Letrozole/Clomid Autumn 2022

Hello all, hoping to find some buddies on letrozole or clomid.

My history:
33yrs old, TTC #1 for 2.5 years.
Conceived once in Sept 2020 but fetus died at 11 weeks, MMC at 12 week scan and had ERPC surgery. No cause found (all tests apart from genetics done).
Assessments - AMH, bloods, semen analysis, hycosy, scans X3.
Results - v high AMH, not ovulating alone, tubes are clear, not quite enough cysts to get a PCOS diagnosis, DH semen is great.

Journey with letrozole (since Feb 2022):
2.5mg didn't work
5mg worked for a single cycle (ovulated) then didn't work
Now waiting out one natural cycle (CD35 and nothing happening) then will start 7.5mg

Also trying to lose a little weight to support fertility, stay in range for IVF

Oh and also I found that Superdrug online do at home blood kits that are cheaper for some fertility bloods than private hospitals (E.g day 21 progesterone and amh in case anyone is interested)

Hedgehugs · 01/09/2022 22:26

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl that’s good to know. Why not NHS? My GP won’t refer me to fertility clinic until I have lost some weight. The tests she has done so far results have been very wishy washy. Going private to get some answers and hopefully make a solid plan!

@Slicacakeandacuppatea i have since discovered norethisterone and will mention it if it comes to it, thank you 😊

Sweet211 · 04/09/2022 06:23

Hope everyone’s well I’ve still not got my day 21 results

Maricoco · 04/09/2022 17:38

Hello! have just started clomid for the first time after TTC for a year. Clomid prescribed by GP after bloods and semen analysis. Bloods showed unlikely ovulation despite regular cycles - that said I’ve been tracking and have a luteal phase of 7-9 days. Really hoping that clomid fixes whatever needs to happen!

its day 3 of clomid - no side effects so far.

fingers crossed it works for us!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 05/09/2022 22:26

Hello @Maricoco ! Best of luck for cycle 1. It's so weird how in some areas GPs prescribe clomid/letrozole and in some it needs to be fertility clinics!

It is! The quality of care is so inconsistent. It’s all luck of the draw as to who you get!

Slicacakeandacuppatea · 07/09/2022 20:45

After what seemed like aaaaages, my period has finally started (woohoo!) so I am looking forward to starting my first cycle of letrozole; going to take -@@ 20mg on day 3 🤞🏽

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 07/09/2022 20:51

@Slicacakeandacuppatea 20mg?! That's loads! Is that on a single dose rather than over 5 days?

OP posts:
Slicacakeandacuppatea · 07/09/2022 21:25

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl yes, I was told to take all 8 tablets together so that’s what I’ll be doing. Haven’t read about anyone else doing that but that’s what I was told so am going to go for it

Slicacakeandacuppatea · 10/09/2022 07:28

May I ask, what day did everyone ovulate on their Letrozole cycles? Was it the average day 12-16 like they say or earlier/later?

ClubSandwich · 22/09/2022 10:38

Hi, hope it’s okay for me to join? I’m on my first cycle of Letrozole, took my first 2.5mg dose on CD2 after a baseline scan showed everything is looking okay. Now CD4 and going for a rescan next Wednesday. If this cycle is unsuccessful I have 2 more medicated cycles, at which point if I haven’t got a BFP our consultant has recommended we move on to IVF.

Does anyone have any updates since last posting? Hoping there will be some positive updates, good luck 🍀

septembersapphire7 · 22/09/2022 10:43

Hi @ClubSandwich!

I am currently day 16 on my first cycle of Letrozole too.
I’m not being monitored so just keeping an eye on my temperature and so far it’s higher than normal but no obvious shift (I had long cycles before and was irregular so not quite sure what to expect). I’m feeling quietly positive as it’s my birthday this weekend too but let’s wait and see how things go.

good luck and keep us posted on your journey!

Pixiedusted · 22/09/2022 10:51

Hi @ClubSandwich

I have just finished my first cycle on 2.5mg. My progesterone was 24 which was more than double what is has been so I am pleased with that but I think that still puts me in the inconclusive category.

