FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@Lauralozzle thanks - google hasn't been as kind about the numbers but they seemed happy enough at the clinic so trying to go with that.. next scan Wednesday morning.

There's so many steps to this and so many opportunities for something to go wrong. Its very challenging trying to stay chill.

Olivia199 · 10/07/2023 20:35

@AnaS86 - They're amazing numbers!

It really is such an up and down. Until about 6 hours ago I was very excited for tomorrow's scan. However slowly but surely becoming more and more apprehensive about it.

@Olivia199 crossing everything for you. I'm sure it will go well but I understand the anxiety. Keep us posted.

There was a little part of me that was disappointed I wasn't ready after the first scan (as they did say it was a possibility) but on reflection I'd rather stick to the schedule set out and not rush everything.

Lauralozzle · 10/07/2023 20:56

@AnaS86 My last egg collection we got 8 eggs, 7 were mature.Clinic said a good number, without risk of OHSS was between 8-15 so I think your numbers are good.

I’m really hoping I get similar amount again, just hope they fertilise this time around!!!

ASGIRC · 10/07/2023 21:24

@@AnaS86 Those numbers sound amazing!!! hope it goes as planned!

@Olivia199 what are you being checked for tomorrow? Number and size of eggs? Im sure it will go well!!

I had another scan today. I have 1 14mm follicle now (after the doctor not being able to see any on thursday).

Going in for another scan on wednesday, to check progress and then transfer will be next wednesday or thursday, depending on size of the follicle, and another set of blood work (the ones I did yesterday showed I wasnt quite at the ovulating stage just yet!).

Have the progesterone pessaries ready, but the doctor said to hold off on buying the ovitrelle, as I might not need it.

Olivia199 · 10/07/2023 22:01

@AnaS86 - Thank you, I will! It's just creeping in that another bump in the road could happen. Hopefully I'm blissfully happy that all is on track this time tomorrow..

@ASGIRC - Amazing! So glad it all seems to be going in the right direction and bonus if you don't need to trigger.

Mines just to check lining. It's cycle day 8 so earlier than the normal check at 11-13. So I have no illusion I'll be told a transfer date (though that'd be nice!). Should imagine I'll just get called back for another scan either Friday or Monday and then given the go-ahead to start progesterone from there.

I think whats throwing me is that I didn't have this extra early scan last time. It's only to double check I don't need to up my dose, with the rational being that if I did it'd give me more time before they close.

But my last fet, I went in on day 12, lining was perfect and I went ahead on progesterone. So it being new is throwing me off.

ASGIRC · 10/07/2023 22:16

@Olivia199 Ahh!! Well, if it reassures you, my scan on Thursday was also a day 8 scan. I had nothing to show for it, apart from, apparently, a nice lining forming.
Today was day 12 scan, and lining is looking great, follicle still not there.
So another scan on day 14, for me!

Havent really been told when to start the progesterone, but Im sure shell let me know on wednesday.

Im a bit sad that my doctor wont be able to do the transfer herself. I think shes on holiday next week, as she mentioned she wont be around to do it.

I hope they see a good lining, but yeah, you are probably looking at another scan later in the week!

Olivia199 · 11/07/2023 13:36

@ASGIRC - Oh I'm sorry your doctor can't do it! I've never seen a doctor face to face other than for collection and transfer. So my favourites are the nurses who have honestly treated me like family.

Hope your next scan goes well! My lining was trilaminer and 10mm so starting progesterone on Saturday and then transfer Thursday 20th!!!

@Olivia199 OMG!! That's so exciting!!
And you were worried you wouldn't find out anything!!

We'll be transfer buddies! Mine is gonna be Wednesday or Thursday, depending on tomorrow's scan and bloods!!

At my clinic I've only ever been seen by the doctor. She's the one doing all my scans, etc. It will be weird to have a different one for the main event! But I'm sure it will be fine.

