I'm wondering if I need to take any new drugs. Progesterone? After my first transfer I started heavy bleeding after 6 days so for all other transfers I've been on progesterone injections and extra suppositories. I'm also on levothyroxine and metformin, just for fertility. I assume I need to carry on with those as normal. I think I'll take 75mg of aspirin as I had to take that when pregnant with my daughter due to my slightly high bp (I did get pre eclampsia so maybe should be higher). Sorry, just brain dumping! I would ask my gp but they're impossible to get hold of.

Oh wow @seven201 tentatively congratulating you. I understand how scary it all is ❤️ definitely start progesterone. I'm on levothyroxine too and I'm having a blood test on Friday to check my levels do maybe ask your GP to check yours? I'm also on daily aspirin.
Are you testing again today? Sending lots of love, it's overwhelming but good news.

Glad you're feeling better @Gardenlady543 and it does sound like Prof B believes you can get there. Good luck for Friday.

@Janefx40 I've bought a pregnancy after loss book too and it's got some strategies to try. There's a one week to a triggering event activity that I'm going to start. I'm wide awake again so just been lying with my hands on my tummy. Just muddling through.

Lots of love everyone xx

VenusStarr · 04/11/2021 05:43

Just seen your GP is difficult to get hold of, mine are too @seven201, tried for an hour on Monday and they just didn't answer. So I tried on Tuesday later in the day and got my favourite receptionist and she got things sorted for me without me needing an appointment. If you're on levothyroxine they definitely want to check your bloods sooner rather than later x

bluepixie · 04/11/2021 07:08

Oh my god @seven201 this is wonderful (but scary news). I was secretly hoping after lower has visited ur uterus some
Magic would happen. He seems to do that!!!!

Def start ur progesterone asprin thyroxine and metformin and can u get in for a hcg at ur gp or ur ivf clinic??? (Unless u don’t want one of course). How many days post ov r u,

seven201 · 04/11/2021 07:18

@VenusStarr @Cream123 there's a line this morning too. Blimey! Bonkers.

So what dose aspirin? 75 or 150?
Progesterone. Shall I just do the suppositories for now? I think I remember them saying they don't think I generally have a progesterone problem, so maybe not the injections.
Levothyroxine I will carry on, same for metformin.

I've emailed my GP receptionists but I know they'll just ignore it or reply saying to call 111. I might look into one of those online pay gp things! I've emailed my ivf clinic (but they usually say I need to ask gp not them) and Mr Lower (the magic man!) seeing if he doesn't mind giving a bit of advice. I've got a full day teaching including break duty so I will have no chance of trying to chase anyone. I might check my phone under my desk like a naughty kid though!

Shit. Just went to the loo and reddy brown. Agh.

OP posts:
bluepixie · 04/11/2021 07:38

@seven201 ur ivf clinic should be happy to give u some advice. Sorry it’s getting more red it can just be implantation bleed but u won’t know till u get bloods or a scan. How far along do u think u r.
Rem I bled in this pregnancy and was basically told it was over and it wasn’t so don’t give up Hope yet!

Is it cyclogest u take? I would do 2 of them at least a day. Ur prob ok without injections but prob get a progesterone level with ur Hcg with ur clinic can do one

seven201 · 04/11/2021 07:41

@Cream123 thank you. Good advice. I'm going to put the rest of my meds in the boot in case someone replies to my emails saying to take something else. Ruing not to panic at the blood, but it's so hard not to!

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 04/11/2021 07:47

It's so hard not to panic @seven201 definitely start cyclogest and probably do back door as you're spotting. I'm on 75mg of aspirin, although they do say if you're bleeding to maybe stop thar, so I'd see if your ivf clinic can advise. When I was pregnant last year just as we were about to start our ivf, they were happy to prescribe me progesterone. Hopefully your GP cones back to you. Hopefully the spotting is implantation ❤️ big hugs xx

bluepixie · 04/11/2021 08:01

My first bleed this pregnancy was about when af was due: was bright red not painful and then was spotting for a few days.
Fingers crossed keep us posted

whatcangowrong · 04/11/2021 09:08

Good luck @seven201 I'm hoping this turns out to be one of those stories where someone gets pregnant just as their cycle begins! 🙏

Gardenlady543 · 04/11/2021 10:03

Oh wow @seven201 it must have been the surgical issues that was causing the lack of success, amazing now it's fixed that you've got a BFP!

