Hi all. Thanks for the advice.

@willithappen DH had SA in January was all ok. GP spoke about still doing a second but I think cause we had to wait 3 months to get an appointment for the first one they said not to bother with a second.

@jonrik congratulations! I think we may do similar. Go to GCRM for initial investigations and then see where we are in 6 months when we reach the two year ttc mark unless anything comes up on the investigations as so far everything has been ok.

@Scirocco thanks. I think private is an option. But it would be tight. I guess if we got for initial tests but wait and see where we are in 6 months we’ll just need to do some mega saving in the mean time. I know my parents would help where they could. DH’s parents probably would too but they aren’t aware of the situation.

I’m finding the whole situation so emotionally draining and I know I’m still so early on in this. Hats off to you all for coping. Trying to look at some things to help me cope a bit better normally quite balanced emotionally but an utter wreck at the moment.

Kitekat81 · 07/02/2021 17:38

@jonrik congratulations, have everything crossed for you!

@Kamiros do you mind if I ask how old you are and what your AMH was? Did GCRM prescribe/recommend the DHEA? I'm 39 and getting my AMH tested at GCRM in a couple of weeks, I'm worried it's going to be low as my AFC was low. Interesting about it needing 5 months to properly make a difference. I might need to factor that into my timescales 🤔 x

@kitekat81 I'm 38, I'll be 39 in April. It was Marco at GCRM that recommended the DHEA, they give you a few links of where to get it. It took about a month to come from America the first time. I got impatient so ordered from another place and paid for quick shipping, it wasn't cheap but it came in about 10 days so worth it.

I think the research on it is still fairly limited and opinions are mixed, they said results show that it needs 3 months but best results are after 5. He was honest and said it might not do anything but my last follicle count was better so I'm willing to wait a little longer just in case.

My amh was almost undetectable so I'll try anything. I'm on the donor list as it was 20 months wait back in November but we've decided we'll give it two cycles before doing that. Haven't ruled out trying mild or natural ivf yet either, just one step at a time for now.

jonrik · 07/02/2021 21:33

Thank you @Kitekat81, @Rosie189 and @Kamiros, still can't quite believe it myself.
It's definitely worth a chat with the gcrm @Rosie189, they're all lovely there.

Kitekat81 · 08/02/2021 20:08

Thanks @Kamiros! I'm glad to hear that the DHEA is making a difference for you.

I'm getting a hycosy and AMH test done next week, then I was going to start thinking about booking a 1st consultation after I've got those results. Do you think I should try and get an appointment with Marco? I went to an open evening a few weeks ago and they said it's a bit of a longer wait for an appointment with him. Maybe I should get our name down sooner rather than later?

Kamiros · 08/02/2021 21:16

@Kitekat81 They said that at the one we went to too. We didn't actually specifically request Marco but ended up getting him anyway, not sure if it was because of our results. I was too scared to ask at that point, hadn't taken it in properly yet. I liked him as he was honest and to the point about our chances. I'm sure the others are as good though.

Kitekat81 · 08/02/2021 21:27

@Kamiros yeh I'm sure they are all good. I think I'll wait until next week as that will be my first time going to the clinic so I'm sure I'll pick up a lot then about what my next steps should be.

Back to period watch for me again! 🙈 finished norethisterone yesterday and have baseline on Friday

pixelflower · 09/02/2021 10:18

@willithappen my heart rate went through the roof this morning with a call from the clinic. Panicked they were cancelling or something but was just covid questions and instructions for tomorrow.

willithappen · 09/02/2021 12:03

@pixelflower aw I'd be the same! I'm actually lucky that the friend I have going through this now is two weeks ahead so has given me a well good heads up. She let me know they called her before as well. She's just had her egg collection yesterday, potentially transferring on Saturday!

I did NOT know there were pessaries involved after egg collection haha. I think I'd rather injections for longer!

