I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

@Jennie154 great news!! I have everything crossed for your little embryo to go all the way 🥰

@Dobcaty fantastic you have 6 fertilised! Sun has good news. I hope you have things to keep your mind occupied for the next few days.

Do you both get an update on day 3 or just day5?

@MollyVanDer sounds like a traumatic day! I hope you feel okay and love the comment about that bump making its way down! 😊 fingers crossed your 4 all fertilise well today.

@Bluehawaii29 it makes all the difference how they all speak to you, like you said it can lift your mood and change your mindset like that!

Jennie154 · 15/01/2022 10:43

@Coops0406 if all goes well I am having a 3 day transfer on Monday

MollyVanDer · 15/01/2022 11:01

@Dobcaty

Oh no *@MollyVanDer* look after yourself today and hopefully that bump moves down to your belly area very soon! 😘 Let us know when you got the call 🤞
@Dobcaty this made me and my wife laugh out loud hahaha
Bluehawaii29 · 15/01/2022 11:16

@Dobcaty @Jennie154 congrats on your fertilisation results both of you! Fingers crossed they keep doing well xx
@Janefx40 thanks for your reply. Will feel less stressed looking out for signs next time knowing this! It is very frustrating though airing for that test and patience is not something I’m good at but am practicing!
Hope you all have a great weekend! Xx

Bluehawaii29 · 15/01/2022 11:19

@Coops0406 the first time our embryologist was very abrupt and impatient with us asking any questions. Made me feel like I couldn’t say anything or know anything. I expressed my concerns to the lead embryologist yesterday who is giving this person anonymised feedback and promised me she will see to it that she personally makes our experience better this time and that we can ask for her whenever we want Smile so that makes me feel reassured going in to this next cycle x

MollyVanDer · 15/01/2022 11:20

Our clinic has just called, of our 4 eggs two are mature and one is showing signs it might mature. Unfortunately none have fertilised. They are leaving them another 24 hours to see if fertilisation happens (we are using donor sperm).

Doesn't look like this cycle is going to end well for us.

We are okay though, this is all a process.

Have a lovely weekend ladies x

thislittlebird · 15/01/2022 11:35

@Appleby11 and @MollyVanDer sorry you had a rough time after EC, the whole process scares me tbh but it's good to hear people went through it with side effects and were ok

thislittlebird · 15/01/2022 11:36

@MollyVanDer sorry to hear your news and fingers crossed for the next 24 hours. look after yourselves and have a good weekend x

Bluehawaii29 · 15/01/2022 11:53

@MollyVanDer sorry to hear about your EC experience and praying the next 24hrs goes ok for your eggs. Sending love xx

Hopeful199 · 15/01/2022 11:53

@Dobcaty great news on your eggs! Fab news

@Justawannabemam I was on Buserelin 12/13 days before my bleed and my period was a few days late so I’m sure it will come.

Mine took a while to kick in. Scans showed that one side had responded better than the other so currently on day 24 on Buse with a scan and bloods booked for Wednesday to see if we can move on 🤞🏻

Hope you’re arrives soon!

NaomiNatNat · 15/01/2022 12:13

@MollyVanDer Hope you're alright after EC day, lots of hugs and hope you get the good news in 24hrs🤞

@Dobcaty That's amazing, well done Smile

@Justawannabemam I'm still on day 2 of Buserilin but also curious to know when others had their bleed. My normal bleed is due Weds next week anyway, not sure if Buse affects that.

Wilsonicus · 15/01/2022 12:16

Hey everyone! Hope you don't mind me joining!

I've just started my first ever IVF cycle. I took prostap yesterday and start stims tomorrow, with my first scan to see how the eggs are doing next Friday. My husband is an absolute trooper and has offered to do all my injections for me, and yesterday's one wasn't so bad!

It would be super nice to talk to some folk who are going through it this January! I wish everyone the absolute best of luck!

Newbee33 · 15/01/2022 12:59

@MollyVanDer Sorry sounds like you have had a rough few days. Do they try ICSI if they don’t fertilise? Am sure we signed to say it was ok if they needed to change from standard IVF to ICSI ? But not sure at what point they decide that. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

@Jennie154 Woohoo that’s great news.

@Wilsonicus Welcome to group, best of luck starting injections.

