4BC blastocyst - success stories

KG1244 · 22/07/2023 16:27

Hello lovely people.
After my EC in March, I was able to get 4 blastocysts. 2 x 5 day embryos - 4BB 4BC and 2 x 6 day embryos - 3BC 4BC

We did a freeze all and transferred the 4BB last month which sadly failed. If my period behaves, we should be doing another FET next month with my 5 day 4BC. I’m not feeling very optimistic. My clinic never suggested PGT testing and I don’t want to do it now they have already been frozen. Having searched google for hours, the stats for live birth with a 4BC don’t fill me with much hope. Are there any success stories out there?

@Maria12060 No problem at all. I found quite a lot of the questions people asked and his answers really helpful. Particularly when it came to embryo grading.

Sir Robert actually kindly emailed me back when I emailed him out of desperation a few year ago. He did say that IVF was unlikely to work for me after some really terrible rounds, but fortunately we proved him wrong (eventually).

@Maria12060 very few clinics would recommend defrosting and refreezing embryos for testing, especially given you are 36 and a high proportion of your embryos should be genetically normal. I asked the very pro PGT embryologist at my clinic once and he said even he wouldn’t risk defrosting mine, and I was slightly older at the time.

Maria12060 · 19/11/2023 11:42

Thanks so much @Porridgeislife
i also read somewhere that genetically abnormal embryos typically won’t implant anyway or may result in a chemical pregnancy down the line.
looking forward to hearing create’s embryologist’s views - they were quite hesitant to give me any clear answers as it was my first round

KG1244 · 19/11/2023 13:47

@Porridgeislife I did notice that he very frequently said to people that ivf probably won’t work for them and to keep having sex which I found quite difficult to take. He does not mince his words! So pleased to hear ivf worked for you in the end ❤️

Just had my transfer. Interestingly, my 4bc became a 4bb once it was defrosted. I'm not sure how that happened or if they were just to harsh rating it previously 🤷‍♀️

KG1244 · 20/11/2023 15:26

@CycleGirl20 ive heard about that happening. Really good sign! Wish you well in your 2WW. Is this your first transfer?

OP posts:
CycleGirl20 · 20/11/2023 15:55

@KG1244 second transfer. The first one resulted in a successful pregnancy which is now my daughter. 1st go back on the IVF train this time around though!

CycleGirl20 · 21/11/2023 07:58

Tired this morning and keep getting lightly dizzy spells. It's obviously too early for any symptoms and must be the progesterone!

CycleGirl20 · 21/11/2023 08:00

@KG1244 how are you getting on with your pregnancy?

KG1244 · 21/11/2023 08:32

@CycleGirl20 yeah the hormones definitely mess you up. I felt like I had more symptoms on my failed cycle so I really do think you can’t read into it at this stage but definitely take it easy and good care of yourself. I’m doing good. Just over 15 weeks and starting to look a bit more pregnant rather than I gained a few pounds! I think the sickness is easing a bit which is good but still very tired - lots of regular naps for me 😂

CycleGirl20 · 21/11/2023 09:20

@KG1244 the tiredness got me on my successful cycle! I was tired all the time! Glad you're doing well and are through the first trimester. You're right about the hormones though. You think "I'll put this out of my mind as I need to wait a little while to test" then your body constantly reminds you because of the drugs your taking

KG1244 · 21/11/2023 10:07

@CycleGirl20 yes it totally messes with your head. Are you planning to test early or wait until OTD? X

OP posts:
CycleGirl20 · 21/11/2023 10:48

@KG1244 I'll need to test a couple of days early as we're going away for a week and is like to know before! Plus I might need to get a hcg measurement at the clinic 🤞

MoonIightDreamer · 21/11/2023 10:59

I had 3 blasts
5BC 3CC 3CC
I transferred two and I'm currently 6 weeks
I was told my chances of success would be low due to them being poor quality but obviously mine implanted. I wouldn't hesitate to transfer a low grade embryo again

CycleGirl20 · 21/11/2023 12:22

@MoonIightDreamer congratulations

Mamash · 21/11/2023 16:13

Congratulations to everyone!
I'm now 35 weeks and four days!
I'm tiredly counting down 🙈🤪🙂
Just eagerly waiting to have my little one!
It's been a journey for me with severe HG in the first two trimesters and hypersalivating (which typically will be there till baby is out), acid reflux, dehydration, nausea, low blood pressure and now Braxton hicks!