Good luck with the scan tomorrow! Fingers crossed it's all quiet. Then you'll be starting injections Thursday yeah?

pixelflower · 09/02/2021 12:14

@willithappen that's exciting. I didn't realise they did any appointments on Saturdays. Yeah, I'd heard about the pessaries, apparently a good idea to wear underwear you don't mind getting ruinedBlush Bleeding has started so fingers crossed all good tomorrow, and that it stays light 😶 Think so going by the email. Kinda glad I'm working tonight, don't think I'd sleep anyway 😂

jonrik · 09/02/2021 12:26

I have 5 more pessaries and then I'm done. Party that day! I have to say, even though it might take a bit more getting used to, it's soooo much cleaner and easier to use them rectally. No discharge as they get completely absorbed. I tried both and it's so messy vaginally.

willithappen · 09/02/2021 12:43

@jonrik I have heard rectally is the best, that's probably what I'll try as I don't fancy the mess from going the other way haha

pixelflower · 09/02/2021 13:00

Thanks for the tip @jonrik Smile

Mrsrielly · 09/02/2021 13:12

Hello everyone!!
I was wondering what happened to the previous chat then I realised a new one was made!
I hope you are all ok!
I had a hycosy test just before Christmas and just had my follow up appointment via phone and the next step for us they have said is ICSI. Has anyone been thru this or is going thru it at the moment or even planned to go thru it?
Would love to hear from yous xxx

Mrsrielly · 09/02/2021 13:28

@jonrik it looks like congratulations are in order 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 so nice to see something positive happening. Hope you are good xx

pixelflower · 09/02/2021 23:07

@Mrsrielly glad you've found us 😊 I think they were considering ICSI for us but were going to see how repeat SA was. That's never actually happened with Covid 🤦 I think there's a good chance it's improved since he gave up smoking but who knows. If I get any information about it I'll update here but don't know much right now.

Mrsrielly · 10/02/2021 08:50

@pixelflower thank you. It's such a shame all this going on that it's more waiting for everyone. The doctor said yesterday that because we have been trying for so long and going with the fact I have pcos and my husband has more test results that have a slight change in mobility than normal results it's the best route for us. His most recent one was normal and she said even if his next one was normal they would still go this route.
It's so strange because on one hand I'm so happy that we have a next step but on the other hand I'm so scared too 🙈

jonrik · 10/02/2021 10:16

Thank you @Mrsrielly, I'm delighted! My OTD isn't until Friday but so happy already. Good luck with your journey!

Mrsrielly · 10/02/2021 11:11

@jonrik thank you!! Good luck with everything xxxx

pixelflower · 10/02/2021 22:50

Well, been for my baseline scan today and home with a bag of drugs and needles Confused Is it weird I'm excited to get stuck in tomorrow? Have learned today that my lovely husband thought that I had to go get injected not do them myself. Never knew he was so squeamish about needles 🤣

Mrsrielly · 11/02/2021 07:57

@pixelflower oh 😂 well hopefully he doesn't pass out on you 🙈😂 let me know how it goes? I knew you done it yourself but where do you do it? Xx

willithappen · 11/02/2021 08:59

@pixelflower how did you find your scan?
I'm in for mine tomorrow. AF arrived today

pixelflower · 11/02/2021 10:17

@Mrsrielly I'll just run away and do it 🤣 Already asked my mum if she'll do the trigger cause someone on Instagram said that's into muscle so be a bit harder to do myself. I'm on Gonal F and from Monday Cetrorelix as well and she said below belly button level on stomach or upper thigh.

@willithappen it was fine. It seemed well organised. Got there about half an hour before my appointment bursting to per 🤦 Was worried they wouldn't let me in 🤣. I only had light bleeding before it but still got the go ahead to start today so guessing you'll be fine for starting Saturday. Was in and out pretty quick. Do you normally go in the main door when you've been before?

willithappen · 11/02/2021 11:10

@pixelflower I'll make sure to pee before I leave home haha
Yeah usually the front door we go in. They called this morning to say to go in the front door :)
Very very nervous!!