We have just had embryo transferred this morning told to test 26th Jan and to stop progesterone when test but others seem to carry on so not sure what’s best. Anyone else due to test around this time?
Xx

Bluehawaii29 · 15/01/2022 16:02

@Bec18x I remember the feeling, did my egg collection back in end of nov and transfer was early December. Was actually better than I thought it would be, the sedation is really good and I didn’t even know what was going on. Just recommend afterwards you will feel very sleepy so just take the day off and chill. The hardest bit is waiting on the results. They tell you how many eggs you get on the day but I found waiting on the fertilisation results and waiting to see whether it makes it to day 5 the hardest as well as the 2WW. Each stage just seems to get harder as you go along, funnily enough the easiest part for me were the injections. I hope your procedure goes smoothly and looking forward to updates xx

Hopeful199 · 15/01/2022 16:16

Oh @MollyVanDer I’m sorry to hear that. Are the still able to do ICSI to maximise chances? Everything is crossed for you.

Hi @Wilsonicus welcome!
I am hoping to start stims next Wednesday as long as scans and bloods all look ok…. I have had extended down reg. Good luck and hopefully I will be joining you soon!

Bluebonnet3 · 15/01/2022 17:18

My day 3 update from embryologist: of 6 fertilised, 6 are still going! 3 are top quality and one is a bit iffy, starting to fragment. Anyway, that's my best day 3 report so far (out of 3 cycles, all icsi). They are doing assisted hatching on all of them today in preparation for biopsy on day 5 for PGS testing. Please let some of them make it to day 5 and be good enough to freeze! The plan is to test as we go, to elliminate the extra freeze-thaw needed for testing at the end of the batching cycles.

Coops0406 · 15/01/2022 17:47

@Bluehawaii29 that's so good! There's nothing worse than not feeling comfortable with the people who are trying to help you get to your end goal m, especially when you have to put all your trust in them! We changed consultant and moved to a different clinic after our first round because of it!

@MollyVanDer you still have 2 there who could make it all the way so stay positive. Enjoy your weekend and hope we hear good news from you in the next few days.

@Wilsonicus welcome! My hubby does all mine too, I think it's a nice way to involve them! And possibly he greys payback for all my horrific moods thrown his way 🤣 when are you due for EC?

@Newbee33 how are you feeling? Wishing you all the best in the 2WW. Have you got plans to pass the time? Sending lots of baby dust and hoping your little embryo nestles in nicely 😊

Coops0406 · 15/01/2022 17:51

@Bluebonnet3 fantastic news!!! How does the test as you go work, are they all tested after each cycle then frozen? When should you get the results from this one and what have you got already from the last cycles?

Jennie154 · 15/01/2022 18:11

@MollyVanDer Stay positive there is still a chance of good news.
@Newbee33 Fingers crossed for your little embryo.

tulipsandsnow · 15/01/2022 18:18

Have gotten back from hospital an hour ago, was there several hours after general wore off, feeling ok overall but wish I could just sleep from now until finding out how many fertilise.

@Bluebonnet3 I am also doing PGT-A! it means another wait after 5 day results, then have to wait for another stretch of days for test results!

@Appleby11 as someone prone to UTIs all I can recommend is in future taking progesterone pessaries as suppositories instead :/ They actually gave me an antibiotic suppository while I was still asleep during EC today to prevent infection they said its a new protocol.

@Wilsonicus welcome! do you have an estimated day for EC yet?

MollyVanDer · 15/01/2022 19:11

Does anyone else use Access Fertility? How did you decide what programme to be on?

MollyVanDer · 15/01/2022 19:13

@Hopeful199

Oh *@MollyVanDer* I’m sorry to hear that. Are the still able to do ICSI to maximise chances? Everything is crossed for you.

Hi @Wilsonicus welcome!

@Hopeful199 unfortunately once they mix the sperm they can't then move to ICSI. Thanks for well wishes, we've kind of ruled out this cycle now but who knows we may get a miracle x
MollyVanDer · 15/01/2022 19:14

@Bluebonnet3 that's a great day 3 update. Based on you saying that this cycle has delivered the best day 3 report what changed this cycle compared to your previous?

Newbee33 · 15/01/2022 19:42

Thanks @Coops0406 & @Jennie154 feeling ok the transfer itself was pretty painful though much preferred the sedation of egg collection 😂! Work is very busy at the moment so hoping that will help make time go quickly but we shall see.

Good luck for Monday Jennie144.

Coops0406 where about are you at with treatment? Xx

Coops0406 · 15/01/2022 21:15

@Newbee33 that sedation is just the best sleep ever!! I just have 2 more days of stims, final scan Monday with EC on Wednesday 🤩
