IVF first timers - June 2021 Protocol

Hello 👋🏼!! About to embark on the absolutely terrifying process of IVF in June (once my next cycle finishes) and though it might be nice to get chatting to some people going through the same? Meds due tomorrow and bloods booked in for Saturday - Let me know if you are in the same boat would be great to get some support from some fellow infertility warriors ❤️x

Definitely good to hear people's stories. Like you @Cat028 we'd been trying for a while but then things got in the way. Hindsight is always a great thing but it's happening now and that's what I'm thinking about.

Had another scan today. It's looking not too bad. I still have the dominant follicle but I have five others which have responded to the increased medication so that fills me with some hope. The others are still quite small but if I could have six potentials... well, I'll take it! EC looks to be on Friday though they will confirm on Wednesday. It's all coming a little real.

My stomach is like a pin cushion, lots of bruises from my two evening injections and now the fyremadel in the morning. It is more painful for sure and it burns a little bit. But it could be worse.

I just can't wait to be pregnant. I really want to experience feeling a little life inside me. I'm hopeful and positive that it will happen - if not this time then soon!

What are the injections you have in the evening? Sorry it's all bruising, my friend said it was like that for her but so far I have nothing (not started fyremedal yet so that could change!) Do you feel a bit bloated or look a bit larger in the abdomen? I've just done my 4th injection of meriofert this morning but can't really say I'm noticing anything apart from some painful trapped wind! 🤦🏾‍♀️
So exciting that EC is literally a few days away for you!! 😃 it will definitely happen...we were lucky enough to be able to speak to someone who my OH met and is quite high up in the genetics and lab side of things who gave us the hope that it will eventually happen...and I know a few people who it's happened for first time and others where it has happened on their 7th and 8th time. Fingers crossed it's great news at your EC this Friday 🤞🏾

@Ofpalestsilver 100% it's so important to try and think of where we are now. I'm excited to be joining you all soon with treatment.

What great news! I'm so pleased a few more follicles have caught up. Hopefully you'll get a few more before Friday. Sounds like you are feeling more positive too ☺️ when is your next scan?

@Coops0406 it's all so unpredictable isn't it. Such a range between 1 and 7/8 tries! That's great that you have someone who was able to reassure you both. When do you start your second injection?

@Cat028 massive range...but it just says to me to never give up really.
We start with fyremedal tomorrow morning then scan on Thursday morning. It's our 3 year anniversary tomorrow too and the OH gets to jab me twice!! Not sure he needs a present 🤣

@Coops0406 I take Menopur 300iu and gonal-f 150iu. So pumping quite a bit into me. I think next time if there is one they’ll start me on 450iu straight away. I started just with Menopur but I have super resistant follies.

I haven’t had bad side effects. This morning I feel like I’m bloated but I really thought side effects would be worse. Not complaining that they aren’t though!

7/8 tries seems a lot. I’ll be bankrupt then! Haha

@Ofpalestsilver haha!! Those are 2 extremes! But it still worked so definitely shows that it will work.
Gosh you have got a lot going in you, but good that you have no real side effects. I've been a bit headachey yesterday and today so just trying to keep hydrated! Done a lot of napping too 🤣 I can't wait to go for the scan, just to know where we stand and have things explained...I literally have zero understanding about the follicles and sizes etc so hopefully they can shed some light

I’m currently so bloated I’m lying on my front balancing on my belly. Hoping this means good things haha. Body popped full of follies!!

Oh no!! What day are you on? Sounds like it can only be those follicles getting bigger 🤞🏾 so totally worth the discomfort! When did you start to feel bloated? I feel nothing really in that department...I don't know if that's because I was ridiculously bloated with the norithisterone that anything now isn't noticeable 🤣

@Luan82 is it tomorrow you take the last pill then injections tomorrow night or do you have to wait until Thursday? Exciting! 😃😃😃

@Ofpalestsilver also, where do you insert the fyremedal? I'm sure the nurse I spoke to said either the tummy or thighs but I just pulled the paper out of the box and it says the thighs...in fact the picture shows the fronts of the thighs. Not sure I would want to do it there though

@Coops0406 I’m day 10. The bloating happened today. I was slightly full but today I feel like a balloon.

I do fyremadel in the stomach. Don’t fancy trying the thighs and tummy works for this one!

@Coops0406 it certainly is!! Last day of the pill tomorrow can't say I'm gonna miss it has made me feel nauseous every day urghhh ! Going to try and get my head around my injections tomorrow in case I have any questions and need to call the clinic before Thursday eve! X

@Ofpalestsilver we just did the fyremadel and I actually didn't feel it as much as the other one...OH said it was more of a struggle to get the needle in as it must have been slightly thicker, but all good 👍🏾

It's our 3 year anniversary today so after I've worked this morning from home, we will venture out into the garden! Might even have a picnic! 🤣

That’s sweet that your OH does your injections. Mine has nowt to do with it! I prefer to do it myself on my own. :)

@Coops0406 @Ofpalestsilver my other half has offered to do it but I'm not sure if I should as I'm a huge control freak!! Think I've got to have 2 x injections as it's 300
@Cat028 not usually no! Which is weird - side effects of Maexeni are nausea headache and breast tenderness and I've had them all which is interesting for such a short period of time!
Have you all chosen to inject into your tummy or thigh? X

@Coops0406 Had my scan this morning. My follies are popping up all over the place. We thought EC on Friday but because so many are suddenly responding, it looks like Sat or Mon now. I have 20 follies in total though I reckon only 8 maximum will be ready for plucking. Still it's exciting stuff. I don't mind feeling like a massive balloon if stuff is happening.

Of course we'd booked to go away this weekend. Anyone want a cottage in Hampshire? Haha!

@Luan82 What are your injections? I did Menopur 300 and it was just one big injection. I had to add Gonal-F to it so that was two injections. Honestly the 300 one felt like I was filling up with water. hehe.

@Luan82 that is strange! Thankfully not much longer to take them! I haven't started but will probably go tummy.

@Ofpalestsilver that's so exciting!! I'm so pleased your follicles have responded to the meds! Is moving the EC to give them a few more days? That's typical isn't it!!! Such a shame I'm sure it would have been lovely to get away after EC. Will they move the dates of your cottage for you?

@Cat028 yes! To be honest, I think I should have been started on a higher dose than 300 given my IUI experience but hey, at least we're on the way now. I'm hoping EC will be Saturday. Be so much easier for me work wise!

And no re the cottage, we got it off someone else who had to cancel it because it was non-refundable! Grr. Oh well. What's another £100 in the middle of this madness? Bleugh!

And yay re the meds! That's so exciting. You're nearly on your way! Woohoo!