My consultant has agreed I can take 5mg this cycle which I have started this morning.

Sorry not a completely positive story but I am trying to take the positives from it.

ClubSandwich · 22/09/2022 11:01

Thanks both for replying!

@septembersapphire7 best of luck for your birthday cycle - it’s my birthday the week after so I’m also hoping for a late birthday bfp!

@Pixiedusted sorry to hear your previous cycle wasn’t successful but great that it’s improved your progesterone levels! I hope 5mg does the trick for you, good luck!

Omgdnswv · 22/09/2022 12:25

I'm only just on my first cycle too, the provera didn't work so I had to wait until my period came of its own accord. Or maybe it did help a little cause it was only a 37 day cycle, but it definitely didn't come in the specified time after taking the pills.
Currently on CD 5, I'll have 2 blood tests, but not on day 21 as I'm out of the country, so I've been advised to try on day 24 and if its inconclusive I'll just have to do the bloods again next cycle.
Not sure where I am emotionally, I was really optimistic, but with the provera not working I'm not sure anymore. I don't have any side effect at all (didn't with the provera either and it seems like everyone else who took it really suffered of side effects) so I feel like it might not be doing much. Guess I'll just have to be patient and see

QueenBee22 · 25/09/2022 12:17

Hi @ClubSandwich

This is my first cycle of clomid. I took 50mg per day from cd2 to cd6 at the beginning of September.

I am 12 days post trigger today and 10DPO with a faint bfp....have no idea if the trigger would still be in my system or not.

Anyone know how long it takes for the trigger shot to leave the body? Should I be hopeful???

ClubSandwich · 25/09/2022 12:33

Hey @QueenBee22 sorry I don’t know about whether it would still be in your system at 10dpo, is this the first day you’ve tested? Fingers crossed for you it’s your bfp

QueenBee22 · 25/09/2022 12:35

Thank you @ClubSandwich I also tested yesterday and the line was slightly darker today which is a good sign. I really hope it is good news for us. Don't know what to expect as it is my first time using clomid.

Wishing you the best of luck this cycle.

ClubSandwich · 25/09/2022 14:38

@QueenBee22 sounds like a good sign then if it’s darker today, please keep us posted, best of luck

septembersapphire7 · 25/09/2022 15:47

@QueenBee22 that sounds so exciting and I’ve got everything crossed for you that the line continues to get darker and darker 🤞🏽☺️

Harper02 · 25/09/2022 16:43

Heyyyy all, I'm on clomid 100mg! Currently 4dpo 🥰👋🏻

QueenBee22 · 25/09/2022 19:35

@ClubSandwich @septembersapphire7 thank you both so much. I am going to test with fmu tomorrow and if it is darker again I will start to get excited!

I will add that the fertility clinic told me not to test until 18 days post trigger..but I started having symptoms at 10 days post trigger so I caved and tested at 11 days post trigger. There is always a chance it could be the trigger but I am quietly hopeful!

Best of luck to all of you. This week is going to be the longest week ever!

@Harper02 did you get a trigger shot? when were you told you could test?

ClubSandwich · 25/09/2022 19:51

@QueenBee22 hope you don’t mind me asking, is the trigger shot standard as part of a medicated cycle? I’m wondering if I’ll be having one, or would I have been told if I was going to have one? This is my first cycle on Letrozole and only CD7 so I don’t really know what to expect further along in this cycle.

QueenBee22 · 25/09/2022 20:06

@ClubSandwich no problem ask away.

I was scanned at cd12 and then two further dates until a follicle had grown large enough. When they were happy with that, they gave me the trigger shot which forces the follicle to burst and release an egg.

I am not sure if this is standard practice or not but that was my experience.

ClubSandwich · 25/09/2022 20:13

@QueenBee22 thanks for your reply, that makes sense. I have my next scan on Wednesday so I’ll maybe find out more then! Thanks again. Good luck for when you test again!
