I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

@Bec18x I'm a day ahead of you I think so we had egg collection on Saturday and get our Day 3 update tomorrow. The wait is intense isn't it?

Here is my day 5 update: out of the 6 embryos at day 3, 3 have made it to day 5. 1 is a good quality blast and has been biopsied for PGS testing. The results should come back in about two weeks. The other 2 are early blasts and they think one will be ready to biopsy tomorrow, and they will keep the third as long as day 7 to see if it will be ready.

They asked if we wanted to freeze one and transfer two, but we decided that we want to stick with our plan to batch and test. This is only our first batching cycle of 3. If all 3 blasts make it to freeze that's great, but we might only have one frozen from this cycle.

I'm doing back-to-back stim cycles so will start meriofert again from tonight. Not really sure how many days of stims before next EC, but i have a scan scheduled for Fri.

The Dr said I will need to wait out at least one regular period before starting the third batching cycle, to let my body recover.

Well - scan done - lining looks really good (12mm I think they said), egg thaw on Thursday and transfer next Tuesday. All suddenly very real...

@Bec18x that’s great news on the fertilisation! 11 is a good amount! I think I stopped everything apart from multivitamins with folic acid after the EC last time as most supplements I’m taking are for egg quality I think.

@WhiteLily86 I had sedation for my last round and it was just like a nice sleep! I woke up thinking that they hadn’t done anything at all! You could always enquire about GA though if you’re worried.

I'm due to start my second (and last) go at IVF tomorrow. We had an unsuccessful round about a year ago (self-funded).

We are lucky enough to have a 5 year old son but it took years to have him. Since then, we've had two MCs (including one MMC at 10 weeks and all the fun surgery that comes with that). I've been tested and prodded and poked every which way and we've been diagnosed with unexplained secondary infertility.

This time round, we're doing long protocol ICSI and I start injecting Suprecur/ busrelin tomorrow evening.

I'm feeling super anxious about it all. I know we're so lucky to be able to have a second go at IVF, but I find the scans really triggering after my MMC. I know I'm just going to have to suck it up though.

@crazycatlady1981 hello there. I'm in the over 40s club too. 😂. Hoping our 2nd cycle is successful.

We're having ICSI been down regg for 2 weeks . Another week To go before scan on 25th

I spoke to the clinic this avo and they arent Co corned by the fact I've not had a bleed yet. She said it will come . So I feel reassured . X

Glad you feel reassured re the bleed @justwannbeamam i think everyone reacts differently. In fact since messaging you earlier it looks like AF is coming again (i only had a bleed 2 weeks ago) so now I have officially no idea what is going on!? Anyone else had 2 bleeds on buserelin!? was hoping to be scanned and start stims on Wednesday. really hope it doesn't delay anything!

Sounds like today has been a busy day of egg collections, transfers and embryo updates . Well done to you all and best of luck with next steps. Its exciting to think there will definitely be some BPFs in the next few weeks between us xx

I've not heard of anyone having 2 bleeds. But I would think its a good thing . Shedding more lining perhaps. Hopefully it won't delay. I think mines coming my boobs feel a bit tender. And I'm eating anything and everything .

We just got thru In time for 1 cycle then we got another 2 awarded bc of covid and cancelled apps

@Justawannabemam neither have I! Worried it means I’m not responding properly. Realised last night that your AF is triggered by a drop in oestrogen so am hoping that is what has happened which means the Buserelin is working. For the last 2 scans levels have been too high to work so fingers crossed it’s an off but good sign, I have a scan tomorrow so guess I will find out then. Just hate the limbo sections!

