December IVF

[Eggling]

Hi 👋 I can't see a thread for December IVF so thought I'd start one for those squeezing in treatment before the Christmas cut off.

Backstory from me: one toddler DD from previous IVF ICSI in 2020. Trying for baby 2, have lost our 3 frozen embryos from our first round over the last few months (2 failed FETs and one didn't survive thaw) so heading into a new round. Aiming for a fresh transfer if possible after a freeze all cycle last time due to OHSS risk so I'm starting on low dose bemfola 112.5. AF due next week so just waiting for my meds to arrive the back to being a pin cushion for the next few weeks!

@Brit22 thank you - I hope in the new year it works out for you - 2022 hasn’t been the best year.

Ah I have been vomiting, having cramps and unable to work today - going to the clinic tomorrow morning, hoping not OHSS but a reaction to the meds I’m on for it

@AM08 yes hopefully 2023 is a better year for me.

@Brit22 - I am so sorry to hear it. I was so so so hoping for you. Idk what else to say but that I'm sending big hugs, and when I was devastated Taylor Swift was my outlet. After crying enough it got me back to ready to try again. When your ready to chat, feel free to drop a line, let me know if you need a good sad or very happy song, a nice book recommendations or a movie to watch.

Update for me: fresh transfer supposed to be this Wednesday.

Egg retrieval went well, I was far more eloppy this times and had slightly more pain but less/no bleeding and last time I did. We got 10 eggs, only 7 usable, from the 7 only 4 made embryos. Now I'm sitting nevous as hell, hoping that there will be a really good one and maybe that we could freeze the others. I so don't want to do it all again. I will, frankly, but I just don't want to. I feel crazy on all the hormones. I'm take 3x a day vaginal progesterone and I feel like I'm having the weirdest hot flashes.

Idk how to combat the complete and utter panic/anxiety I feel about the other eggs. I'm just hoping it will pass by the time we are supposed to do a fresh transfer on Wednesday, because I was told being stressed at all will highten the failure rate (which is more stressful lol). Cross your fingers we get to that !

@22Mama thank you! Good luck for your update calls, fingers crossed you get one to implant and something for the freezer. Me and DH were talking yesterday about how difficult this whole thing is so totally get what you mean about restarting the process.

i am getting my check up today to see why I’m feeling so ill and our day 5 embryo call, on Sunday which was day 3 they said all 7 were still looking good and we’d hear the final grading today before freezing and then doing a transfer next month so fingers crossed 🙏

@22Mama I'm on the progesterone as well, the first few days sent me a bit crazy, lost the plot, I was annoyed at EVERYTHING my partner was doing 😂. I think it's balanced out a bit now cause I feel much better. I have been trying a bit of meditation to relieve the stress, it's not usually my bag, but it feels like it's working.

@AM08 hope everything goes OK with your checkup x

I'm struggling with the wait, counting down the days. I've got a couple of early tests in the cupboard which I'm trying to wait until the weekend to do...but it's hard, it's all I can think about!

@LuC22 thank you, ah the wait must be agonising, so much googling and reading into symptoms - stay strong, you have done so so well to get to this part of the process - have you got some nice festive plans to distract you?

The clinic said that they just need to keep a close eye on me, and to keep drinking fluids and eating high protein- feeling pretty rubbish physically

We did have some rather wonderful news from the embryologist team today - 6 out of 7 of our day 5 embryos are graded excellent or very good and have been frozen, they are going to keep an eye out on the last one too to see if it develops, obviously it’s not a final result and we have to wait until next month to transfer but need to try and celebrate the good moments of this process

@AM08 oh wow thats amazing news on the embryos, definitely worth celebrating! I bet next year cant come soon enough for you now. Hope you're able to take it easy now and get yourself better x

I am lying low this week. Seems like everyone i know is ill so I'm trying to avoid mixing with people. I was supposed to be at my works Christmas party on Thursday but decided it's probably not for the best. To be honest, I'm enjoying just sitting in and watching Christmas films 😂

@LuC22 thank you, me and DH are feeling pretty relieved that we have some frosties in the bank even if we have to wait for next year to transfer, makes things feel a bit more real

Your plan sounds completely sensible, there are so many illnesses flying around this year and if you can avoid them you deffo should - Christmas movies and being cosy sounds perfect ✨

Hi all - some good news from you on the embryos on ice - that’s great!