AnaS86 · 11/07/2023 13:47

@ASGIRC and @Olivia199 all being well my transfer should also be next Wednesday or Thursday :)

Ellenn · 11/07/2023 13:49

How exciting for everyone having transfers soon @Olivia199 @ASGIRC and @AnaS86 i hope it all goes smoothly!

I’m waiting on my period arriving still it’s slightly late but I didn’t track anything this month so no idea when I ovulated! I’m thinking it will arrive in time for my partners birthday on Thursday 🤣

ASGIRC · 11/07/2023 13:56

@AnaS86 how very exciting!!!

I can't wait!!

@Ellenn I'm not sure if I'm hoping it stays clear until your partner's birthday or for it to come immediately! 🤣🤣

wtawtaw · 11/07/2023 15:42

Hi all, I'm new to the forum, hope you don't mind me joining this thread! (Just realised I posted on the June one so re posted on the correct month 🤪)

I started to read through the posts and then realised I need a spare few hours for that 😅

I had my embryo transfer yesterday! This is my second IVF cycle (first was in January but it failed and we had no frozen as back up so had to start again). Fingers crossed it works this time!

My OTD is 21st July!

Good luck to you all xx

Olivia199 · 11/07/2023 15:44

Oh how exciting that there are three of us transferring together! @AnaS86 and @ASGIRC, soon enough those little embryos will be home safe. Then we can drive ourself mad on the TWW!

Oh a doctor for everything?! Fancy! I've had one phone call with mine and that's all.

Welcome @wtawtaw ! And congratulations on your transfer. Sounds like a tough road. Got everything crossed for test day. Are you an early tester?

Thank you 😊 yes it's been super tough but this round has been completely different from the first, we didn't even make blasts on the last round.

Where are you at with your cycle?

ASGIRC · 11/07/2023 15:52

@wtawtaw Welcome!!

Fingers crossed the next few days go by quickly!

@Olivia199 this is my first time going through it, but Im usually pretty chill, so Im hoping to carry on my chillness during TWW!!! But I guess well find that out next week!!

Haha yes, I havent even so much as SEEN a nurse! Not entirely sure they have them, if Im honest!! 😂

Olivia199 · 11/07/2023 16:03

@wtawtaw - I had a scan today and lining looks great so having a FET next Thursday. This is a sibling round for my as my first FET resulted in my daughter who's nearly 2.

OP posts:
Olivia199 · 11/07/2023 16:04

@ASGIRC - I was not chill for mine. I tested early and then googled every three minutes.

That's crazy! Literally everything is nurse led at mine and it's one of the most amazing clinics. They're all so lovely and have held my hand through every stage. They made me feel like they were as excited about my positive test as I was last time! And welcomed be back with open arms.

OP posts:
wtawtaw · 11/07/2023 16:07

@Olivia199 ahh amazing! Do you remember the grade of your embryo that resulted in your daughter? When is your transfer booked for?

ASGIRC · 11/07/2023 16:13

@Olivia199 It really doesnt matter whether its doctors or nurses, as long as they make you feel welcome and treated well!

Im debating whether to buy pregnancy tests or not... On the one hand, I dont want to test before time. On the other... will I really be able to NOT test beforehand? 😂

Olivia199 · 11/07/2023 16:18

@wtawtaw - My transfer is booked for 20th at 1:30!
My daughter was a 5AA hatching blast so as good as it gets. Transfer buddies was a 4BC and we both got our little miracles!

Olivia199 · 11/07/2023 16:19

@ASGIRC - I've already bought a box of 20 of the cheapie dip sticks and I'll get some boots ones in town tomorrow. I'm not even going to pretend I won't test. 🤣
Though I'll undoubtedly be sad if I don't get a super early positive like I did with DD.

Ah fab. Mine yesterday was a 5AA hatching blast too so I really hope it stays with me!
Not long to go for your transfer! Don't you find time just drags with the IVF process!