@Bluebonnet3 I can't believe how quickly you go back onto stims! Well done on sticking to your plan, it's easy to divert off in these situations. I hope your other embryos are ready for biopsy freeze today 🥰

@Vslightlystressy wow! It's going to be here before you know it. I didn't realise it's that long from thaw to transfer! I just presumed it was a day thing! 🤦🏾‍♀️

@Coops0406 I know, right? I will find out more aty scan on Fri, but the nurse did mention yesterday when she confirmed the dose of meriofert that for this round we aren't bothered about the lining, (as it's a freeze all). So i suppose the ovaries and uterus will be out of sync for a bit? I don't know. They have called the protocol 'dual stim'. At this clinic I do a blood test each time i come in for a scan, so they are monitoring the hormone levels. I wonder if I'll be ready for another EC in 2 weeks. Probably shouldn't speculate!

When I rung yesterday all panicking they reassured me that if it hadn't arrived they can give me longer which wouldn't have been ideal as I've just booked all these days off work according to my plan . My boss was awesome. His gave me days to isolate, hospital appointments off . Transfer day and the day after I used leave. I was willing to use about 5 days and he was like "nope!leave is for you to do something better than isolate" . I used 2 days cos I felt guilty asking for anymore. I Dont wanna take the piss. I wish I'd told him last round really. But he understands why I never.

@Bluebonnet3 I've heard of that, my first consultant was going to put me on duo stim, which was stim for 10 days, EC, 5 days break then at it again! In the end a different consultant said I just needed max dose drugs rather than a duo stim round so we never did it. I got the feeling that it also pushed some of those follicles that had started to grow but didn't get there? So maybe you'll get a few more out on this one 😊 It's probably a good idea for embryo banking cycles but good that you have a break after this one. Are you on the same dose of meriofert? I mixed my trigger ampules last night and I can safely say I don't miss having to mix those up! It would have been 6 ampules every morning on my dose 🤣

My OTD had been 10th December and I had a period that time and now had my first ‘natural’ cycle bleed last week. It seemed a lot lighter than my post ivf period but this week I am feeling some nausea and very tired. Does anyone have experience of hormonal issues post ivf in the first couple of cycles. I’m planning on transferring somewhere toward end of feb and want to get my body back to as normal as possible before then

Day 3 update today was ok news- all fertilised are at cleavage, about half are grade 2 (no grade 1s), the rest lower, all between 8-12 cells. Now comes the real nerves as the day 5/6 results are go-time and going to be very nervous next 48 hours!

@Coops0406 I was already on max meriofert (450). I have the 150s, so 3x150. My first round i was on 225 and got 5 eggs and 3 embryos on day 3. So the next cycle (and new clinic) we decided to see how i respond to max meds to try to get more eggs.

After the second cycle were decided to go for banking. I'm 42 and this is arguably our best/last shot at getting enough of my own eggs for use... not knowing how many it will take to get a successful pregnancy, if it works at all.

Just got my day 3 update too, I didn't get grades just that from our 11 we have 2 low quality, 3 average and 6 good quality. They said the average ones could still catch up so I guess that's 9 in the running from our 11! Over the moon and have absolutely no idea how I am going to last till Thursday for another update.

@PcosSOS yes the wait is the worst part now! Amazing news on your embryos! Fingers crossed for day 5 update. Are you doing a fresh transfer?

@Bec18x Yep, booked in for the afternoon on Thursday so we won't hear anything until right before the transfer. I was a bit worried about OHSS yesterday as I have a lot of bloating and tenderness but it seems to have calmed right down today. How are you feeling from EC?

@Glitterandunicorns sorry to hear all that you’ve been through, it’s such a difficult journey. I’ve just started buserelin yesterday for long protocol so we’re probably on a similar timescale and I’m also doing my second and final round with unexplained infertility! Good luck with your first injection today!

My clinic only does baseline scans on Wednesdays so they said my schedule is likely to change depending on whether I’ve started bleeding or not by 26th which is my first scan date. If I haven’t, it’ll be 2nd Feb for my first scan!

@PcosSOS ah how exiting! I feel like normal, was a bit tender on the day but since that I've been fine. That was my biggest worry as I didn't want it to stop me having a fresh transfer.

@crazycatlady1981 well we are very close to each other. My scan is 25th . And EC is hopefully 7th they do them Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays. So either the 7th 9 or 11th . I've booked time off based on the 7th .