Update here: we had the transfer this afternoon. Some good and bad news. The embryologist said embryo had 80% of surviving cells so that's good (they need more than 50%) but after 2 hours of thawing it hadn't started to expand which it should have started to do.

They said it basically means a 10-15% success rate but was definitely worth trying as they have many conversations like this that have a positive outcome.

Official test date is Christmas Eve so 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Further update - progesterone levels are 71 and they need it to be 75. Will expect a call from the clinic tomorrow to adjust it.

@TheGlitterFairy ah congratulations on the transfer!! Sounds like your clinic know what they are doing - it’s great your getting such good care!

Fingers crossed you get an early Xmas pressie on Christmas eve or otherwise in the worst case you can drink lots of bubbles!

Have been in contact with consultant this eve and we’re to do daily injections and pessaries as it needs to be higher. Good to have a plan.

I have missed so much in the thread. Sorry ladies. I'm so nervous. Writing this on my way to work this morning. Have my transfer and then home. Nervous actually doesn't seem to catch how I am feeling. We will also find out about theb4 embryos if we can freeze any if we are transferring 1 or 2 depending on quality etc. (Planned 1) so girls just cross your fingers for me. I have never gotten this far, and I feel like I'm gonna pass out lol 😂. Trying to stay calm is very very very hard.

I got my email reminder from Create this morning that my official test date is in 5 days 😬. God the days are draaaaaaaging 😂

Transfer went great. Fast and easy! I got to see it in the walls! They said no blood and only mucus so that's a good sign.

They also told me the eggs (all 4) look good. 3 will be frozen and the last one was a 5AA. She didn't think I'd get such a good score after having total fertilization failure of all 19 last time. But she said the quality was super good this time. So I'm couldn't be more happy. I'm drinking so much water and just hoping to goodness it sticks !

When I'm home I'm gonna go back and read what is up with everyone!

Morning! I had my transfer on Tuesday a 4AA embryo but I really don’t feel like it’s stuck I have 0 symptoms and feel no different even with taking progesterone 😩🙁 I’m loosing hope.

how are you doing?

@ZAMichelin1991 I dont have any symptoms either, my transfer was Thursday. Not everyone gets any symptoms so early on though! I usually spot a tiny bit between periods but haven't this time, I wonder if thats the progesterone. When are you going to test??

@LuC22 I know trying so hard to stay positive but just wish there was a little sign. I’ve been having a small amount of cramping but it really just feels like period cramping and I’m not sure if my period can come while I’m on progesterone or if it will stop it until I’m not pregnant and stop taking it?
My husband really doesn’t want us to test early but I have 4 tests excluding the 2 from the clinic so I did think I might do one each day from Tuesday 🙈 what about you? Xx

@ZAMichelin1991 sorry, should've said my transfer was last Thursday. I'm losing track of the days haha. I'm going to do a test tomorrow, I've pretty much convinced myself it won't happen first time round, but my blood test is Monday so want to prepare myself for a negative result

@ZAMichelin1991 @LuC22 it’s so hard the waiting isn’t it. Good luck with your test tomorrow - I’m going to try and hold out. Already want to do one and totally pointless as only 3dp5dt 😂🙈

symptom spotting and trying not to. Think my boobs feel a bit different but hard to know for sure and could always just be the the progesterone. One week to go 🤞

So I did a test this morning at 9dp5dt and it was positive! 🥲 We are still in shock. Hopefully it sticks 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
