TTC with Letrozole/Clomid

Anyone else here on Letrozole or Clomid for ovulation induction?

I'm on my 2nd cycle of Letrozole and looking for others in a similar situation.

Info about me:
26 y.o
Been TTC for just over 2 years.
Dosage: 5mg of Letrozole on days 3-7.
Diagnoses: Male factor (0% morphology), low AMH, low progesterone

I'm currently on CD10 and using OPKs to track for ovulation. I'll be taking a blood test on 7dpo to check if I ovulated.

someone else made a good point though about my luteal phase defect. I’m starting to brown spot from 7dpo so that’s when my progesterone levels drop but not too dramatic else full AF would start and full AF only starts at 14 DPO. So confused if I’ve actually had chances at pregnancy over the last 16 months or not because of the unstable lining from 7 dpo. But the. I’ve seen women get pregnant with spotting through luteal phase. It really makes no sense :(

Thanks for reply @Loz365 ive got a scan on Wednesday just hoping they find follicles were you on any other meds. I have to have protected sex til my scan it’s day 10 of my cycle today I’ve got pcos and my cycles varies from day 32 to 42.

Letrozole finished from private consultant. Used CBFM to time dtd although I don’t know if I’m ovulating as haven’t temp’d. Can’t afford to go back to private consultant so fingers crossed that this final round works. Hope you are all doing ok ladies xxx

@Sweet211 let us know how your scan goes to monitor your follicles. 🤞🏼 My problem is a “weak ovulation” which I’ve had since last July when I got my covid vaccine. Which seems strange. I’ve got pregnant easily twice before but lost our second at 17 weeks. So we’ve been trying again since then wirh no luck. Turns out I have low estrogen and low progesterone. I knew about the progesterone as I spot from 7 DPO every single month until my period arrives. Not sure if that’s stopped me getting pregnant because it’s only a slight drop as full AF doesn’t arrive or if there is something else wrong or if my egg quality has changed 😞 i just wish I knew why we can’t conceive again.

i have clomid days 2-6. Estrogen days 7-11 then progesterone from 2 dpo.

@Sweet211 yep that's what I have to do when they were scanning me. Fingers crossed they see a dominant follicle!
I'm on a whole host of vitamins and supplements, I've been on inositol for nearly a year after not having a period for 6+ months and that seemed to help - had a period nearly every month since.
Then I also take folic acid, vitamin D, C, coq10, magnesium and vitamin B. No idea if any of them are helping but now I've started I'm too scared to stop in case it makes things worse 🤣

@Loz2467 &@Loz365 my scan went ok today they found a good size follicle I’ve got bloods on day 21 do they check progesterone? How am I going to know when I ovulate? My cycles Varies from day 32-42.

@Sweet211 that's great news! Enjoy DTD over the next few days 😆 Yep, day 21 blood test will be for progesterone and that's how they confirm you've ovulated. Can't quite remember the numbers but it's something like over 30 confirms you've ovulated - it should have the ranges on the result when you get it through.

How will I know when I’m ovulating?

Hi ladies, how is everyone getting on? My third medicated cycle was a flop! Negative test yesterday so waiting my period. I didn’t even cry. I just feel so over this journey and don’t know what else I can do.

Emailed my clinic to see if anything to change / maximise my last 2 medicated cycles and they said no. Only this is can remove the estrogen because he isn’t a great believer in it anyway but surely that’s what they give to people going through IVF to improve the lining?

Starting to wonder if my low estrogen and low progesterone is linked to stress but I don’t feel that stressed? Xx

Hi @Loz2467 im waiting for my day 21 results and it’s day 29 I’ve rang them and they said they short staffed

@Sweet211 ah that’s so frustrating! I hope they have it to you by Monday. My day 21 test was always okay. August was 61 but still spotted for a week after that and Dec was 37 still spotting. Then finally in June it was 21 and it was on the day I started spotting. That’s when I was able to get the cyclogest progesterone which has stopped the spotting but not sure why I’m still not getting pregnant. Wondering if there’s another issue I don’t know about.

@Loz2467 oh no, so sorry to hear your 3rd cycle hasn't worked 😞 but you've still got 2 cycles to go!
I'm on my 3rd cycle of letrozole, but 2nd at 7.5mg. Had my ultrasound on Wednesday that showed 2 dominant follicles and my endometrial lining was better this time, the nurse was much happier with it, so now DTD every other day and waiting for BBT and OPKs to confirm ovulation. They then want me to have another day 21 progesterone check to make sure. Just hoping it works again for us this time and it sticks 🤞🤞

@Sweet211 that's annoying. Was it done at the clinic or your Gp? Can you see results on your NHS app? X

@Loz365 im glad your scan gave you some reassuring news! Fingers crossed it’s your cycle and it’s a sticky one! Because clomid can thin your lining and mines always been quite thin anyway so I don’t know if to take a couple of months break. I’m definitely taking October off because I’m away with work in my fertile week anyway. I just don’t want the clomid having a negative affect on my lining especially when I ovulate naturally at day 17 always anyway? What would you do?

