I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

@Janefx40 have everything crossed for you! Do they begin the thaw the evening before? Let us know how you get on xx

Good news @MollyVanDer and @Jennie154

@Bluehawaii29 I’m doing an FET too

BegoniaGal7 · 16/01/2022 19:44

Oops hit post too fast. We are doing natural cycle, day 9 today and going for scan to check lining and ovaries tomorrow. Very nervous but I reckon if things don’t look alright we’ll just reevaluate next month?

MollyVanDer · 16/01/2022 19:45

@Bluehawaii29 I'm on utrogren pesseries taken vaginally three times a day and a Lubion injection at night. My clinic also wanted me to get more progesterone this cycle. I was told to take them the day after EC and if BFP they may continue throughout the first trimester but that's for a later decision x

Bluehawaii29 · 16/01/2022 19:57

@MollyVanDer thanks for your reply, my consultant told me cyclogest will remain at twice a day when I questioned whether we should do three times a day but she seemed pretty sure Lubion would do the trick so let’s hope X

PcosSOS · 16/01/2022 19:57

@Coops0406 Aww thanks, I felt tired and crampy yesterday but nothing too bad, I was mainly relieved we'd gotten that far as I felt convinced I'd ovulated early the day before!

@Newbee33 We got 16 eggs, 14 were mature and today we were told 11 have fertilised so I am over the moon! Just have to wait till day 5 now to see what we have. It's so hard isn't it as all the clinics have different plans and then everyone is on different protocols or plans anyway even in the same clinic. Best of luck for your cycle xx

Bluehawaii29 · 16/01/2022 20:05

@Janefx40 aww this is something that I get nervous about too going in to FET. We have 4 remaining embryos and plan is to transfer 2 but the consent form asks questions like what if one doesn’t survive the thaw do you want to defrost another. It’s so hard to decide and know what to put for that question.

MollyVanDer · 16/01/2022 20:23

@PcosSOS what a fantastic set of embryos for you. Hoping they all stay strong for you then you can have a football team :)

Jennie154 · 16/01/2022 20:35

@Janefx40 I will get an update in the morning then hopefully transfer at lunch time. I am really concerned about the fragmentation. Fingers crossed for your transfer tomorrow x

Newbee33 · 16/01/2022 20:37

@PcosSOS That’s fantastic, I bet you were really happy with that 😊! Good luck for day 3 call x

Bec18x · 16/01/2022 20:40

@Coops0406 they didn't really mention OHSS but I am super conscious of this so I've been drinking plenty but so far I'm ok just a bit tender. As expected. My trigger was buserelin and not Hcg and the doctor today mentioned this should help. She also said she cleared out everything so not sure what that means 🤷🏼‍♀️ Keeping my fingers crossed that all stays ok and we can transfer Friday 🤞🏻

Jennie154 · 16/01/2022 20:41

@PcosSOS what an amazing number of embryos fingers crossed for your next update

Coops0406 · 16/01/2022 20:51

@PcosSOS great numbers! And such a good amount fertilised, fab news! When is your next update?

@Bec18x I'm so surprised they didn't mention OHSS with 36 eggs! At my clinic when you're around 20 or over they give you a full info sheet on things to keep an eye on. Ah yes, the buselerin trigger is supposed to be better for that. Keep looking after yourself 🥰

Janefx40 · 16/01/2022 20:54

@Jennie154 there's always something to worry about with IVF but fingers crossed all will be well. We can be transfer buddies!

@Bec18x I've had a Burserelin trigger before and it does totally counteract the OHSS symptoms. Well it did for me. Did they give you a small injection of hCG at egg collection and are you now taking estrogen? Really important if you have a Burserelin trigger and are planning a fresh transfer x

@Bluehawaii29 the clinic I was at at the tjme tend to over medicate so I was on 8 cyclone at and 3 Lubion - and I don't even have an issue with progesterone 😂. That is very much not necessary for most of us. I'm sure your Clinic have you on the right dose especially if you are taking cyclogest as well. There is some evidence that mixing the types of progesterone is actually better.

Frenchiepupmama · 16/01/2022 21:37

Managed that Prostap injection Friday... Wow that Was big one😱... I see why its technically supposed to be given by nurse or health care professional.

Only side effect so far is had a dull headache all day today and the injection site was sore all yesterday.

Did my first ovaleap injection tonight and found it so much easier.

