FET/IVF - January 2023

Hey

I would love to get a group together of some of us who are undergoing IVF or FETs in Jan. I found it really helpful to have the support of those going through similar last time (Nov 2020).

My story: I am due to start my first FET in January of my one and only frozen embryo. The embryo is from a cycle in Nov 2020 when I was almost 36. I have low AMH and AFC and it was my first and only NHS round. I got 4 eggs all which miraculously fertilised, 1 made it to day 5 and was put back in with a fresh transfer. Sadly it did not stick. 1 egg was left until day 6 and it finally made it to blastocyst. It has been frozen. Rather than having a FET back then they advised me to do a banking package of 3 cycles due to my low AMH/AFC so in Jan 2021 we started our first private IVF cycle with the same clinic (Kings). Once again I was on max stims (gonal f and menopur) and it looked like we would get 4 eggs again but when I woke from EC they told me they only got 2. I had a bit of a breakdown. I was so upset going through all that including over £2k worth of drugs injected to only get two eggs. It felt even worse as I had let myself hope it would go well. Out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised normally. On day 3 the embryologist told me it was average quality and she wasn't sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 if it even made it that far. I couldn't handle the thought of going through all that mental anguish to not have anything to freeze so I made a last minute decision to go in for a day 3 fresh transfer. I had zero expectations but somehow that average embryo stuck. I was so stressed all pregnancy and worried about everything but amazingly I gave birth to my first baby in Sep 2021. He is now 14 months and I am turning 38 in 2 weeks.

Now it is time to get back on the IVF/FET train. I have been for my initial scan and blood tests. The scan was fine. Still not many follicles but not significantly worse. Waiting for a consult with the Dr next week for an update on my AMH (can't wait.... ) where she'll also decide on our protocol. I am leaning towards a medicated FET just so we can plan it a bit better. If that doesn't work then it is back to a 3 cycle package of IVF.

I hope I haven't bored anyone reading this to tears. Would be great if anyone else out there would like to be a cycle buddy? :-)

Yay @Frosty91 buzzing for you! I just had to go to the chemist to buy some more asprin and I could see the pregnancy tests out of the corner of my eye - took all my strength to walk on past! I’ve ordered some to arrive tomorrow so plan on using Monday morning on day 7. Can’t believe I’ve held out !!

@countrypunk - hopefully it’s the embryo getting comfy and digging in!

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 12:32

@acaciabluebell I have been trying to take the picture. But it's just not showing on the picture. But me and my husband can both see it. I think when your body knows to test you just test. Also, my was a 6 day blastocyst 5BA. which means 6 days embryo on a 5 day transfer soo currently it would be around 10dpo. I am excited because of the symptoms and now the line. Sending postive vibes to everyone x

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 12:34

@JuliaIVF83 Thankyou. Well I had only ordered 4🙈 one digital and all 9thers 6 days early. So I'm hoping to test one every 2 3 days. Thankyou so much x good luck. I pray thus is a good month for all of us x

countrypunk · 28/01/2023 12:35

@acaciabluebell Hahaha, only because I got burnt testing early after my first transfer! It's so hard isn't it? I think just make sure you do what feels right for you.

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 12:35

@acaciabluebell it's the line which is there but really faint but you know something is there. X

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 12:42

@acaciabluebell I tested yesterday and got nothing that was 3dpt. Today morning around 6am I did which was 4dpt is where I got the faint line Hope that helps x

acaciabluebell · 28/01/2023 12:47

@Frosty91 Ah I didn't know yours was day 6! So it's a day ahead, which makes sense. Yes I totally get what you mean about faint lines that a don't show up on camera. So pleased for you 😁 will you continue to test daily or wait a bit?

@countrypunk that makes complete sense, for me this being my first transfer I'm defo a bit eager 🤣

countrypunk · 28/01/2023 13:01

@JuliaIVF83 Oh I hope so too! It's taking a lot of willpower seeing all these positive early tests and not testing myself... I just know I'll feel crushed if it's negative and will keep obsessively testing, hoping for it to become positive. So I think for me it's best to wait till OTD. If I can 😬

@Frosty91 What exciting news, I know it's early but congratulations! There have been so many positive tests on this thread, I think it's a particularly lucky one ♥️

@acaciabluebell My only advice is if you do test early and it's negative, give it a few days before testing again. Some women don't get a BFP until their official test day (which is why clinics tell you to wait till then!).

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 13:04

@acaciabluebell thankyou so much. Its our first IVF too so I wasn't sure if it would work. I took so many pictures but it just doesn't show in the picture but Mt husband is 100% there is a line.

I'm 31 unexplained fertility. All my sisters have loads of babies Mt mother has 6 of us. But I'm a firm believer in God and have faith in him he is the best of planners and does eveything in good timing. Thankyou I will be keeping you in my prayers. Yes they froze 5 embryos one on day 3 and one on day 6 and 3 on day 5 the day 6 was yhe best quality so they decided they wanted to use that first.

