IVF/ICSI/FET May 2023

Hi, I don't think there's a thread for May, not that I could find anyway.

I've just started Norethisterone to bring on AF ready for my FET. I had my ICSI cycle in Feb but was high risk for OHSS, so after retrieving 24 eggs, this clinic decided to freeze all.
Luckily, because I ended up very unwell with OHSS for around 6 weeks and ended up in hospital for a little while!

But I've recovered and soooo ready for my embabies! We're aiming for transfer week commencing 22nd May unless AF comes earlier than planned then it might be the week before. It's likely as I'm on CD46 with all the signs of imminent AF 🤞🏼

@LittleWeed82 that's great! Hopefully they'll all keep the momentum. You're fortunate to get a day 2 call too, I thought that only did days 1 and 3.

I'm starting to really feel the hormones now! I'm sooo tired, feel a bit meh and needy and my abdomen is starting to feel uncomfortable.
Have a spa day booked tomorrow, so that'll perk me up I'm sure ☺️

@Sunflower360 I am on short protocol but yes it's been a long time on stims! I was on 150iu then they put it up to 225iu and now it's back to 150iu. I am hoping the scan tomorrow shows I am ready to go. 🤞

@MBiss89 that's great results 👏👏 you must be over the moon. Did you do anything differently for this cycle?

I had my baseline scan after down regulating last Wednesday and due for 1st follicle tracking scan tomorrow. I had 12 very small follicles. Can anyone remember follicle sizes at baseline if u did down reg?

@hereshoping123 I did down reg, but I have PCOS so I had lots of little follicles. They told me they don't count them in PCOS because there'll always be a lot. Not much help, sorry.

Thanks @Sj2505. Out of my 12 follicles 7 are growing nicely between 8-12mm, the rest are still babies 4mm only so they prob won't catch up before egg collection next Thursday, although stranger things have happened x

Scan not so good today. Only 4 follicles are the right size then 6 are 12mm. They are discussing whether to keep me stimming for egg collection on Monday 😩 or whether to trigger and do this Friday. Feeling a bit rubbish that out of my 27 follicles I might only get 4 eggs if I am lucky.

made it through mine - got 8 eggs and anxiously waiting the call tomorrow to see if any/how many fertilised. I was worried when I first came round as I had 21 follicles going in so clearly many of them didn’t have eggs in, but hopefully some of the 8 are good 👍🏼

oh and the drug they gave me just before they sedated me was so lush 😳

Good morning! Trigger done yesterday, just waiting for the egg collection tomorrow. A bit worries about developing OHSS at this point. Hope everything goes well.

Had my day 3 call today. All 6 that fertilised normally are still looking good apparently. They said they may or may not call tomorrow to update but if any still look good they're aiming for transfer Saturday. The dodgy 7th one is apparently still going but isn't normal so I imagine that one will give up soon enough.

Wondering if it was okay to join in? I am currently in my 2nd cycle of ICSI and due for egg collection tomorrow morning! Super excited and hopeful for this time round 😁

Looks like quite a few of us triggered last night! I find it so nerve wracking worried I don't get it right!

Yesterday was a bit of rollercoaster as they had said I may need to do freeze-all as I have quite a lot of follicles this time round but luckily my oestrogen levels were okay so I managed to take ovitrelle trigger and I'm hopeful for a fresh transfer 🙏

How is everyone feeling? I was starting to feel pretty rubbish with the stimulation drugs but this morning I'm actually not too bad apart from sore ovaries and bloating! So relieved I'm not as nauseous!

How much pain does egg retrieval cause? I will be sedated but not asleep. Just read a horror story on another thread and am now worried.

I think you are pretty much asleep. It's not a full general anaesthetic in that you breathe for yourself I believe. But I remember nothing after the anaesthetist said have a nice sleep then I woke up in recovery. Maybe other clinics do it differently but I've had 4 egg collections now at 2 different clinics and remember nothing from any of them. I didn't even need any pain killers after I got home for any of them.

@MMMarmite Is it a deep sedation you're having?

I think my clinic is different @LittleWeed82 its sedation, not fully asleep.

@MMMarmite Mine was called sedation too and I was definitely asleep as I don't remember a thing.

Mine was classed as sedation as well. So the consent forms I signed said sedation. With a general anaesthetic they have to intubate you to breathe for you. Heavy sedation you can breathe yourself. Which is what I had. But I remember nothing. It felt exactly the same to me as having a general. Just minus the sore throat from having a tube down to breathe.

@MMMarmite After my egg retrieval I had no pain at all. In fact, I actually woke up feeling better than I did beforehand. I felt like i'd had a lovely sleep.

I just spoke to them, apparently they use lorazepam and various pain reliefs including gas and air, so I will be awake but relaxed, hopefully. 😬

Seems very different between clinics.

My clinic use sedation and pain killers. My first egg collection I didn't feel or remember a thing it was great!

My second one I felt everything and they shoved gas and air in my mouth. I feel like they messed up the amount of sedation or something. I think I was even squirming and made it difficult for them to get all the follicles!

Hopefully this final round it will be just like the first one 😅
