Hi all,

I'm about to start my first IVF ICSI cycle. I expect to start my stims next week and all being well will have a fresh transfer in April.

Looking for buddies to come on this journey with me.

@Jx3303 that's okay. Thank you for taking the time to reply and for being here to listen. It helps just to be able to talk to you wonderful ladies about it all. It's hard, but I'll be okay. Just so typical it had to fall today isn't it. Life can be cruel. Xx

Oh @charja100 I'm so sorry! I thought you couldn't even get your period with the drugs? Or were you doing it without any pessaries/pills?

magh333 · 26/04/2023 10:30

Hello all. Yesterday started AF. Today blood test hcg < 5, negative. IVF 1st attempt failed. I will try again in December. Left 2 more embryos in the freezer.

Wish everyone all the best ya!

magh333 · 26/04/2023 10:32

@charja100 sorry to hear that too. My AF started last night too. Today super heavy. Wish you all the best my dear! I'm gonna do next round in December. Left 2 more embryos.

Bims2019 · 26/04/2023 12:38

@charja100 just caught up on messages and I'm so sorry. Really hope the nurse is able to provide some answers, thinking of you ❤️

Flowerlover010 · 26/04/2023 13:09

@charja100 so so sorry what you are going through. I dont know if this helps at all but ive heard of so many genuine stories where the' best 'embryo hasnt worked but the ones that arent as good have. Wish u lots of strength x

VioletCookie · 26/04/2023 19:26

Thank you @Flowerlover010 @charja100 @Carly05 @Jx3303 for your kind responses, I've genuinely missed you all and the group support so much! I've just struggled with energy and motivation... Thank you for being understanding 🥰

@charja100 I'm so sorry you're going through this and on hubby's bday of all days! Not that any other day would be easier. I don't know what to say to take the sadness away, but know that we're all here for you as and when you need us. I second @Flowerlover010 in that not always the best embryo grading is the one that sticks! The grading doesn't confirm what the DNA is like so you could have a perfect frostie just waiting to implant 🙏🏼 sending you a massive virtual hug and @magh333 I'm so sorry for your news also xx

@Flowerlover010 when will you be doing the PGT-A? X

@Carly05 I'm working as its the only thing keeping me sane 😅 we've booked a UK weekend away next month to keep us occupied during the PGT-A wait! Cheap and cheerful but im genuinly feeling excited which I haven't felt for a while. I've been thinking about you and hoping you're OK, I'm sorry you're feeling sad and wish we could make this easier for you. Have you thought about next steps or is it too soon? Xx

Flowerlover010 · 26/04/2023 19:52

@VioletCookie thats exactly it. Ive heard of some pgta stories too where the best embryo is actually the abnormal one and the not so good ones being normal! So i think the grading is definitely not always something to go by. Im not doing my egg collection with pgta until around 1st june so im still a way off. The wait is agonising but i am starting with my first drug tomorrow and blood thinning injections so at least im starting something!

VioletCookie · 26/04/2023 21:17

@Flowerlover010 I had the blood thinners too! How come you're starting them early on? Good luck for your jabs tomorrow! I don't think we'll be doing a transfer until July with the wait and when my cycles fall 😫 everything is so long isn't it when timed around AF! Xx

Carly05 · 26/04/2023 21:25

Hi @VioletCookie yes it definitely helps to have something to look forward to.😊take Ur mind off the PGTA testing too. We are off to Spain in few weeks and I can't wait for some time away from everything.
Yes I'm Already looking into next steps as I'm 42 in 6 months so stressing out.... Called create Wimbledon today to discuss mild IVF ....but had bad experience with person I spoke to ☹️ so decided not to go with them.
Anyone had experience with CARE Fertility Woking or Wessex Southhampton pls?
Xx

Flowerlover010 · 26/04/2023 22:00

@VioletCookie after my 2nd miscarriage i discovered from blood tests that i have factor 5 leiden (which i had no clue about whatsoever) so im slightly higher risk for blood clotting and the Norethisterone which they are using to delay my period is a no no for anyone with blood clotting conditions so to cover that im injecting alongside it. There isnt any other option really if they want to plan my egg collection for pgta appointment when they are limited on the appointments. Its crazy really because i was on the pill for nearly 20 years no problem at all but im not even allowed that now we know this!!

VioletCookie · 27/04/2023 11:44

@Carly05 Spain sounds fab! I hope you manage to relax and have some fun. Overall, I'd say Create have been very good, we use St Paul's and London Colney. What happened when you spoke with them? The only issues we've had is the admin side of it, waiting for calls back from our coordinator and having to chase her non stop. We put a complaint in and have the managers number now so we just msg her and it gets done. In our experience the Dr's and nurses have been incredible! X

@Flowerlover010 a lady at work has factor 5 leaden, she then did IVF and went on to have a successful pregnancy so I'll hope this works for you🤞🏼 don't get me started on the pill, I was on it for about 15 years and didn't realise how messed up my hormones were until I came off it 🙈 I was on Cilest for the last few years, had bad depression and mood swings. When I came off it, it was like a weight had gone, really affected me! X

Ksangha · 27/04/2023 20:14

had my egg collection today, 8 eggs, they were expecting 10-12 🙁
iv got to start the progesterone suppositories one twice a day, they advise rectally, any advise? Does it tend to leak throughout the day ( sorry if TMI)

Bims2019 · 27/04/2023 20:45

Hi @Ksangha, hope you're feeling ok about your egg collection. 8 eggs is still a good number, and as many lovely people have mentioned to me it only takes one! I only have experience of progesterone pessaries, which I find leak more when first inserted then perhaps a little during the rest of day. I wore a thin pad at first but then decided I didn't really need it, so maybe see how it goes?

