Yes… what’s the Mac Donald’s fries about?
@Lyrabee how did it go yesterday?
Sending positive thoughts 💭
@Katie12444 and @Irisjj thinking of you both too, hope all continues to go smoothly.
I’m so hoping to have a transfer after my next period has come and I can start getting prepped.
Hope everyone is doing ok. I had the egg collection last week and we got 24 eggs, 20 were mature (that’s double the mature eggs we got last time)
Of those 20 eggs, 5 fertilised (we have sperm issues)- that’s the best result we’ve had so far. I do find it really disheartening to know that I’m essentially sacrificing most of my healthy eggs for this process. Especially when it could be our last chance. I know that’s silly, but I feel so guilty for those tiny little eggs that never had a proper chance!
By day 3 all of the fertilised eggs (5) were growing well and they even saw a sixth egg trying to fertilise (didn’t progress)
Today is day 5 and they called to say that:
1 has stopped growing (statistically we knew this was likely)
3 have reached very early blastocyst stage
1 has developed beyond early blastocyst stage and has fully expanded but is not quite ready for biopsy as there aren’t enough cells yet (they think tomorrow morning it will be ready)
We are so grateful that (if all progresses as they expect) we will have one to biopsy tomorrow.
But we were really hoping for a day 5 embryo (for it to be ready for biopsy and freeze today)… not day 6 (all our day 6 embryos have either been genetically abnormal, mosaic or (even when genetically viable) have resulted in miscarriage).
The only time we have had success is with a day 5 embryo.
We were so happy with the 20 eggs result… and getting more to fertilise… and I know day 6 embryos can work but it all feels a bit worrying again.
Clinic are hoping to biopsy the one that’s growing well plus (fingers crossed!) another couple from the 3 slower growing embryos tomorrow.
anyone have any positive experiences of transferring day 6 embryos? Or any thoughts?
The waiting is driving me to distraction today.
hope you’re all ok!
