer day. @Lauralozzle when is yours?

I luckily have had a very busy few days since transfer, so am ranging between forgetting altogether and then also second guessing everything as a symptom. It’s so tricky!! I have to go into the clinic for my test - I don’t think I have the guts to do it early at home, I couldn’t hack either a false negative or a false positive!! Also really struggling with what to eat or not eat. Was out with work for lunch and panicked about mayonnaise in all the cafe sandwiches so just had a cookie and then was starving! It’s a minefield 🤯

@MoonlightDreamer good luck for Sunday!! This part is tough waiting to hear about how many make it and the quality, similarly I went through all the moods and ranges of pessimism and optimism. But as I keep saying - you only need one at the end of the day! 🍀

IVFDublin · 27/10/2023 23:06

@KI19 I missed your post (must have been typing as you posted) - didn't realise you were around the same time!! Gosh this waiting really is the pits. And yep I've had the exact same upset stomach - I thought it was the bum bullets (still preferable than fizzy knickers!) but actually it makes more sense that its the progesterone.

The turmoil we put our bodies through!! My husband doesn't have a clue, he's getting away with murder!

IVFDublin · 27/10/2023 23:09

Also I'm so sorry for anyone I've missed (again 😣) - this thread is impossible to keep up with 😂

SunsetsAndSandwiches · 27/10/2023 23:56

@IVFKinster oh eek not sure I can cope with a whole 2 weeks of bloating, my stomach is so tight and (sorry for TMI!) but I have been burping quite a bit (never really do it normally!) And I'm convinced it's the pressure on my diaphragm or something?! I will try your suggestion of some proper lucozade though, thanks for sharing that tip 😊 although I see @KI19 says lucozade sport helped her, maybe a bottle of each for good measure 😂 fingers firmly crossed for you both (and everyone else (im)patiently waiting!)

@MoonlightDreamer thats amazing news, everything crossed for two or three day5ers!

I had no idea the progesterone pessary was anything other than vaginal! I've been trying not to Google as I tend to go down rabbit holes so this thread is proving quite enlightening about what is to come!

IVFDublin · 28/10/2023 00:13

@SunsetsAndSandwiches my bloating went down after 3-4 days, I found that movement helped a lot! I felt way better after some light exercise (and also lots of water like the others!)

Melisss · 28/10/2023 04:07

I just had such a rough evening...well it's 4 am and I am still awake. Just not feeling like myself at all, feel the need to cry at every little thing.
Also I had the most insane headache and after just generaly feeling like I need to throw up.
Is this normal after one day of stims? How in the world am I going to survive this 😭
In felt ok for 2 weeks on Buserelin and now everything came crashing down.

IVFKinster · 28/10/2023 07:35

Weird how we've all got different "tww" times! I wish my test day was the day before! weird how clinics are different. I definitely want to test a day early but I agreed not to test without the husband and he won't get on board even though I've told him it'd probably be accurate by then.

@KI19 We've got nothing planned over this weekend 🫤 which is a mistake! Fingers crossed you get a lovely clear and continuing positive this time. When did you start getting positives before? Sorry about your upset tummy, I hope it settles eventually.

@IVFDublin will you be going to the clinic for a urine test or a blood test? My clinic have given the option of going in for the urine test but I can't do a 1.5 hour drive at 4am which is when I'll be wide awake waiting to test! I think mayonnaise is okay isn't it? As long as it's been made with either pasteurised egg or red lion stamped eggs in the UK? Although I guess you'd have to ask if that was the case and people around you might be a bit 👀👀

@SunsetsAndSandwiches oh my goodness 😂 I was absolutely the same. I did a gross burp every single time I stood up. Or rolled over in bed. Definitely all the bloating and the gas. Have you contacted your clinic just to let them know how you're doing? Might be best just in case.

@Melisss I'm sorry you had a bad evening ☹️ I think it sounds like a reaction to the stims. I found the dropping and then pushing hormones back up really difficult throughout this whole process. Hopefully it settles after a couple of days, you just need time to re-balance! Be kind to yourself and nap all day with cookies nearby! It'll get easier.
