Hi,

I'm just starting this thread as i've kept joining previous ones in hope that I would be at the same time but got left behind with the ups and downs of ivf.
After 3 cycles, 2 failed fresh transfers, PGT-A testing to give us 3 euploid embryos and just now getting our results from the ALICE/EMMA/ERA tests, I am now finally in a position to hopefully start FET on my next cycle with a transfer likely to be end of May or early June!! 😍. Would love to have people to chat to who are following a similar timeline.

@Whenwillithappen amazing news!! Congratulations

Scotcheggscoffer · 07/05/2022 08:47

Hi all, thought I’d hop along for the ride seeing as I’m following all of your posts.

This is my first IVF cycle after nearly a 3 year wait which included lots of repeated investigations and a failed micro-TESE on my partner. Then we had to find a sperm donor which was an experience (!) have genetic screening, and now finally.. here we are!

I’m now 36 (nearly 37) and going through the antagonistic protocol. I had my 5 day scan yesterday and the dr didn’t give much away apart from to confirm all looks “ok” (kicking myself for not asking more questions now!) next appointment is on Tuesday.

I’ve been taking 300 Gonal F daily and started on the Menopur and the other one that I can’t remember the name of. The Gonal injections were fine but I had a bit of trouble with these new ones last night and I’m a bit bruised today. Otherwise I’m fine, a bit tired maybe but I’m always tired anyway so it’s hard to tell 😁

Currently obsessing over looking at my calendar to try and predict when my egg collection might be and whether I’ll mess up the trigger injection, or whether they’ll cancel my egg collection last minute and it’ll all be a waste of time, and all the rest of it.. ha! I’m not good with the unknown and this is what this whole process is to me.

Whenwillithappen · 07/05/2022 09:02

@LT103 Thank you so much!! And good luck with your upcoming FET - honestly thought it was a very smooth process compared to a fresh transfer (although I did a medicated cycle). Fingers crossed for you!

@Coops0406 Aww thanks 😍I’m going in on Tuesday for a blood test, I don’t really know what the next steps are to be honest but I think you have to stay on your medication for about 10 weeks and from my understanding you also come in for a scan at some point in between for a scan/blood test. Couldn’t hold myself so took another test this morning but it certainly looks very positive to me! I’ve attached my two tests, I’ll stop now and just enjoy the moment! Have a great weekend and fingers crossed for your upcoming FET!

@Whenwillithappen you must be staring at them constantly! It's so lovely to see this as it gives us hope one day it will be us. I think if I ever got to that stage it would be like that scene in Gavin & Stacey where she empties a shoe box of positive tests 😆

I've been listening to the podcast All IVF ever wanted. It is really very good and helpful for info and covers so much. I think you take from this the bits that may apply to you have things you had no knowledge of at all which maybe raises questions you can ask. Would really recommend it. As a bit of a novice to all of the terminology I have found it really helpful and a bit of knowledge makes it all a bit less scary.

I've got my first scan at the clinic this week, first time of follicle count etc so bit nervous. Has anyone got scans of transfers etc this week?

Coops0406 · 08/05/2022 21:22

@Thornbird80 it's a great podcast isn't it. I've tried a few but that one seems to have been the best. When is your scan? I hope it goes well. I'm the week after.

@Scotcheggscoffer I hope you are doing okay on the stims. How many days are you supposed to be on stims for? Do you have a provisional date for egg collection or will they tell you that on Tuesday?
The main thing I would want to know in my scans is how many follicles of a decent size there are.
It's such a hard process, lots of waiting, guessing dates of when things will be...we've all done it so don't worry, it's completely normal in this journey we have zero control over! Hopefully tomorrow will pass quickly and you'll have your scan Tuesday then get a clearer idea of things.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend 😍

Hi and welcome @Scotcheggscoffer wow 3 years. Is your donor someone you know or a anonymous one. We may need an egg donor (highly likely) and it all gets a bit real when you start reading donor's bio's! Hope you feel ok on your stims.

@Coops0406 my scan is 3.30pm on Weds. I've had internal scans before but knowing they are now really looking at the important stuff and not just the size of my cyst it's a bit nervy because it's not just if I need an op or not his dictates so much! Best of luck for your scan

I find that podcast so informative, described it as IVF 101 to my husband. Am making him listen to the 2nd episode on sperm health as he has been told he is fine, his count is 60 million and they say 14milllion is what they look for!! But need him to appreciate there is so much more to it that count, before he thinks his part is already done. Just listened to the one on genetic testing, that was really interesting. In a way I find it amazing how anyone just falls pregnant so bloomin easily!!!

