Hi all 👋
just wondering if anyone had been to James cook hospital for IVF treatment and wondering how long the waiting list is right now ?

Hey! In middlesborough??? I was referred in January and got my appointment for initially mid March, but it was cancelled and move to the end of the March due to consultants being off x

Jojo922 · 19/03/2023 08:58

Hi, yeah the one in Middlesbrough oh that's fast I thought it would have been a lot longer to wait me and my partner have just been referred beginning of March. We where just wondering on waiting times it's torture the not knowing and I'm so impatient haha. Thankyou for your reply and please keep me updated.

Hey!

I noticed this thread as I'm considering choosing James Cook in Middlesbrough for our fertility treatment. Would anyone be kind enough to share their experiences? Good, bad, would recommend? There doesn't seem to be many reviews online about the fertility clinic there.

Thanks

@Armandi110 hi. I’ve had ivf at James cook recently and all the nurses were amazing and lovely and put me at ease. Everything was explained to me throughout. It all seemed well organised and I don’t have anything bad to say.

Hi @beehappy19 - thank you so much for the valuable information - this is super helpful to know! I'm so glad that you had a positive experience.

Would you be kind enough to share roughly how long you waited from referral to first appointment, and then from first appointment to treatment?

The receptionist (who was very friendly and helpful) said it would be around 1-2 months until first appointment and then 1-2 months from then until treatment - which seems excellent (and almost too good to be true, with Newcastle quoting 7-8 months wait time just for the first appointment 😮).

Wishing you the best of luck X

beehappy19 · 12/09/2023 20:09

@Armandi110 yes it was about that. It all seemed to happen very quickly and from signing the consent forms to me starting treatment was 2 months. I didn’t expect it to be that quick!

Armandi110 · 16/09/2023 19:26

Thanks @beehappy19 , that's really promising and so good to know!

beehappy19 · 16/09/2023 19:42

@Armandi110 Good luck with it all xx

Armandi110 · 16/09/2023 20:10

@beehappy19 thanks, you too 😊 xxx

@Jojo922 Hi, how you getting on??

My journey came to a halt after a couple of appointments. My endometriosis means I need both of my fallopian tubes removed & the waiting list is super long.

Its taken me about 5 months to get on the waiting list & the earliest I can expect the surgery is March next year (but even that is unlikely).

Hope you’ve had better progress than me ❤️

@Sjaynexo hi sorry it's took me a while to reply I'm so sorry to hear about all your delays, I had a similar problem had to have both my tubes removed in February before being referred for IVF, when will you find out a date ? Hopefully soon nothing worse than waiting for that letter in the post, mine has been delayed again we had our appointment to go to the clinic to get all of our medication and dates booked in for the actual IVF then had abit of a set back as they had found abnormal pre cancerous cells on my cervix so now have to wait 5 months before we can get the ball rolling again 😫 x

Oh my goodness I’m so sorry. @Jojo922 How are you doing? How did you find the surgery and recovery?

I’m sorry to hear about your cells too! Did they have to be removed? It sounds like you’ve had a lot on!! Xx

Jojo922 · 11/10/2023 16:35

@Sjaynexo the surgery was fine just key hole day surgery and I was back up on my feet a few days after just took it easy for a few weeks after think the hardest part for me was the injections after. I've just had the loop excision to remove the cells so that's why we now have to wait 5 months for everything to heal then have more tests hopefully everything comes back clear and can get the ball rolling again in January at James cook x

What injections did you need to have afterwards? I’m not too nervous about the surgery, but I’m very nervous about how I’ll cope with ivf!!! X

Jojo922 · 11/10/2023 21:03

It's injections to prevent blood clots but I'm not good with needles so my partner did mine for me for 5 days after my op, I felt the same last year the panic was unbelievable but once I had my first appointment at James cook it helped to calm some of my nerves and stress they explained everything and where so lovely on every appointment

Morning, I seen this post and hoped you could help.

I am at JCH too. We had out top of the waiting list appointment in october and we now have an appointment on 9th Jan to book in dates. I'm not sure if you can shed any light on what happens on that telephone appointment and how long after you started trearment following it.

Ofc if you haven't started treatment yet and in the same boat would be nice to speak to someone throughout the process. We are going on long protocol.

Thanks in advance 😊

Jojo922 · 02/01/2024 15:08

@Rebeckah hi sorry I'm still waiting for my phone call appointment I've had a few delays through it all and it's been put off for a few months now so hopefully get back on track for this month so any information you could give would be very great full , I'm also going on long protocol x

OP posts:
Rebeckah · 02/01/2024 20:02

@Jojo922 Oh we were delayed too due to some tests and scans they needed to run.

I have my appointment on tuesday so I will update you with anything I find out.

Its just need to speak to someone who is at the same clinic 😊

Jojo922 · 03/01/2024 16:26

@Rebeckah it is nice to be able to talk to people going through the same. sometimes it's hard explaining to family and only getting " it will all work out in the end" conversation haha, well I've had my phone call today what I wasn't expecting and it was just giving us dates and explanations of when to expect egg retrieval and egg transfer, so after my phone call today I have to phone them on the first day of my next cycle then they will make me an appointment to see the nurse for meds and scan dates.

Rebeckah · 03/01/2024 17:22

@jojo928 Wow, that was quick! I'm glad you are finally moving. So you will be starting hopefully this month, I guess. That's exciting!

I get it all the time it "You might fall natually. You never know." No, I do know as we literally need IVF (ICSI) to have a child.

Hopefully my telephone appointment is as straightforward as yours seems. Good luck! 😊

Rebeckah · 03/01/2024 17:22

@jojo922

Jojo922 · 08/01/2024 16:28

@Rebeckah hello sorry for my late reply been hectic, and I'm just waiting for the first day of my cycle to start hopefully this week then need to phone them, good luck for your appointment tomorrow hopefully you will get all your questions answered.

OP posts:
Rebeckah · 08/01/2024 16:35

@jojo922 Oh fingers crossed for this week. My first day would be 24th Jan. So will look like we are 2 weeks apart.

I will have all my fingers and toes crossed for you. I've started to take vitamins D and focil acid now too every little helps.

🤞🤞🤞

Rebeckah · 09/01/2024 14:16

@jojo922

We had the telephone call today. I have to ring on the first day of my period, which is 24th Jan.
I will then go in for a blood test (1-4) they will then book an appointment for both of us to teach us how to do the injections, order the meds, and sign the final forms. They will advise us when to start taking the meds following the blood results.

We will then have scans for two weeks on mon, wed, and Fri from w/c on the 26th Feb, and the egg collection will be w/c 11th March, with egg transfer being the week after, hopefully.

It's so quick. I'm not sure how much information you got, but I hope this helps. Long protocol, too.

Jojo922 · 09/01/2024 14:23

@Rebeckah oh it's all go ! Yeah I didn't get that much info but my schedule date is for the 4th March, the excitement gets to me and I get overwhelmed and forget my questions I need to ask but I'm so glad I've got someone to talk to through it all and our treatment plans are so close together.