Someone told me they got a prescription through nova fertility, they booked a consultation for £150 and the doctor prescribed them medications (steroids in their case). I've also heard of people easily getting a prescription from the fertility clinic they had been under in the past when they got a BFP in a unmedicated cycle. Also you're under Gorgy for add ons aren't you, so he could also prescribe?

seven201 · 04/11/2021 12:50

Thank you everyone, you're all so lovely.

Just brown when I wipe now, so not lots of red. I emailed Mr Lower's secretary and she said I could have a consultation today (he had a cancellation) but it clashed with lessons so I had to say no. I did ask if I can pay for his time and he just review notes then send an advice on meds email, but she hasn't replied yet. My ivf clinic have also replied saying they'll discuss with a doctor and get back to me, so that's good. I was number 19 in the queue for 25 mins for the gp this morning and eventually had to give up and go into work (no reception inside!).

Anyone know how long cyclogest takes to absorb (Google says conflicting things)? I think I had it in for nearly an hour then really had to use the loo, so hoping it absorbed enough before the casing came out!

OP posts:
seven201 · 04/11/2021 12:51

Oh and my last period was on 5th so I must only be 4 weeks, if that. Very early days. Confused

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 04/11/2021 13:26

@seven201 I think the clinic and Lower will be the most helpful so probably wouldn't bother with the GP. I have read that cyclogest absorbs pretty quickly, I always decide I need the toilet after putting it in PR as well! You will be producing your own progesterone anyway, so even if only a bit absorbed it will be fine, it's just to supplement.

seven201 · 04/11/2021 13:30

Thank you @Gardenlady543 that's reassuring.

How are you feeling about everything now you've had time to absorb professor B info?

OP posts:
bluepixie · 04/11/2021 13:37

No worries @seven201 as long as it’s 20 mins after it’s absorbed. Glad ur clinic and lower are going to help! So hard doing all this let alone juggling work with it

seven201 · 04/11/2021 15:45

I doubt I'll get a response from either tonight so trying to decide if I should take aspirin or not seeing as I have the brown blood. Sorry, I'm hogging the thread today!

OP posts:
seven201 · 04/11/2021 16:07

Just spoke to a nurse at care who had spoken to a doctor.

She said to do low dose (75) aspirin and should be fine as the blood is old blood.
Metformin - continue until 12 weeks.
Thyroxine - continue and try and see the gp.

No need for any other drugs, including any progesterone! This is the one that worries me and I'm contemplating ignoring... I think it's normally until 12 weeks right? I think I have it on repeat prescription so I may be able to do it.

They can't help with early scans or blood tests. I'm going to try and find somewhere for a scan at 7 weeks.

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 04/11/2021 16:10

@seven201 you can organise blood tests through medichecks if you can't find someone else to do them, medichecks.com

You'll only need the progesterone if yours is low, this is a natural pregnancy, so your corpus luteum is releasing progesterone. I know you did one this cycle, what did it come back as again? If you're really worried and want to supplement the progesterone you could tell the clinic how worried you are and ask them to prescribe it, I think most will. Otherwise ask Lower or Gorgy or Nova fertility.

bluepixie · 04/11/2021 16:33

@seven201 like garden says it’s prob fine as u have a natural Pregnancy but given everything there is no harm in having some
Topped up. ESP as you had a bleed. I would just take it and lower can prescribe it for u I’m sure? Glad u managed to talk to someone.
Keeping eveything crossed!!!!

bluepixie · 04/11/2021 16:34

@seven201 I have a local place which does private blood tests if u self refer. Sure u must have something local to u

seven201 · 04/11/2021 16:43

Thank you all again. You're all so wonderfully helpful. My progesterone on cd 22 was 30.1. Will do some googling for blood tests this evening.

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 04/11/2021 16:58

@seven201 it could be higher now, the hcg stimulates the corpus luteum to release progesterone.

Janefx40 · 04/11/2021 21:14

Wow I've missed such a big day on the thread!

@seven201 congratulations! This is so exciting and yes, I know, scary too, but it's a start and a great one.

Yes yes to taking progesterone. For my natural cycle FET it is just one suppository twice a day.

Good luck. Don't apologise for hogging the thread. This is what the thread is for. Xxxxxx