Anyway lots of luck and babydust to you all xx

Coops0406 · 08/05/2022 22:15

@Thornbird80 it is definitely a good listen. And I know what you mean about them being told they have "super sperm" so from their side they can just continue as normal. My OH was only advised to just take a good daily multivitamin!
I also follow an American embryologist on Instagram, alease the embryologist, she was on a podcast I listened to and I found her interesting so followed her! You might like her too.
So in this scan is it like a baseline scan to check your follicle count before starting treatment?

Reefy · 09/05/2022 15:01

Hi all, just starting on my 4th cycle. I'm on day 3 of Norethisterone. Never been able to get any embryos to freeze so really hoping we can this time 🤞. All being well should be due for EC beginning on June!

Thornbird80 · 09/05/2022 21:12

Yeah that's right first baseline to see if i'm even a viable option. Dr got back to me today she has written tp the gyne team at the hospital and basically told them to pull their finger out! I'm getting quite a lot of pressure/pain form my cyst so it really could do with being taken out. Had one removed from that side 6 years ago but its blooming well come back.

Thornbird80 · 09/05/2022 21:35

All the best @Reefy have they changed anything this round?

Reefy · 09/05/2022 22:08

@Thornbird80 no they haven't changed anything as I respond fairly well to the stims.
Round 1-9 eggs
Round 2 - 13 eggs
Round 3 - 12 eggs.
Looking through I see we are at the same clinic!

Coops0406 · 09/05/2022 22:12

@Reefy got everything crossed for you for this round 🤞🏾 how long are you on the norithisterone for? I'm noticing the higher dose of oestrogen is definitely making me a bit snappy!

@Thornbird80 it's so annoying how slow they can be! Surely in gynae they should know how time precious everything is! I guess they'll see the cyst in your scan on Wednesday too and probably suggest taking it out before treatment? Then maybe you can get gynae to move faster!

@HJen22 how are you doing?

@Scotcheggscoffer hope scan is good tomorrow 🥰

OP posts:
Reefy · 09/05/2022 22:14

@Coops0406 thank you. I have for up too! 10 days this time but that will fly by. How long are you on that for? Your Scan is next week isn't it?

PMAmostofthetime · 09/05/2022 23:26

@Coops0406 Can I join- currently in Limbo with likely new cycle June. Great news on your results

@HJen22 how are things going with you? X

HJen22 · 10/05/2022 07:58

@Coops0406 good thanks 😊 how are you? Well actually still got awful toothache, I'm on their cancellation list now as I called yesterday and I'm relying heavily on painkillers to manage the pain. Apparently it's to be expected but it's making me pretty miserable 😩 other than that though, start norethisterone Sunday for 12 days and yeah I've got the baseline scan booked and the two monitoring scans in June!

@Reefy welcome! I wish you the best of luck for your cycle! I'm a little behind you but EC in June too all going well 🤞🏻 how are you feeling?

@PMAmostofthetime I was going to tag you in this thread ❤️ how are you? I hope the days aren't dragging too much waiting for your call. Are you managing to keep busy? I've started to get a little nervous again but trying to keep my mind off it, which isn't easy! Xx

Whenwillithappen · 10/05/2022 08:03

@Thornbird80 thank you! Yes, there is definitely hope! You may have seen from my posts earlier on in this chat that I was pretty much convinced it hadn’t worked and was already planning for my next transfer, so was very surprised when I got the result, so hang in there and one thing I’d say as a tip for the TWW is to try to not overanalyse your symptoms - I pretty much had none so you do never know until you take the test, I also held off testing until closer to the test day just to get a clear test result (last time I started early and got a false positive on day 5 which I think was just the trigger, then devastated when it was negative on the test day, this was a fresh transfer).

Wishing you the very best of luck with your upcoming scan and hopefully you’ll have a successful outcome and a positive result too when the day comes! ❤️

BlueSilver23 · 10/05/2022 08:48

Hi everyone, I joined the last months thread hoping I’d have started but my cycle got delayed so hoping to join this one! I’ve just started meds for this round a few days ago and aiming for EC early June (bank holiday weekend, because of course 🙄 Clinic say they are open as normal though).

i recognise a few of you here I think! Best of luck to everyone

Reefy · 10/05/2022 08:57

@BlueSilver23 hi I remember you from the Nov cycle. I think EC will be around the same time they say 3rd or 6th but have said they are open. I guess if the eggies are ready they need to come out!

@HJen22 thank you. You too. Is this your second cycle? Have they given you a rough date of EC? Yeah I feel absolutely fine about it. I had my last one in February & glad to be back starting as we were waiting for enhanced male fertility screening just ti check everything as on the last cycle we had to do ICSI but the 2 before were fine so thought was worth checking.

