IVF/ICSI/FET - June 23

Hi!

I'm going to be starting my medications ready for a FET in June. Anybody else in the same boat or starting their cycles?

I've done one round of ICSI and had a fresh transfer in March that wasn't successful but we got 5 frozen day 5 blastocysts from it. Happy to answer any questions for anyone starting their journeys :)

I did it!! No issues and very easy. Although it is stinging a bit now....! I used the alcohol wipe in the box and have heard that can be the thing that makes it sting. So might try without it tomorrow. My nurse did say I didn't have to use it.

Is it odd that I actually feel quite proud of myself? I have a massive fear of blood tests and not a big fan of needles..... yay - 1 down x

HopefulHead · 17/06/2023 06:48

@Lebe14 Well done 😃😃 first one done - you’re on the way now 🥳
I found that part of the process the quickest to be honest, there’s so much waiting time with doing ivf so I kind of enjoyed that part where I was doing something every day and felt like it kind of just all flew by in a swirl of injections and scans until before you know it it’s egg collection day 😃
Mine were a little stingy too, the one you start on day 5 was worse for me but by then you’re kind of used to it 🫣

How are you feeling today? And symptoms to report?

Lyrabee · 17/06/2023 08:40

@Lebe14 well done lovely! It's not the easiest thing to do to yourself!

We are with Care Fertility. Avoided the NHS following some less than stellar experiences!

How is everyone doing?

Thanks @HopefulHead - my nurse has warned me about the day 5 morning ones... I'm using Fyremadel and need to start that on Tuesday. Not looking forward to it but have ice packs ready. I'm feeling tired today, but think it's probably unrelated as I've only had 1 injection. Other than that, nothing to report!

@Lyrabee we didn't try NHS either. Thought it would take too long and my area only offers 1 round.

HopefulHead · 17/06/2023 11:23

@Lebe14 Yes I was on fyremadel too, the needles were a little thicker than the stims one so was a bit sharper and when I did the first one I thought I must be allergic to it because of how much it stung and sh*t myself 😂 but then a quick Google told me it was normal and my clinic just hadn’t warned me lol.
I would do them all again in a second though to have those 4 little magic beans in the freezer so it’s totally worth it and it doesn’t last forever ❤️

@Lyrabee Im good thanks 🥰 Enhoying thinking my current period could be my last for 9 months 😂
How are you?

KG1244 · 17/06/2023 13:05

Surged this morning on ovulation stock so spent the morning in the clinic. They’ve booked me in for embryo transfer on Friday 😬😬 omg I can’t believe it!

HopefulHead · 17/06/2023 14:20

@KG1244 So exciting 😁😁 will be a long few days I’d imagine! Bet you can’t wait now you’re so close can you 🥰

Lyrabee · 17/06/2023 14:34

@Lebe14 yes we are one round with the NHS too which is ridiculous since most couples are not successful on initial rounds.

@KG1244 amazing! That's fantastic, so excited for you lovely, my transfer in on Monday so we will be close 😀

@HopefulHead aaaah yes fingers crossed! I dont know about you but every period over the last year has just felt like more of a kick in the teeth!

I had my progesterone blood test today. They said if I don't hear from them it's good news and if I do hear from them I might need to use an extra pessary a day but either way it's rare they'll cancel a transfer unless my level is really low.

Haven't heard from them yet and should get my transfer time tomorrow!

KG1244 · 17/06/2023 14:48

@HopefulHead @Lyrabee thanks both! I honestly can’t believe it.

We can 😬😬😬😬 together @Lyrabee lots of luck for Monday! Have you done any research on things to eat etc? My brain has gone into overdrive a bit!

Lebe14 · 17/06/2023 14:56

Ahh transfers on Friday @KG1244 and Monday @Lyrabee. So exciting and nice that you're only a few days apart. How are you feeling about them? Xx

KG1244 · 17/06/2023 18:51

@Lebe14 still don’t believe it. Feeling really hopeful at the moment. How are you doing today?

Does anyone have an pessary advice? What sort of times did you do them? I was thinking 8am and 8pm. Presume it’s like using a tampon….

