First cycle of IVF - buddies please!

Hi everyone,

Been on the conception boards a fair bit but this is first time on the infertility section.
Bit of background - 28 and been TTC for two years for first child. Had one miscarriage about 10 months ago at 5 weeks. Had all our fertility checks and no major issues have been identified. Consultant suggested IVF for us so we are currently in that process.
Nurse consultation is 2nd July and then hoping it’s not long after then!

Looking for some buddies to keep me going through it all as hate all kinds of hospital things and to stop me over thinking about!

@Girlwholifts my heart breaks for you both ❤️ I’m so sorry to hear that and hope you have the space and time to be able to take care of yourself for a bit - there’s no wrong or right way to feel and take as much time as you need to grieve. Sending you the biggest virtual hug through this painful time

@LKJ1 thanks, for sharing your experience. I hadn't considered time off after ET, to be honest. I thought we'd pop it in and off we go, back to the office, but depending on the dates it might actually be easier to take some time after ET.

Thanks @LS2020 and @dogmam I can definitely take the day of EC and the day after. If it happens as provisionally scheduled, it would be on a Thursday which would then give me the weekend off as well to rest. Earlier in the week will definitely be trickier to take more than those two days...

@dogmam thanks for the reassurance about the cetrotide. As for taking calls etc while at work it's not a problem, really. My having to be at work is more about being on site in case something happens or my team needs me. Just hoping I'll be able to sit properly! I hadn't considered the emotional aspect of the wait/news after ET, though... i might end up taking refuge in an empty meeting room or something if the news aren't great!

@LS2020 i agree that having your fitbit confiscated was probably a good idea! Enjoy your holiday and try to relax (easier said, i know!). I bet having progesterone symptoms makes it all the more confusion when trying to symptom spot.

@Novavee I think having the two days off with the weekend will be more than enough ☺️
Thanks, yeah it’s a massive pain. Woke up needing the loo and being kept up by nausea at the moment. My OH is v excited (it’s hit birthday today) that this a good sign. Had a google (obv) and now convinced myself too many “symptoms” is a bad thing. I need medical help 😫😂

Thank you all so much for you messages. Just got to workout when’s best for the next round as unfortunately I’m 35 this year. We don’t want to rush it but obviously need to think logically ❤️

@Girlwholifts I've just seen your news, can't imagine how you're feeling right now. Just really sorry that this has happened. Hopfully you can have a quiet bank holiday weekend but sounds like you're always on the go with having the gym. When you're ready, look at getting a follow up arranged with your clinic but for now I hope you and your other half can have some time together xx

I have so much catching up to do on this thread, but to the always-positive @Girlwholifts, my heart breaks for you. I hope you're able to take the time and space to process your loss and take whatever steps you and your partner are able toward healing. May small, every day joys make your days lighter. We are all (virtually) here for you. x

@LS2020 Happy Birthday to your OH! 🎂That would be the best present, so I can see how he's so excited about it😊 Nausea is a good sign. How many dpt are you now? If you need medical help, we all do! That being said, step away from google!

@Girlwholifts i've turned 35 this year so i can relate to your concern about age. It adds another level of stress and worry to the whole thing. Take as little or as long as you need. Only you know what is best for you.

@Girlwholifts you go at the right pace for you and that’s what’s important. Everything else can wait. Hope you were up early out of habit and not from having to go to work ❤️

@Novavee I’m 6dpt today. Had a bit of a freak out as my sore boobs faded this morning and felt very out, although nausea and tiredness were hitting strong. Nauseas gone and now my boobs are back with a vengeance so must be my hormones fighting it out! Thank you, having a wonderful spa day to relax. Paid for a full package but obviously could only have the facial so stocked up on Elemis products to cheer myself up 😂
Seeing how I go tonight I may test tomorrow. Just feeling too good about it all.. which is ridiculous!

I caved early 🙈 (also premier inns floor not mine!) now just hoping not left over HCG trigger!!

Hmm this is at the 30 minute mark.. maybe not as bad as I thought… honestly I need mental help 😭

@Girlwholifts omg I just read your news and my heart broke for you. How heart breaking life is so cruel sometimes. I hope you and your OH are ok and my thoughts are with you.

@tmc2021 I’m 7 days past transfer so still early days. Official test day isn’t til next Friday!

@LS2020 currently on CD 10, I've been into the clinic for scans and bloods on days 1, 6 and 8 back in tomorrow on day 11 (they really like to keep tabs on you at the clinic, makes it easier to adjust meds as needed). So we will see how things look tomorrow. I am eager for EC as I am not loving meds. I don't mind giving myself needles at all but I don't like the feeling of having all the hormones in me.

@Bryterlayter1 wow that is a lot of scans! Have they given you any indication of when EC may be? Yeah the hormones are tough, especially when you have to be a grown up and deal with work etc. I don’t know how people do IVF for second kid, I’d be knackered!

@LS2020 OMG! What great news, I'm so happy for you! I am keeping everything crossed it continues getting stronger.

@Bryterlayter1 I'm sorry you're struggling with the hormones. Hopefully you won't have many days left on stims. Good luck for your appointment tomorrow and hopefully they will ask you to trigger soon.

All quiet on my end. Stopped microgynon yesterday and I am now in the final countdown to start stimming on Wednesday.

Thanks @Novavee if I can get through this week I’ll be pleased. Ironically my test date is the same days pregnant as when I lost my first one so it’s going to be a rollercoaster of a day!

@Bryterlayter1 aw bless you, yeah there hormones aren't great. Hopfully EC soon. Is the follicle growth going well?

I'm still just popping estrogen pills waiting my FET!
