IVF buddies April/May

Sorry if there's already an April/May thread, I can't find it!

All of our tests have been completed (last August) and we were advised to call the clinic on day one of my cycle in April. AF arrived early for the first time in forever so I chanced ringing yesterday and we're good to go!!

Just waiting on a call back from the clinic with official dates and protocol but I know I'll be taking Norethisterone pills first so won't be dealing with injections for a good few weeks yet.

Is anyone else about to get started? It would be great to have some buddies along the way Smile

I'm 30, DH 27. TTC over 3 years and delayed getting tests due to Covid.
We're at Care Fertility Chester and this is out first ever round (we only get one NHS funded - thanks postcode lottery)

@Suki2020 I had my fresh round last august, a frozen November, another frozen February, and now starting another fresh :-/ I'm guessing this is your very first IVF? I will also be very nervous when it comes to mine again, but believe me you will do great, it's not an bad as your expect, and I could hear them shouting out the amount of eggs collected as we went, which really helped too :)

Coops0406 · 11/04/2022 09:23

@ChristmasJumpers my first round (nhs) with cate Chester had no baseline scan and had 1 monitor scan on day 6 then last scan day 10 of stims. I was referred from preston with pcos. Then on my day 6 scan told I don't have it but have got endometriosis! When I swapped clinics for my paid cycles I made them do a baseline scan (one determined that they would delay treatment by a month as a large cyst in my ovary taking up potential room for follicles). Then the next round I didn't have a baseline scan. When I was with care Chester, I did notice I seemed to have the bare minimum and knew very little yet others elsewhere were being looked after much more and knew so much more about their treatment. I wasn't sure if it was because it was our nhs round, or our first round so just went with the flow no questions asked! Do you know your AMH? Care base the meds from your age, weight, AMH (which is what the blood test must have confirmed you have pcos I'm guessing)

ChristmasJumpers · 11/04/2022 09:33

@Coops0406 my AMH was 61.8 I think and Mr Haddad said they'd expect under 20 for my age. I don't understand why it wasn't picked up by the hospital when I had my tests but Mr Haddad said straight away it's PCOS.
I think I'll ring and at least ask for a baseline scan

@ChristmasJumpers that is definitely high so very very likely! Mine was 28 (age 39) and they said that was high for my age.
I just replied to you in another thread too...I knew I had written a message then couldn't find it! So you have another, slightly different reply! 🤣

NicNumpty30 · 11/04/2022 13:46

I’ve just had my eggs collected this morning. This is my first time round, all new to me! I’m 35 (just) and having IVF under advice of the fertility clinic because I have a low AMH for my age and some past gynae issues. Fingers crossed, embryo transfer at the end of the week and take it from there!

IE00 · 11/04/2022 15:46

@ChristmasJumpers thanks for your response, sorry for the delay, I was away with my friends.

I've started the oestrogen and my pre-FET scan is on the 28th - hoping for it to be sooner as it is the only day I'm on a training course for work.

I've seen I now need to sign a waiver that I am happy to have treatment during covid 19. The irony that I didn't have to sign one in January when numbers were through the roof!

Also, how many is everyone putting back? How did you make the decision?

IE00 · 11/04/2022 15:46

*I mean my pre-FET transfer scan, so transfer should be 5-7 days later

IE00 · 11/04/2022 15:53

@LouiseD2018 I just read your news, this is awful. I'm so sorry, I hope the scan goes okay.

LouiseD2018 · 11/04/2022 16:03

Hi all, we did have some great unexpected growth over the weekend, 1 25mm and 5 between 10-16. Linning 15

Awaiting estrogen test, I was told if its over 1000 will proceed with ec wednesday with a prewarning that the 25mm follicle might at that stage be too big so relying on a good couple of smaller ones I got the message we might be lucky to get 1 egg because of varied sizing.

Failing that they might decide a couple more days on stims with possible collection Friday. Should find out in the next hour or so.

Slightly more positive but still really feels quite uncertain!

Suki2020 · 11/04/2022 19:11

@LouiseD2018 that’s good news. I have my EC on Wednesday as well. I’m doing my trigger shot tonight. Your 10-16 follicles will keep growing so they should be ok by Wednesday. I have one at 30 and they told me that one would be no good as it’s too big now.

LouiseD2018 · 11/04/2022 19:16

Good luck @Suki2020 yes I'm conformed foe Wednesday too, with the nurses doubts earlier this week I truly thought we were out.

