Embryo quality

Hello, just wondering if anyone had any success stories they wanted to share with 'poorer' quality embryos? We're doing FET at the moment with our one & only Frostie - think it's a 4cb.

Following. I have 2 C minus Frosties and feeling pretty hopeless about them 😞

ivfmumto1 · 06/01/2022 20:39

@YouBoggleMyMind Ikwym - the consultant said in our initial meeting for this cycle that if it was good enough to freeze then the embryologist must've thought there was a chance so I'm keeping this in mind but doesn't make it any easier. Are you having both Frosties transferred at once?

3bc transferred, she’s a perfect, gorgeous toddler!

ivfmumto1 · 06/01/2022 23:43

@Happycrocodile aww lovely. I've been reading lots of articles/studies saying that embryo grading isn't the be all and end all - lots of other factors at play. This gives me hope - thanks for posting x

We already have DS, age 4 who is a clomid baby so we don't want to risk twins (for many reasons). It also doesn't increase your chances of a live birth putting more than one back so for us, single embryo transfer is what we will be going for.

ivfmumto1 · 07/01/2022 12:09

@YouBoggleMyMind Yes I read many accounts of women having 2 lower grade embryos transferred but I wouldn't either if we had more than one as we couldn't risk twins (many reasons also). We have DD who is an ICSI baby from fresh transfer and just turned 15 months.

Seems as though we are in similar boat then! When do you plan to do an FET?

ivfmumto1 · 07/01/2022 21:24

Currently doing our FET - day 15 of Buserelin jabs..got baseline scan next week then will know more. When are you planning on doing your FET?

OP posts:

Waiting for my period to come then straight onto oestrogen on day 2. Scan around day 12-14 and then transfer a week later. On a short FET due to PCOS and no cycles.

ivfmumto1 · 08/01/2022 01:12

Sounds good. Hope it comes soon. I was on short cycle for previous fresh transfer so it was all done and dusted within about 15 days which was great..this one seems so long and tbh tougher as the buserelin is really taking its toll on my moods & getting headaches etc. Trying to not catch covid too as otherwise this cycle gets cancelled and rescheduled for a future date..

Hope all goes well

Happycrocodile · 16/01/2022 20:02

How are you getting on @ivfmumto1 and @YouBoggleMyMind? We’re just about to go for FET trying for a sibling, counting down to my next period!

YouBoggleMyMind · 16/01/2022 20:07

In a very surprising turn of events, I've just found out I'm pregnant naturally. Extremely shocked but delighted.

Happycrocodile · 16/01/2022 20:37

@YouBoggleMyMind WOW! Congratulations! Wishing you a healthy 9 months x

ivfmumto1 · 16/01/2022 20:41

@SantoPalo thank you x

@YouBoggleMyMind Congratulations!! That's brilliant! Best wishes xx

Thank you @Happycrocodile utterly shocked. Paid for our FET and medication and literally was waiting for my period to come and it never did. Totally bizarre situation to find myself in!

YouBoggleMyMind · 16/01/2022 20:42

Thanks @ivfmumto1 Smile

ivfmumto1 · 16/01/2022 20:44

@Happycrocodile We went for baseline scan last week after 20 days of Buserelin & started on Progynova estrogen tablets - next scan 25th and if lining thick enough (minimum 7mm) then transfer on 3rd or 4th Feb x Are you doing medicated FET or natural?

OP posts:
Happycrocodile · 16/01/2022 20:53

@YouBoggleMyMind that’s crazy and awesome! (I even secretly keep imagining this happening but I know for us it actually can’t)

@ivfmumto1 medicated, the clinic said that it’s less likely to have to abandon the cycle if it’s medicated. My toddler is from our first, fresh cycle, after reading up, learning and going through a fresh cycle I’m feeling a bit in the dark about FET! From what I know so far (I have a full consultation next week) I start medication day1 (My period is due beginning of Feb) and then it will be a day10 scan to check lining and hopefully transfer 5 days after

ivfmumto1 · 16/01/2022 21:09

@Happycrocodile I know what you mean - my 15 month old is from fresh cycle and I had no clue what to expect this time. We only have one Frostie so it's a bit nerve-wracking. Trying not to read too much (so much info out there & I Google too much) and just go with what my clinic advise.

OP posts:
Happycrocodile · 16/01/2022 21:38

Sounds like we’re in the same position, our toddler is the same age too 😊 I think the fresh was a bit easier as there was stuff to focus on (number of follicles/ eggs/ embryos)! I’m trying to be relaxed and optimistic (I’m sure I’ll fail!)

ivfmumto1 · 16/01/2022 22:03

You're spot on - last time in my mind there were 'stages' to go through & this time it's all about the prepping for the transfer and knowing there's only one chance. Also this is a much longer cycle for me as I had a short cycle last time as had high AMH (so at risk for OHSS). I'm the same - trying to be optimistic but just feel like we've beaten the odds already having been lucky enough to have our beautiful DD.

OP posts:
Happycrocodile · 18/01/2022 07:25

Exactly that! I was obsessed with the statistics last time and can’t believe we would be lucky enough to have two successful transfers/ pregnancies!

Happycrocodile · 21/01/2022 22:00

How are you doing @ivfmumto1? I had my telephone consultation with the clinic and interestingly I think they will choose to use our other day5 3bc embryo to transfer first over the day6 embryos we have which are both 5AA graded 🤷🏻‍♀️ Unless I have any massive preference but they are the experts. Still got to wait a couple of weeks for my period!

ivfmumto1 · 21/01/2022 22:12

@Happycrocodile That is interesting as I was under the impression that the higher grade embryos got used first but as you say they are the experts..