I know everyone keeps saying sore boobs is because of progesterone but I never got no symptoms before transfer while using them. And I have zero symptoms on periods lol so for me these symptoms were all knew. I guess they say your body knows. But being out of breath was my main one. As I'm very active and never have been this out if breath so quickly.

Yday was 3dpt which I knew was early but tested anywhz. Today It was a faint and I'm hoping it will increase. Yes because normally I see loads of people saying at 10dpo they get a faint positive so for me the timing today would have been 10 dpo💕

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 13:07

@countrypunk thankyou so much. I think your body knows when to test and it being my first. I was prepared both ways. I have trust in God and believe eveything happens for a reason good or bad. And it being my first I wanted to test early and build up either on the excitement for myself and prepare myself either way 💕 praying for everyone hoping this is a good month for us all x

Hopefulfirstround · 28/01/2023 15:37

@countrypunk youre right to not have tested , I’m 14dp5dt And my line is way lighter today , looks like a chemical pregnancy , have to wait 2 days to get my Beta and honestly just want to curl up in bed and not bother going

Laura23FE · 28/01/2023 16:33

@AnnaPr1992 congratulations !!

We had our FET today, official test day will be the 10th feb, so nervous 😬

countrypunk · 28/01/2023 16:39

Oh @Hopefulfirstround I'm sorry. Maybe it was a slightly dud test, or your pee was more diluted? I totally understand about your beta test, but it will at least give you a definite answer. I hope someone is supporting you. I will keep everything crossed for you. Sending love x

RPF · 28/01/2023 16:39

Hey All.
It’s been a while since I posted because I didn’t want to think about it too much, being my 4th fresh round I just wanted to bury my head in the sand with it.
Had my egg collection on Monday. They got 6 eggs, 5 fertilised and on day 5 (today) we arrived for transfer and not a single one had made it to blastocyst. They ended up putting a compacted embryo and one that is in vitrification. No idea what any of it means and Google just seems to suggest that there is little hope. From what I can make out there is a 16% chance. But I’ve had grade A’s fail so who knows. Anyone else have a similar experience?

AnnaPr1992 · 28/01/2023 16:44

@Purrrrr congratulations that's exciting news 🥹🙏

I will pray to God everything to go well for you and who knows maybe our babies will be due the same day 🥰🤞♥️

AnnaPr1992 · 28/01/2023 16:47

@countrypunk @Laur0606 @Frosty91 @Laura23FE @JuliaIVF83 @Lauralozzle a huge thank youuuu to all of you my lovely friends 🥹 I send to all of you my love and my prayers ♥️🤞🙏

AnnaPr1992 · 28/01/2023 16:48

@Frosty91 what a lovely news my lovely 😊 I am soo soo happy for you 🎈 stick baby stick 🤞🙏

RPF · 28/01/2023 16:54

Not vitrification! The embryologist said another word but I can’t remember what it was now. But something like the stage before compaction. I really wish I could just find something that clearly explains what this means. Out of all my cycles, I have always had blastocysts but at varying qualities.

AnnaPr1992 · 28/01/2023 16:56

@Hopefulfirstround please keep us updated when you have your beta test and let's hope the baby is just playing tricks on you 🙏
Do you test first thing in the morning ? I am just asking coz it matters if it is the first morning urine or later on in the day - I have seen in my own tests a big difference in the line when I have drunk lot of fluids and etc...

AnnaPr1992 · 28/01/2023 16:59

@RPF iam so sorry you had such a rough day 🥺 I can imagine how hard has been for you
The only thing I can definitely from my experiences so far is that never give up your hopes things happens unexpectedly x
All of us here we are so strong and brave and special women and we definitely we will make it one day 🎈♥️

countrypunk · 28/01/2023 17:07

@RPF Was it maybe a cavitating morula? This is the stage just before blastocyst. Don't lose hope - I've read success stories from women who've had a morula transferred. And you've had two transferred - even better!

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 17:17

@AnnaPr1992 Thankyou for your kind words. I done a cheeky test this evening and its defo getting stronger 3dpt pm test. Fingers crossed. Thankyou again. Hope your well x

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 17:33

If your IVF clinic don't do bloods and just a 5 week scan. Has anyone asked there GP to do bloods?

AnnaPr1992 · 28/01/2023 17:40

@Frosty91 I did ask mine they are so difficult 🙄 but always depends on your surgery .. they said aww the bloods haven't been requested by us so we can't do private bloods 🙄

Frosty91 · 28/01/2023 17:44

@AnnaPr1992 My Doctor is really lovely I haven't never moved surgery since I was born lol. I will ask him towards the end of next week before I go back to work if I could get them done. Thankyou yes I know some cab get wierd and funny. Worth a try. If you done ask you don't get x