I'm triggering at 9pm. Very nervous for the egg collection, how are you feeling?

LouiseD2018 · 11/04/2022 19:18

Gosh my fat fingers! Confirmed for*

Suki2020 · 11/04/2022 20:06

@LouiseD2018 that’s great news. Yeah I’m really nervous too. We have to be at the clinic for 7:45am for collection at 8:15am and we live just over and hr away, so early start for us on Wednesday.

LouiseD2018 · 11/04/2022 21:00

How did it go @NicNumpty30 are you feeling OK?

Hayleylou128 · 12/04/2022 14:40

I had my scan today following 16 days of down reg to see if I'm ready to start down reg. My AFC was only 5 in total Sad

Hayleylou128 · 12/04/2022 15:50

Louise it won't let me tag you for some reason but good luck!!!! I hope it's good news! Xx

NicNumpty30 · 12/04/2022 22:16

All good thankyou. I was very nervous but I was very well looked after. Was a bit foggy headed yesterday afternoon post procedure (Blame the propofol sedation!) but just the occasional bruisy feeling inside today. They collected 4 eggs and the update today was that 3 have fertilised!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Just a waiting game for implantation on Saturday now! Good luck for tomorrow @LouiseD2018. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you 🙂

Rtmhwales · 13/04/2022 01:30

@NicNumpty30 Congrats - glad to hear it went well. It must be so nerve wracking being in the waiting game now to see how they develop and then the transfer and then the 2WW. I'm dreading that eventually.

As for me, I finally got my dates to start stims after my priming cycle (I think it's down regulation after researching further) and it'll be on 15 May - my birthday. Wish it was closer but oh well.

LouiseD2018 · 13/04/2022 07:10

That's great @Nicnumpty30, I hope the pain subsides quickly.

We have arrived at our clinic sat outside, we had to be here for 7.30 despite our slot being at 9.

I feel strange this morning, yesterday I was so bloated I thought I would burst and my ovaries felt tender.

Today I feel nothing aside from nerves. Of course I googled and saw the possibility of early ovulation freaked myself out 🙄.

I listened to a couple of mindfulness videos to unwind it worked for a while. Now sat outside my thoughts are going crazy again. Husband seems quite chilled, I wish I could have some of his calmness!

ChristmasJumpers · 14/04/2022 10:57

@LouiseD2018 So glad you got your growth and could have egg collection, how did it go? @Suki2020 and yours, how was it? I hope it went smoothly for you both and you have positive updates today on fertilisation rates

@Coops0406 I rang and asked about a baseline scan and was told I don't need one and it wouldn't tell them anything. The nurse was nice but almost laughed it off so I didn't ask any more questions other than "are you sure?" as I felt a bit stupid at that point. I just have to trust them I suppose as they've got no intention of giving me a baseline

@Rtmhwales That's not so long away really, I'll have hopefully just has my egg collection by then so we'll be in the thick of it together Smile

I've been taking my Norethisterone since Tuesday and so far have had a banging headache all Tuesday and a very emotional day yesterday. Both could be coincidences (I've been on the verge of tears on and off for weeks as we started to seriously head into IVF!)

Hi @ChristmasJumpers yes all went well yesterday thanks. Little tender but not too bad. They collected 10 eggs. One was no good. Phone call this morning said 5 had fertilised out of 9 so I was really disappointed, just hoping we have some left by Monday.

ChristmasJumpers · 14/04/2022 11:06

@Suki2020 5 little embabies, that's amazing! I like to think of it this way, imagine how you'd feel now if you'd only had 5 eggs collected and today they'd rang to tell you that all 5 had fertilised Grin

I'll be sending positive thoughts your way for great news on Monday

Hey I’ve been reading all then forums for months wanting to message but didn’t know whether to as I’ve been a little overwhelmed since starting

I started my ivf route and my egg collection was yesterday they collected 19 eggs , I was told after my transfer would be on Monday

I had the phone call today to say 5 have fertilised which I’m really happy about I know from 19 maybe I should feel a bit disappointed but I just feel really positive and still think that’s such a good number they have also now said that there looking really good and my transfer might be Saturday now instead of Monday so I just got to wait for a phone call early Saturday morning!

So overwhelmed I’m in shock!
It’s such a rollercoaster of a journey and I’m wishing everyone luck ❤️

@ks94 brilliant news, 5 is a great number Smile. Have they explained the decision to maybe transfer early? I'm limited in my knowledge of all this but I think day 5 is the standard transfer date. I might be wrong though!