Got scan and blood on Friday to see how the follicles are developing 🤞 I do stil wonder to myself 225 of Ovaleap seems low but hopefully itl b slow and steady progress.

Hope everyone is doin OK ✨

Aimz40 · 16/01/2022 21:38

Hi everyone, I hope it's OK to join in. I'm currently on my 3rd round of ivf, im doing the short protocol this time after two cycles of doing long.

In the first cycle I got 10 eggs, 4 fertilised and 2 made it to day 5 but not quite blastocyst, I had them both transferred BFN

2nd cycle we got 11 eggs, only 2 fertilised with icsi, 1 died and 1 was very poor quality and put back on day 3 - BFN

I was meant to do the 3rd round in August, I totally changed my diet in preparation, I gave up gluten and dairy and did Keto, I got pregnant naturally whilst waiting to start my cycle, unfortunately I had a diagnosis of down syndrome and had a termination for medical reasons on the 15th October.

So tomorrow is day 5 of stimulating and I have my first scan to see what's happening, I don't feel very optimistic as at my baseline scan I only had 1 follicle on my left ovary and 2 on my right. I'm really feeling down about things today. 😭

Bec18x · 16/01/2022 21:40

@Janefx40 they didn't mention anything about hcg. I have started the crinone gel and I start lentogest, enoxaparin, aspirin, progynova and utrogestan tomorrow

Jennie154 · 16/01/2022 21:56

@Aimz40 Try and stay positive. I only had 1 follicle and from that follicle they got an egg which has fertilised. Hoping for transfer tomorrow. Remember, it only takes one

Aimz40 · 16/01/2022 22:15

@Jennie154 thank you for replying, you're right I do need to try to stay positive. I was trying to stay quite relaxed about things, but I think it's just the anxiety of the scan tomorrow. IVF is such a roller coaster of emotions, it's tough. I just got my partner to give me a shoulder rub, it's helped a little.

Good luck with the transfer tomorrow, fingers crossed it's the one xx

Janefx40 · 16/01/2022 22:34

@Bec18x it sounds like they are on top of things. It may be that the progynova is the important one. You need an extra boost after a Burserelin trigger to get pregnant. My clinic forgot (!) but luckily I realised in time to sort it out and then had me DD. Didn't want to worry you but wanted to check xxx

Frenchiepupmama · 17/01/2022 05:15

@Bec18x hello hope you don't mind me messaging.

I have used Access Fertility and I've found the really really helpful. This is our first IVF journey and they made the whole process smooth. We luckily qualified for the package we wanted which was the three cycle 50% refund programme if it doesnt work. They answered any questions I had and put us intouch with our private clinic for initial tests ect.

I would recommend them.

Vslightlystressy · 17/01/2022 07:11

Going for scan today. - if all good eggs will be thawed and see where we go from here! Excited, scared, apprehensive…

Frenchiepupmama · 17/01/2022 07:37

@Vslightlystressy good luck for today. I've got 5 days of Ovaleap and my first scan/bloods to see how follicles are developing on Fri.

Justawannabemam · 17/01/2022 08:55

@Hopeful199
@NaomiNatNat

Still awaiting a bleed. Is it worth me ringing the clinic? May they increase the dose for a week. I'm thru for a scan on 25th . The medication is working cos my moods have changed . So my OH says I can't think what his talking about......😂😂.

I actually had a melt down yesterday just sat in floods of tears. Thinking I'm not responding. I felt better for it afterwards. X

All these egg collections are good stuff . 36 Wow I got 6 in our first cycle . I'd be pleased if I managed to get 10 .x hope your update is a good one . I cant wait to hear how they get on x.

Jennie154 · 17/01/2022 09:18

I’ve just had an update. The transfer is going ahead but the embryo isn’t great quality. They grade 1-4 with 4 being the best and ours is a 1/2.

NaomiNatNat · 17/01/2022 09:27

@Bec18x I'm over the moon for you, 36 eggs! That is truly awesome 👏👏👏

@Justawannabemam I'm on my 4th day already, absolutely no symptoms or side effects yet so no bleed but the nurse said it may happen in about 1 week from the first injection. I got a mahussive bruise on my thigh from where the needle went in yesterday but that's it. My scan is on 28th (sorry if I've said this before). Did you hv any side effects on your first cycle?

Big hugs Flowers
