Hello all, hoping to find some buddies on letrozole or clomid.

My history:
33yrs old, TTC #1 for 2.5 years.
Conceived once in Sept 2020 but fetus died at 11 weeks, MMC at 12 week scan and had ERPC surgery. No cause found (all tests apart from genetics done).
Assessments - AMH, bloods, semen analysis, hycosy, scans X3.
Results - v high AMH, not ovulating alone, tubes are clear, not quite enough cysts to get a PCOS diagnosis, DH semen is great.

Journey with letrozole (since Feb 2022):
2.5mg didn't work
5mg worked for a single cycle (ovulated) then didn't work
Now waiting out one natural cycle (CD35 and nothing happening) then will start 7.5mg

Also trying to lose a little weight to support fertility, stay in range for IVF

@ClubSandwich CD16 today. Had scans at day 12 and day 14. They estimate it could me middle of this week or later before I can get a trigger shot.

Sorry to hear AF arrived. It is just devastating. Hope you have support to get you through the day.

Hedgehugs · 17/10/2022 19:25

Jumping back on here. Had my hycosy today and while it wasn’t the nicest experience it’s out of the way now and we can move on with our journey. Next week we have our nurse planning appointment and next cycle we will be starting letrozole. So have come back here to see how everyone else is getting on?!

QueenBee22 · 17/10/2022 20:30

@Hedgehugs did you need sedation for the hycosy? Was it very painful? I will be having it done after Christmas if clomid hasn't worked by then.

Hedgehugs · 18/10/2022 18:51

@QueenBee22 no sedation. Ibuprofen 30 mins before and antibiotics to take after. It felt a little uncomfortable and crampy but it was honestly ok. I had got myself into a bit of a tizz after reading other peoples bad experiences, but you just have to remember that just because it was like that for them doesn’t mean it will be like that for you!! I was also still on my period when I had it done which sent my anxiety into overdrive but it was over in minutes. Mine was planned to be done before starting letrozole so atleast can move on knowing there’s no blockages and giving my body the best chance. How many cycles of clomid have you had/ are you having? Let me know how you get on!

QueenBee22 · 18/10/2022 20:03

@Hedgehugs thanks for sharing your experience-hopefully I will have similar to you. I am currently on my second round of clomid. My consultant wants me to do three rounds and then the hycosy if needed. It does sound better to do the hycosy first but they felt my tubes were unlikely to be blocked as I already have one child. I am currently waiting for the follicle to grow big enough to give the trigger injection which should hopefully be this week.

Best of luck with the letrozole, are you starting soon?

Hedgehugs · 18/10/2022 21:53

@QueenBee22 ah that makes sense then. We have our appointment to discuss the plan on Monday, we have picked up the prescription so next cycle (beginning of November) we should be able to start!! Fingers crossed for both of us eh!!

QueenBee22 · 20/10/2022 20:12

@Hedgehugs

Thanks, I am getting my trigger shot tomorrow so fingers crossed for this cycle.

Best of luck with your appointment on Monday. Hopefully you will have a definite plan then.

QueenBee22 · 22/10/2022 10:38

@septembersapphire7 @ClubSandwich

How are you doing ladies? Hope all is going okay.

Hope everyone is well and fingers crossed for this month!

septembersapphire7 · 22/10/2022 11:09

good morning @QueenBee22
i’m currently day 14 cycle 2 in Letrozole and waiting to see if I ovulate. Been very good with my diet and exercise this month and have managed to lose some weight so let’s see if that makes an impact. Best of luck with your trigger shot!

@Hedgehugs hope the first appointment goes well for you on Monday too. It really helps to have a plan when things have been unclear for ages.

fingers crossed for some good news soon 🤞🏽😊

QueenBee22 · 22/10/2022 13:30

@septembersapphire7 fingers crossed you will ovulate this cycle. I had the trigger shot yesterday so a waiting game now. Well done on losing weight, I find the trigger shot makes me more inclined to put on weight! I'm sure having a healthier diet and exercise will definitely help.

Hgy90 · 22/10/2022 16:08

@septembersapphire7 Snap! I’m also on cycle day 14. I had my trigger shot today and waiting to see if I ovulate this cycle as a blood test last cycle showed I didn’t as my progesterone was really low!

The waiting game is tough!