@Loz2467 have you had any other tests done. I don’t even ovulate naturally I never have done it’s all waiting game for me.

Ive had all hormone tests done. Day 3 FSH was always okay last year but in January it snook up to 11 which isn’t great and is showing things are changing. My AMH is only 8.4 which is low for my age (36) but I did have a good follicle count of 21 so I’m not sure?? Things have definitely changed for me. I got pregnant naturally first time twice and then nothing since my Miscarriage. I just don’t know what it is. Low estrogen and low progesterone is sometimes caused by stress but I don’t feel that stressed so I dunno. I even paid private for a hyterscopy to check for polyps and have a biopsy etc . I’m just at a loss now really waiting for potential IVF in the new year if we decide to commit to it financially. I never thought it would come to this 😞 feeling sad but not surprised that my period arrives today - well trying to arrive. It doesn’t just start into normal flow like it used to before my miscarriage in feb 21. Xx

@Loz2467 ive had miscarriage too good few years ago I’ve no embryos left hence I started letrozole I’ve got a LO already but trying for a sibling. There’s ppl who have had pregnancies with low AMH yours is not bad at all, I took progesterone pessaries until I was 37 weeks pregnant. Have you got pcos? It’s horrible with hormone balances some ppl get accupunture or cupping therapy done it helps circulation and to balance hormones.

@Sweet211 I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. It’s so hard isn’t it. I have a LO too he’s just turned 3. Second pregnancy we lost her at 18 weeks and then nothing since. I swear it’s caused me problems :( no I’ve always had regular cycles and ovulation and normal periods etc Until my miscarriage. My thyroid is okay. No polyps etc. Thats why I’m thinking stress affecting estrogen and progesterone but how are you meant to even stop worrying. :( also I don’t want to just blame stress but it’s strange my estrogen is low too hence a thinner lining. I’m just not sure. Gonna sit down with my partner tonight and see what to do about IVF. Scared of the financial commitment.

Hey, hope you don’t mind me joining in this thread. I’ve been TTC for just over 1.5 years now and finally went to see a fertility doctor who has prescribed me with 2.5mg of letrozole. So I’m due to start that in the next day or so.

@Loz2467 oh sorry for your loss too I lost my son at nearly 20 weeks it was a fresh cycle of ivf then I’ve had chemical pregnancies then I conceived my LO she’s 5. It is hard what can you do you have to be mentally and physically prepared for ivf. Are you from the uk? which clinic are you thinking? The letrozole gave me really bad hot flushes and weather was hot already I had twinges and all sorts now nothing.

@Hgy90 welcome let’s hope it works for you. I started with 2.5mg then 5mg as first time no follicles 2nd round they found a follicle I’ve been to have day 21 bloods I’ve still not got my results which is annoying I’m on day 30 today 🤷‍♀️.wishing you all the best.

Don’t think it’s worked this 2nd round too I’ve just had spotting in my wee due AF soon I feel so deflated 😓my lo wants a brother or a sister.

@Sweet211 I’m so sorry I never got notification of this! I just checked the thread now. I’m so sorry about your loss. It’s devastating isn’t it. I’m also blown away by the loss and then infertility it feels like a double blow that I can’t comprehend.

how did your cycle go?

I’ve decided to do one last go with the clomid but remove the estrogen and then just start the progesterone after ovulation. It’s not worked for the last 3 months so no point in repeating it.

Just weighing up IVF. I feel so desperate like you to give him a sibling. X

Hello just joining in. Have skimmed through the messages trying to catch up. I am 30 TTC +2yrs. Scan and Blood tests with gp, was told pcos and didn’t seem to be ovulating but not getting anywhere fast. SA for husband all came back normal. Decided we would go private. So last week had tv scan and amh bloods, this week had results confirmed pcos but knew I had that anyway. Next up is hycosy and I pick up my prescription Saturday (letrozole). So now all happening super quick and joining you all for the ride :) fingers crossed for all and copious amounts of baby dust!

@Hedgehugs Welcome to the thread! I’m happy to read you went private and are finally getting somewhere! Fingers crossed for your TTC journey! I know letrozole can be really successful when been TTC but not ovulating. I was a little different as I do ovulate but I was given clomid to try and “boost” my Chances which hasn’t worked for me - which I knew deep down anyway because I was already ovulating and nothing was happening since my miscarriage. Xx