I think I am a textbook pregnant lady! I tick all the symptom boxes apart from weight gain (lost loads of weight due to HG)

Despite everything, I am grateful for the unique journey... knowing where I've come from with multiple factors causing infertility to now having my second successful FET and pregnancy....
I'm truly grateful

Maria12060 · 21/11/2023 20:58

Congratulations @Mamash!!! Hoping the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly- I am so sorry to hear of your difficult journey to 35 weeks!

@KG1244 hello how are you feeling?
youd mentioned you were on Cyclogest and Lubion after FET. Can I please ask whether your clinic did a progesterone profiling / series of blood tests before you were prescribed those?

i have short luteal phase And my clinic has said they’ll keep an eye on my progesterone levels but if there’s any additional tests your clinic did that you think helped with the early pregnancy at least it’d be super helpful to know.

TIA :) xx

KG1244 · 22/11/2023 08:11

@Maria12060 so they were planning to put me on Cyclogest and then the progesterone that you inject in your bum but I asked for lubion and they agreed. They just did one blood test on the day of transfer and that was it. What have your clinic suggested? X

OP posts:
Maria12060 · 22/11/2023 11:01

Hi @KG1244 thanks!

Theyve suggested cyclogest pessaries 3 times a day 400MG.

but I’ll insist on a blood test to monitor the correct dosage etc :) x

CycleGirl20 · 23/11/2023 08:53

Just wondering, how rubbish did you all feel during the 2ww? I'm 3dp5dt and have a mild cold. Trying to work out what's the cold and what's the progesterone. Struggled to sleep last night and now feel a bit shaky/physically tired. I do have mild cramping here and there too, which is obviously not the cold. I'm trying to remember from last time, but have forgotten a bit

AnxiousIVF · 23/11/2023 22:44

I had a 4BC transferred in August, almost didn’t transfer it as like you we were pessimistic. This was following a miscarriage and failed attempts with 5AB, 5BA, 4AA, 4AB. I’m now 15 weeks pregnant and all is going well.

CycleGirl20 · 24/11/2023 09:45

@AnxiousIVF that's great news! That cheered me up a bit.

I'm struggling a bit at the moment as I've got a cold and the progesterone is making me feel extra miserable 😣. I've been all of a sudden struggling to sleep in the night, which makes it even worse. Plus I have mild cramps which could well just be the drugs, but makes it hard to put out of my mind. I think I remember the progesterone being pretty awful last time.

I'm 4dp5dt and reaching a point where I might get something on an extra early pregnancy test which might help explain why I feel so awful if it's positive. It's tempting but I'm trying to hold out. Last time I waited till 9dp5dt. I don't want to get a positive now and it be a chemical in the next couple of days, or get a negative and have to keep taking the progesterone. Plus, I often find with testing early in natural cycles, the result of the test is inconclusive anyway and then you just end up worse off!

CycleGirl20 · 27/11/2023 07:02

I've been up half the night feeling nauseous and I've not slept well for about 5 days. I'm only 7dp5dt, but I decided to take a test anyway and I'm pretty sure it's positive. I took 3 others as well just to be sure 😅. Feeling pretty awful, bit happy. Although it's obviously super, super early so hesitant to get too excited.

KG1244 · 27/11/2023 10:21

@CycleGirl20 ah wow! Yay that’s so exciting. I would have thought if you’re still testing positive tomorrow, you’re preggers! Sorry to hear you’re feeling awful already. I really think the progesterone we take messes us up!

OP posts:
CycleGirl20 · 27/11/2023 10:34

@KG1244 thank you! Very exciting. I think they are positive, but I know what you mean. I'll keep an eye on line progression. With my last pregnancy, I didn't really believe I was pregnant until I was about 35 weeks 🙈. I want to try to enjoy this one a little more, but we'll see