ClubSandwich · 23/10/2022 20:08

Going ok thanks @QueenBee22 how are you getting on? CD9 for me and got my first flashing smiley this morning. I’m on an overnight work trip Tuesday, really hoping my static smiley can wait until I’m home!! Good luck to everyone this cycle

Jendy87 · 24/10/2022 11:38

Hi all, I’m on my first cycle of Letrozole.
At my day 13 USS I had two lead follicles but they were slow to grow - largest 13mm
I am paying per USS so this can add up.
My private consultant recommended not having another scan this month and triggering 4days after my scan - so today.
He hopes the follicles will grow 2mm per day.

Does anyone have experience of slow growing follicles?

Since stopping contraceptives I have been ovulating late avg cycle day 21.
I had hoped the Letrozole would bring my ovulation forward 😫
Today is cycle day 17 and i have had no signs that I usually get for ovulation.
I would hate to waste my trigger shot on follicles not ready 😭

Any advice much appreciated!

Hgy90 · 24/10/2022 16:56

@Jendy87 hello, yes it can be annoying when you go for the scan and the follicles aren’t at the right size yet! I had that this month. My doctor advised me to do my ovulation tests each day and said that by Saturday (just gone) they should be at the required size (he based this on them growing 2mm per day). I tested each day and he was right as on Saturday I got my peak. I then triggered and now in the 2 week wait!

Jendy87 · 24/10/2022 18:39

ahh, yeah it was frustrating.
I’ve not had a peak LH yet but my consultant said to trigger.
now I’m wondering if I should have waited for my natural surge.
very confusing😅
not cheap either for this trigger.
I think this month will just be the trial to get things right.
im being treated with progesterone this month too for luteal phase spotting
really hoping to sort that first tbh.

All the best in the Tww!

QueenBee22 · 26/10/2022 21:56

@ClubSandwich good thanks, 5 days post trigger today so about 2 weeks off knowing for sure if this cycle has worked. Hope your static smiley waited until you got home!

Hi all hoping one of you can help. Did any of you have any luck with letrozole being a higher BMI 34-36 ?

I was told to get my BMI down to under 35 initially but have been prescribed letrozole I wasn't sure if I should wait a month or 2 to see if getting my BMI down further will help and not sure if starting it at a BMI of 36ish will be wasting a cycle.

I had 2 failed clomid cycles in January and February and have since been regularly exercising then went on to keto 8 weeks ago and have now lost some weight as it wad initially higher.

I'm 33 in a few weeks, hycosy was fine a year ago, husband all okay too. So it seemed it was likely my weight that was the 'issue'.

Thanks for your help!

ClubSandwich · 06/11/2022 20:37

Congratulations @septembersapphire7!

seven201 · 06/11/2022 21:09

@septembersapphire7 congratulations. Just checking you didn't have a trigger shot?

My story is long! I have a naturally conceived 6 year old. Have bee ttc for dc2 for 5 years. One early Mc. Diagnosed pco and metformin and First tried clomid, letrazole and teamxofen with no success. Had HyCoSy that showed a blocked tube. Had surgery to unblock it - it wasn't blocked after all but was told I had a midline septum (ridge) in my uterus which shouldn't be an issue. 5 ivf transfers - all bfn. Went for a saline scan and it was discovered I didn't have a ridge, I had big scar tissue in my uterus acting like a coil. Pregnant next month early Mc. Same 2 months later. Went to miscarriage/immune clinic who diagnose immune issues that attack my embryos so on treatment for that. Had an ivf transfer - bfp but ended at 8 weeks but scans showed what they thought was left over pregnancy tissue for a couple of month, so had a hysteroscopy and they found new scar tissue that they removed. Had a 7.5 letrazole round with 3 follicles and a trigger but bfn (after getting my hopes up as my trigger shot gave us false hope).

Now on letrazole round 2 on the 7.5 again. I didn't know you're meant to ovulate cd12-16 on letrazole. That's useful to know! I think I'm away for the weekend at what might be the prime ttc time!

How many rounds of letrazole can you do? Although I'm on my second round it's my fourth month of taking the tablets (first two were cancelled after the pregnancy tissue/scar tissue thing). I've got one ivf embryo left in the freezer, but after my surgery I don't technically need ivf I think. I'm 40 now though so that embryo is 2 years younger...

Anyone else suffer with a thin uterine lining? I get the triple line but struggle for it to get above 7mm in ivf rounds.

QueenBee22 · 12/11/2022 14:31

Hi everyone how are you all doing?

@seven201 sorry to hear you have had such a long journey hope this round of letrozole works for you.

I had another failed round of clomid a week ago. Starting the third and final round now. Hoping third time lucky maybe.