Coops0406 · 10/05/2022 09:31

@Reefy yes scan on Monday! Less than a week away! I'm so excited but then need to remember that I always have stumbling blocks so can't count on everything being smooth sailing up transfer!!

@PMAmostofthetime @BlueSilver23 it's lovely to see you here, but obviously not that great as it means we are all back in the same boat again! But hopefully stronger for it and this will be our time 🥰

@HJen22 oh gosh, I feel your pain! I had to have root canal last September inbetween cycles! I have a broken tooth at the moment but I have an appointment on 1st June...but if ET happens before then they won't be able to x-ray...but they have no appointments before! So unsure what to do now! It's such a nightmare because once you're in the throws of meds can they actually do dental treatment? I have no idea! I really hope you manage to get a cancellation! Could you get an emergency appointment?

So exciting to see that all the ECs are falling in a similar timeline! I feel like I have been joining every monthly thread thinking it's going to happen and been left behind as things haven't progressed as fast as I'd have hoped. So now I feel excited again to be actually nearly there!

Do you know whether you will all be having fresh transfers? I've stupidly been looking at dates and if all goes to plan with ET I think my OTD will be around 10th June! And I'm seeing Ed sheeran that night...so will either be crying tears of joy or pain to his music! Either way, will be crying! 🤦🏾‍♀️ but looking at this, if you are all having fresh transfers it could be around that time too! 😍

BlueSilver23 · 10/05/2022 09:37

Hi @Reefy I remember you too. Hoping for a smoother ride this time. i’m starting on slightly higher meds this time though so a bit concerned about my reaction to that, I don’t want to end up in the hospital again! Can see you’re not changing protocol. Have they said why they don’t think youre getting embryos as those seem like a very good number of eggs to me! I’ve been taking lots of multivitamins and q10 leading up to this cycle so will see if that made any difference at all. I’m a bit sceptical that it will!

BlueSilver23 · 10/05/2022 09:40

Hi @Coops0406 Yes it’s funny how we’ve all ended up on the same timeline again! For me this was always planned as I’m doing a few rounds for freezing before transfer, but tbh I’d put it off for a couple of months (and then it got delayed) as I was worried after feeling so awful with it all last time. Dreading the needles again 😭

HJen22 · 10/05/2022 10:46

@Reefy yes second cycle for us too! We had a bit of a drama and didn't make it to ET last time, because we didn't they've not classed it as a full cycle. That was in March! Rough date for EC is 13th June! I was fully awake for it, I was so nervous but at least this time I know what to expect. Did your male testing all come back ok?

@Coops0406 ugh I know, it's rubbish. Just what you need between cycles 🙈 I can call again if the pain gets unmanageable. I'm taking so many painkillers it's hurting my stomach which can't be good! Ha yeah the dentist asked is there any chance I'm pregnant before X-rays last week, told him chance would be a fine thing 😂 it's worse now too cos a bit of the temp filling has chipped so it's sharp! It doesn't rain, it pours haha. Really trying to not let it get me down!

So exciting after all your waiting your time has come!!

@BlueSilver23 welcome ❤️I remember you from previous threads too! Let's hope this one is a lucky one for all of us! Xx

Reefy · 10/05/2022 11:03

@Coops0406 it just always feels like so much waiting doesn't it. I know but remember what time scans vs EC have been!

@BlueSilver23 no they haven't said what they think it is which is rather annoying! Yes I know you were bad with it last time so fingers crossed for you 🤞

@HJen22 we are ok 4th one now! You should see me when I go for EC now I'm literally undoing my gown as soon as im at the door & legs up 😂 they always say to me you've done this before! Do you have any in the freezer? Oh wow how did you find being awake? I don't remember anything at all from any of mine. Yes they said the shape of the head was a bit funny so have advised ICSI but extra costs isn't it 😂

BlueSilver23 · 10/05/2022 11:11

@HJen22 Lets hope so! 🤞 I also Aube a root canal being done next week! On IVF meds and a root canal. Lucky us 🤣

@Reefy That is annoying, you’d hope that they’d have some idea why? But then it does just sometimes seem to be down to chance and luck!

i don’t remember my EC except towards the end when I started to wake up and tried to get off the bed! But EC was fine for me last time so hopefully this time is also fine. They are going to try and get a senior doctor to do it this time as they think I perhaps sustained an injury during it last time and that’s why I was bleeding for the week afterwards. It was the easiest bit of the whole thing tbh and I was stressing about it for the whole cycle! Couldn’t imagine being awake for it though

Reefy · 10/05/2022 11:13

@BlueSilver23 I know. He said we just need to find a good egg & good sperm 🤞🤞
