TTC with Letrozole/Clomid

Anyone else here on Letrozole or Clomid for ovulation induction?

I'm on my 2nd cycle of Letrozole and looking for others in a similar situation.

Info about me:
26 y.o
Been TTC for just over 2 years.
Dosage: 5mg of Letrozole on days 3-7.
Diagnoses: Male factor (0% morphology), low AMH, low progesterone

I'm currently on CD10 and using OPKs to track for ovulation. I'll be taking a blood test on 7dpo to check if I ovulated.

AF arrived Saturday for me, CD 2 today, cycle 3 letrozole, no scans this month as will be on holidays for ‘action’ week. Really hope this is our month!

Thanks @Wackadoodle84 - scan showed a 29mm follicle which is too big really. They've given me a trigger shot today so will BD but not holding out much hope.

I had slightly more positive news at my scan today. I have two follicles so should ovulate in the next few days. I say slightly more positive because it's raised more questions for me... I have bleeding mid-cycle which I always thought was ovulation but clearly isn't as I had it this month and I haven't even ovulated yet! And also it's CD17 of a 28 day cycle and I haven't ovulated yet?! So seems too late in the cycle for me. Quite confused about it all but nurse said I will have to discuss with my doctor.

@BritInNZ that's good that you had 2 follicles! Maybe this cycle will be a bit longer?
Interestingly my OPKs are steadily rising and I think it may peak tomorrow which doesn't really make any sense when they said they couldn't see any signs of ovulating...
But then maybe they'd just scanned a bit early...?

@Hopeislost ooo I've not heard about a follicle being too big?! What does that mean?

@Wackadoodle84 sorry to hear af has arrived 😔 what dose of letrozole are you taking?

@Hopeislost the good news is you got a lead follicle, the trigger shot should get it to release before it gets any bigger, fingers crossed this is your month!

@Loz365 I’m taking 2.5mg from day 2. Brilliant news that opks are getting darker, have you had a positive yet?

@BritInNZ fantastic news! Strange about the mid cycle bleeding, is that new since starting letrozole? Letrozole may well alter your cycle length if ovulation is much later

Am having some serious dizziness this time round which apparently can be a side effect. Have to say would sooner the headaches than this, feels awful! Two tablets down, 3 to go…

@Wackadoodle84 I always get mid cycle bleeding (well I have for maybe the last year) but I thought it was ovulation - clearly not! Must be something hormonal just before ovulation but will probably discuss with my fertility specialist. I'm pretty sure I ovulated CD17 as I had such strong ovulation pains, damn those two eggs 😂

That's odd about your dizziness. I just had very light headaches. Just got to get through the next few days and then you'll be over the worst of it 😊 what cycle of letrozole are you now?

I'm not sure what my plan is moving forward. I have a blood test next Wednesday to confirm ovulation and then I guess the specialist will tell me that I can continue without monitoring as it's been proven the dosage works for me? Will be nice to have a break from wanda, the internal ultrasound wand 😂

@BritInNZ Fingers crossed for your two follicles! And yes, I'm fed up of the wand already and it's only cycle 2!

@Loz365 Mature follicles are 18-24mm, if they go above that they can be over-ripe. I couldn't be scanned earlier cos of the 4 day weekend.

How is everyone getting on? 8 days post-trigger here and starting to feel better (the trigger shot makes me super bloated and lethargic).

@Hopeislost AF is due in 3 days for me. Have all my usual PMS symptoms sadly, so think I'm out this cycle. What makes you get the trigger shot? I've never been offered that, maybe I don't need it?

They've given me the trigger twice now as I've had mature follicles that haven't released naturally. But because my trigger shot is the pregnancy hormone (HCG) I get all the early pregnancy symptoms (bloating, nausea) until it's out of my system.

@Hopeislost the 5mg cycle ended at CD27, so now onto cycle 2 with 5mg

@Hopeislost sorry I missed your last message! Thanks for explaining about the large follicles, hopefully this is your cycle.

CD26 for me and still waiting either for ovulation to confirm or AF to show up 🙄

@Loz365 I'm on CD23 and the hospital told me to test on Monday 20th. I can't test too early as there's a chance of a false positive from the trigger shot.

No-one seems to have luck on their first cycle! Maybe it's like pancakes and the first one is just a practice? And we'll all fall pregnant on cycle 2?

Fingers crossed that's the case @Hopeislost . They're still titrating my dose so we will see what CD21 and CD28 bloods tell them this month. My clinic has not suggested a trigger and also doesn't do any scan monitoring - not sure why

@Loz365 I feel exactly the same like it definitely hasn't worked for me 😭 how many cycles will you try it for? We've got another 5 and then we need to re-assess. My AF is due this weekend 😭

Have you had any additional PMS symptoms because of letrozole? For the last few days I have been SO thirsty, like I can never drink enough water. And then the last two days I am having hot sweats. We're in the worst of winter here and it's 0 degrees outside but as soon as I do any activity I can't stop sweating. This is definitely not a usual PMS symptom for me 😂

Good news ladies, progestrone level is 54 so definitely ovulated 😊 how's everyone else getting on?

Just did some googling... has anyone else had progestrone tested in their luteal phase? Check out this image... why the hell do I have 54 😂 that seems ridiculously high! No wonder my boobs are bloody agony!

@BritInNZ NHS guidance on progesterone levels has units of nmol/L and over 30 indicates you have ovulated.

@BritInNZ high progesterone in luteal phase is GOOD. But it'll also be why your PMS symptoms are high

@TheDaydreamBelievers yes explains why I always have such bad PMS! Especially the boobs. Good to know I'm not imagining it 😂

I get 6 cycles in total, I'm not sure if it starts once I've shown a response or if I've already used 1 chance. I need to ask at my next appointment!

The letrozole has given me so many cravings, this month has been a bit like being back on the pill. Snacking on sugary snacks all the time and feeling really bloated. It had been so nice not having any of that for 18 months but oh well, needs must! 😅

I finally had positive OPKs on Wednesday and temp rise yesterday that's stayed up this morning so I think I'm now 2DPO (finally!)

AF is here already - wasn't due to test until tomorrow!