I hope it's ok to update as I know people are at various stages and some have had a difficult week. I had my blood test yesterday and it was good news, so am booked in for an early scan in 3 weeks time to see how things are going. It's going to be a nerve wracking time until then and I've never had a positive test before, but feeling cautiously optimistic for now. For anyone worrying about low numbers, I only had 3 eggs collected and of those only 1 fertilised, which was transferred back in at day 3. So it really does only take 1! And if it's not the right one this time, hopefully the lucky embryo is just around the corner.

Wishing everyone success on their journeys, I'll probably still lurk here to see how you're getting on and I honestly hope you all get good news soon ♥️

Ksangha · 27/04/2023 20:46

@Bims2019 ohhh that’s amazing news! So happy for you! And yes I have to remember it’s not all
About numbers!

Flowerlover010 · 27/04/2023 20:49

@Bims2019 thats absolutely amazing news! Hope all goes smoothly for you x

April623 · 27/04/2023 21:49

@Bims2019 Congratulations on your lovely news, hope everything goes smoothly for you 😊

@Ksangha It really isn't about the numbers. I had 11 eggs and ended up with just the one embryo whilst many people have less eggs and more embryos. Fingers crossed for you and hope you feel ok after the procedure.

Also I am using the progesterone rectally and there is no leakage. After transfer I tried it vaginally once and there was a fair amount of mess! My clinic doesn't advise vaginal use before transfer in case of irritation.

girljulian · 27/04/2023 22:36

@Bims2019 that’s such fantastic news! Huge congratulations!

Flowerlover010 · 28/04/2023 05:54

@April623 that is really interesting info re the progesterone. I havent started yet but there seems to be a big difference in opinion about inserting them at the front or the back! My worry about front is exactly that irritation or even thrush! My worry about the back is how easy it is to do! Some clinics seem to be advising front, others back!

April623 · 28/04/2023 10:35

@Flowerlover010 I was horrified when they told me to do it! But when they explained why I resigned myself to it and it's absolutely fine. You get used to it very quickly. I can alternate now that I've had my transfer if I want to.

MRSLMF · 28/04/2023 18:05

Hey guys,
Just had a catch up
@VioletCookie so sorry you've been having a hard time
@charja100 it's so hard when AF arrives before OTD.
My AF arrived Tuesday and OTD today and of course negative!
We had a poor egg collection (2 embryos) transferred a fresh Jan which failed and then this FET failed so back to egg collection in the summer!
We have unexplained infertility and have a few months waiting for appts etc before do another egg collection so we are toying with the idea of home artificial insemination on ovulation day to increase our chances of pregnancy while awaiting to start further IVF treatment. I think this will help me mentally keep positive over the next few months!
Anyone have any experience of this or thoughts?

Flowerlover010 · 29/04/2023 06:07

@MRSLMF so sorry it hasnt worked for you. I dont have any experience of IUI but it doesnt sound like a bad idea in terms of making you feel like you are doing something in the wait which i can totally relate to. Its good to have forward-thinking isnt it.

charja100 · 29/04/2023 10:23

Hello ladies. Sorry I dipped out for a couple of days I needed to create some space from this journey to re-set my mindset. I feel back to myself now. Clinic asked me to go in for a Beta test on Thursday which I did which confirmed negative test result and end of this cycle. Have an appointment booked for a coupon go weeks to meet the consultant and work out the next plan. I just want go get on with the next FET now. I'm so grateful we have a frozen to go back to

@MRSLMF I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It's not fair. I think if you feel IUI might help then go for it! I'm personally not sure how that would increase over normal sex? We're male factor and was recommended ICSI so I haven't explored other options as pretty sure they wouldn't work for us. Happy to talk this through with you though if you think it will help.

Congratulations @Bims2019 your story gives me hope.

@Ksangha how are you getting on with pessaries? What did you go for in the end? My clinic said there really don't much difference between the two. You can get irritation vaginally and can cause more mess. They also recommend that if you do vaginally that you lay down for at least 30 mins afterwards to ensure that you are able to absorb all the progesterone. For that reason I think a lot of people chose rectally. My nurse said that's the beauty of cyclogest. Some of the other suppositories have to be inserted vaginally only.

@Flowerlover010 that's crazy that you were on the pill all that time and had your condition without knowing! How are hand and blood thinners going?

@VioletCookie @Jx3303 and @lemons44 thank you so much for you kind words when I really needed them. You'll never know how much they helped me through a dark few days.

@magh333 I hope you're okay, I know I sometime space helps, but know we're here if you need us when you're ready.

@April623 how are you getting on in your TWW?

@Carly05 have you made any more progress with changing clinics?

Flowerlover010 · 29/04/2023 12:00

@charja100 do you know how long you have to wait to be able to go ahead with the FET? Hope its not too much waiting for you!
Jabs are going ok i use an ice pack which has turned out essential for me psychologically and apparently it also helps with bruising which i need as little of as possible since i have to do so many! Yesterdays one didnt bruise at all but the first one i have a little bruise. I managed to stab my finger with one and bend the needle getting the lid off! All learning curves, kind of glad im having to do these now as its practise for me for the stims! I'll be a pro by the time i finally get to them!

April623 · 29/04/2023 12:52

Hi @charja100 I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, I expect it helps to have something to aim towards with your appointment booked in. I hope you can move forward with the FET soon.

I have been silly and was testing to check I was clear of the trigger shot. Had faint lines on days 1-2dpt then almost clear on 3dpt. All of a sudden yesterday (4dp5dt) I was expecting it to be fully negative but I had a clear positive line. Today it's negative albeit on a different type of test. So I don't know what to think now 🤦🏻‍♀️ Should have just waited probably!