HopefulHead · 18/06/2023 06:43

@KG1244 & @Lyrabee as long as I ovulate on the Wednesday and not the Tuesday 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 I will be transferring Monday 3rd so I’ll be about a week behind you both, so you can both prepare me for how the TWW will feel 😬
I’m just really worried now I’ll ovulate on the Tuesday and they will cancel this month as they’re closed on Sunday 🫤

@KG1244 I didn’t get to transfer so never used my pessaries but the nurse who went through them with me told me that most women find them better up the back passage as they can irritate the cervix and sometimes cause bleeding which leads to stress… and I have seen on a few threads that this seems to be the case 😬
I’d probably do about the same timings so it would be before and after work xx

Lebe14 · 18/06/2023 11:33

@KG1244 really is so exciting and glad you're feeling hopeful. Positive thinking is good 😊 I'm feeling good today. Was shattered yesterday and spent pretty much most of the day in bed. Not sure if it was stims related or not.

Ahhh @HopefulHead that's so exciting for you too!!

Xxx

Lyrabee · 18/06/2023 15:26

@HopefulHead oooh fingers crossed for you this week!

@KG1244 I have no advice on foods tbh, I reduced my caffeine and will try not to eat too much sugar but my clinic recommends eating as though you're already pregnant so no deli meats and mind fish and cheese etc. I don't want to overthink it tbh as think it'll stress me out!

For pesssaries, definitely up the back! I bled a bit with them the first time around am sure it was from my cervix being irritated and because it gets a bit messy up the front I can't help but worry I'm not absorbing whereas I've had no leakage from the back so I can't just put them up and carry on! 🤣

I do them about 8am and 8pm :)

My transfer is 9.30am tomorrow :)

KG1244 · 18/06/2023 16:34

KG1244 · 18/06/2023 16:35

@Lyrabee thank you for the advice. Lots and lots of luck for tomorrrow. Keep us posted xx

HopefulHead · 19/06/2023 06:30

@Lyrabee Good luck today 😃 the first in the group to be having a transfer 🥳
hope it all goes nice and smoothly and you can relax and enjoy being PUPO ❤️

pixiemum2 · 19/06/2023 07:42

Hi all! 👋 Hope you don't mind if I join this chat.

I am 40, first time IVF, got a 6yo DS conceived naturally but we have not been able to get pregnant naturally since.

Have started treatment, am on day 7 of stims and will have a scan this morning. Last scan showed 6 follicles. AMH is quite low, but keeping fingers crossed! DH's sperm is fine but we will likely do ICSI to try and maximise our chance.

@Lyrabee best of luck for your transfer today! Sending lots of positive vibes 🫶🏽

HopefulHead · 19/06/2023 08:50

@pixiemum2 Hi 👋🏼
Your won the same kind of timeline as the rest of us then 🥰 will be lovely having another to go through it with 😃

How are you feeling on stims? Hopefully those 6 follicles will each contain a nice healthy egg for you 🤞🏼

pixiemum2 · 19/06/2023 09:15

Thanks @HopefulHead it's really comforting to share this journey with each other, so glad I found this chat. So far I'm feeling ok, a bit of bloating and fatigue but no other big symptoms. Scan this morning showed 2 follicles have grown but still some way to go. Hopefully there's time for the smaller ones to catch up. Sending positive vibes to all of you!

Sqiggle85 · 19/06/2023 09:47

Welcome @pixiemum2. Glad your feeling ok on stims, and hope those follicles keep growing! 🤞🏻

Good luck today @Lyrabee for your transfer today. Sending all the sticky baby dust thoughts your way! ✨

@KG1244 excited you have your transfer date! Good luck for Friday.

@HopefulHead fingers crossed for ovulation when you need it.

I had my day 12 scan today and everything is looking good, “lining looking chunky” was the professional opinion 😂.

Just waiting for a call from the clinic for a transfer date and when I need to start pessaries. I’ve only ever done them up the front, on the instructions for mine it says if used for assistive reproduction to insert vaginal.

KG1244 · 19/06/2023 10:02

@Sqiggle85 thank you! Pessaries are ruining my underwear 😂

hope you hear from the clinic soon. Keep us posted xx

HopefulHead · 19/06/2023 10:35

It’s all heating up on this thread over the next week isn’t it 😃 so exciting to follow all your journeys 🥰
