FET in September/October

I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

@SarahC1985 I’d rather honesty than false hope so thank you. I rang the clinic and decided not to continue on the medication in hope AF comes sooner. It’s my first FET, and we have two embryos left so I’m not sure when we might brave going through it again, it’s so expensive too. We have our little girl from ivf so it has worked for us before just not this time.

SarahC1985 · 06/10/2022 21:46

@123cats I'm so so sorry. This process is absolutely exhausting and physically and mentally draining. It's great that you have two little Frosties waiting for when you are ready. I took a big break after my egg collection when I hyperstimulated in April and came back to it all in august. I honestly think it helped my body get back to normal and allowed me to get healthy again and get my mind in the right place. Take as much time as you need and remember that you still have options and you are in a really good position going forward xo

123cats · 06/10/2022 22:33

Thanks @SarahC1985 xo

@123cats I’m pleased you have two little embryos waiting for you but it doesn’t change the fact this process sucks at times. I’ve been taking long breaks between cycles too (my egg collection was back in April) and it’s made the world of difference to my mental health. So I hope you can be kind to yourself over the coming days and weeks before you decide on next steps. Lots of love 💛

@123cats so sorry, it’s a horrible spot to be in. When we had our BFN last year we ended up having delays of almost 11 months before the next one. Whilst it was frustrating at times it was probably for the best to have lots of recovery time. Be kind to yourself over the next few weeks

Hey ladies

Hope you don’t mind me jumping on

I’m now 31, Ive had two early losses 5/6 weeks where only gestational sac seen on scans, 1 chemical and 1 failed FET.

I have remaining 9 blastocysts in freezer, my ivf doctor believes this is down to chromosomes.

I’m booked in to see Dr shehata in London for immunes testing as I have Crohn’s disease, but also because I’ve had all level 1 investigations and only thing found was borderline clotting but this is treated with blood thinners.

Im torn between now testing embryos which terrifies me because of my history I’m just scared ill end up with none, or not testing and testing my immunes along with era, Alice and Emma.

Care Manchester have said put money to testing embryos as they will give me the immunes protocol with steroids and intrapalids if need be?

please could use help with some advise? Also did any of use suffer losses similar to mine with no baby on scans?

i have always had low progestorone but for FET was on lubion x2 a day and 200mg x2 ustrogen suppositories. My doctor said they don’t do bloods for progestorone cause I was questioning wether I absorb this? I was frustrated cause I was happy to pay for this test for peace of mind and eliminate possibilities of why my FET didn’t stick. I will demand this next time though.

lovely to hear postive news in here and wishing you all the best 🥰

MyEasterEggs · 07/10/2022 07:47

@Hopingformyhappyending welcome 🤗

I had my embryos tested. First time ICSI IVF and 7 were biopsied, 3 were normal. Two of the normal ones were lower grade so, had I not tested, I might’ve been transferring a bunch of abnormal embryos before getting to those.

I can totally understand the concern around testing though and the worry that none will come back. It was an anxious wait for me. You also have thawing, refreezing and rethawing to consider.

I suppose my own thinking was that, after 6 losses, I needed more certainty. And so I was happy with the result and I’m at peace with having three tries. But there’s some suggestion that testing isn’t necessarily accurate and in the US some women have had abnormals transferred with successful results. Here in the UK they’re discarded. But it’s a risk I was willing to take. I know of others on these threads who have been happy to not test and give every embryo a chance but I personally couldn’t have kept experiencing losses. I needed a plan and to draw a line somewhere.

I also had immune testing and EndomeTRIO and found them worthwhile. I’m on prednisolone and intralipids and the ERA showed I needed extra progesterone.

I don’t absorb lubion so I’m on prontogest. My clinic tests it and wants another sample on Tuesday. If you have low progesterone testing makes sense, and it’s been shown to reduce miscarriage, so push for it.

Hope this helps a little 💛

Yeah the intramuscular is meant to be cheaper too, not that it bothers me cause the oil based one is not meant to be as pleasant as the lubion.

I’ll demand the test whilst I start taking lubion next time and if it’s low I’ll change.

I totally understand I feel the same, I broke down to my husband and said I physically cannot transfer another embryo without some answers as I felt it was all my fault.

I think for now then I’ll test the embryos have the era, Alice and Emma, and hold the immunes testing for now as my doctors will allow an immune protocol for my next FET.

Are on 25mg steroids?

Really appreciate your response

MyEasterEggs · 07/10/2022 08:56

20mg steroids @Hopingformyhappyending. I know some immune specialists recommend 25mg but I’m happy being on slightly lower dose.

Thanks @MyEasterEggs and @IVFAnon it’s just all so unfair! I just feel with my age and currently working full time (so I’d have better maternity pay) are also a factor, I don’t feel I can wait too long to try again but I agree it’s best to be in the right headspace!

LT103 · 07/10/2022 18:53

@123cats so sorry 😢

123cats · 07/10/2022 21:17

Thanks @LT103

CentaurChiron · 07/10/2022 22:44

I'm so sorry about your BFN @123cats I know the disappointment and it really sucks!

123cats · 08/10/2022 00:23

Thanks @CentaurChiron it can be awful what we go through

IVFAnon · 08/10/2022 08:28

I did a Superdrug early detection test this morning and the line is there but really faint. It did come up within the first 5 minutes so not an evap.

I’m feeling like this might end up being a chemical 😔

MyEasterEggs · 08/10/2022 08:48

@IVFAnon oh I feel for you! It’s so hard to know what’s going on at this stage but since you’ve used different tests it’s impossible to compare. Maybe the Superdrug isn’t as sensitive? I stuck with FRER for Wed and Fri and ordered another pack last night to compare Sunday since I had a little spotting yesterday. Such a rollercoaster. Hang in there 💛

OP posts:
IVFAnon · 08/10/2022 09:16

Thanks @MyEasterEggs - I’m going to go and get some FRER tests today for comparison

MyEasterEggs · 08/10/2022 09:24

I wouldn’t necessarily buy FRER @IVFAnon but one of the ones you’ve already used so you can compare?

OP posts:
MyEasterEggs · 08/10/2022 09:29

I feel like I shouldn’t be encouraging testing but that would be hypocritical of me. Since I’m checking again tomorrow…

OP posts:
IVFAnon · 08/10/2022 09:38

@MyEasterEggs the one I used before was given to me by the clinic, I don’t think I’ll be able to buy another one the same unfortunately

CentaurChiron · 08/10/2022 10:46

Oh @IVFAnon I hope it isn't a chemical. How many days past transfer are you?

IVFAnon · 08/10/2022 10:57

@CentaurChiron I’m 11dp5dt, OTD is Monday

CentaurChiron · 08/10/2022 11:00

@IVFAnon I'm keeping everything crossed for you for Monday!

SarahC1985 · 08/10/2022 11:02

@IVFAnon I agrée with the others. Try using the same tests. FRER is more sensitive so just stick with one brand. Sometimes I find second morning urine more accurate!

IVFAnon · 08/10/2022 19:10

I will do another Superdrug one tomorrow morning but I did do A FRER this afternoon just as a sort of second opinion and it’s a very strong positive which is encouraging.
